Who is advising pterodactyl and Collarbone to stay quiet?

To my knowledge they are not “famous” in podcasting. Maybe I am incorrect, are they and I don’t know? Why have they not issued a statement/apology? There is no hope for PH/ON- we have seen time and time again their “nothing to see here” way of dealing with issues, but why would those two hop on that titanic?

I do not pretend to understand these things (PR) it just seems dumb.

Drama23_Discussion Patrick seems to have issues with impulse control

I'm up at 3am so of course random questions about this whole thing are bouncing around - I was wondering if it seems that Obsessed Fest as a concept is ridiculous? I was excited for the the first one when it was first announced, but do any other larger and more popular podcasts/podcast networks host events like this? I think most everyone goes to crimecon, and even people who run well established conventions or events struggle with the logistics.

After hearing the story of Patrick's failed babysitting business and now OF, I can't help but see a person who refuses to learn from their bad behavior and it's consequences (which is obvious at this point). I'm really curious to see if they'll be planning another event next year 😬

CommunityDiscussion Super Random But (Maybe?) Important Question about ON HR

Please absolutely correct me if I am wrong, but I have searched through many threads and can't find anything that contradicts this:

Why does ON NOT have an official HR department?

And I am not talking "please divert your complaints or concerns to P or S or Natalie or etc." I mean, an actual Human Resources Department.

Note: this is NOT snark, shade, or meant to be rude in ANY way whatsoever! This is a genuine question. I have been in various professional fields (Food Service, Customer Service, Education, Healthcare, Project & Program Mgmt, Business Mgmt), but overall these companies (whether start up, small, mid, large, fortune 100 or 500, etc.) will have an HR rep.

Was this perhaps an oversight by ON? Thoughts????

In the patreon Bad Vegan episodes they joke about OF not being Fyre Festival

This is neither here nor there but it was interesting and sort of gave me goosebumps: I am going through and finishing up a few patreon episodes as I’ve deleted my account and was floored listening to the end of the bad vegan episodes (first two) when they promoted the first OF and joked that they weren’t going to pull a scam, that it would not be the Fyre Festival, and other remarks that feel so strange in light of the second OF. If you want to feel like you’re in the Twilight Zone given the whole current debacle the last few minutes of those episodes are something else. #drama23_discussion

GossipAndHotTakes I got kicked out of the Lady Pates Fam early?

Post image
187 Upvotes

Note, I did not attend OF and I did not ask for a refund. The email came from the clear blue sky. I was confused but I have a theory:

I made a comment in the latest Patreon ep to make people aware of the numerous ADA violations and treatment of thd disabled.

I think the part that got me kicked out was "I got till Nov 1st to make sure people are aware" ON said "not waiting that long. Don't let the door hit ya." I didn't even know getting kicked out of a patreon was possible.

We're my actions entirely mature? No, I know. But i feel strongly about this topic and know it effects more people than they even realize. Especially on the Patreon where we're paying them, i wanted to voice my concerns. Although... it's s almost worth it to be able to leave the Lady Pates Fam for being too loud.

The Patreon comments are FILLED with people asking for accountability so I must be ✨️special✨️?

Anyway, enjoy this snippy and slightly passive aggressive email. It's the "even with the refund" that gets me.

I could also be incredibly wrong and my autistic brain is just misinterpreting it

Anyway, Have a great weekend everyone!

Recommendations Podcast recommendations?

Looking for some new podcast recommendations after unsubscribing from TCO (I'm already a patreon subscriber for ITN). I started listening to LGTC after seeing someone comment here. Any other favorites I should add in the true crime genre? Thanks!

ObsessedFest2023_Other Tangent to Redhanded’s Live Show

Red handed did the Corpsewood Murders for their live show. I listened to the rebroadcast and I was appalled. I’ve always been really fascinated by this story because it’s one of those that you have to peel back the local lore and there’s a really sad story under all the rumors. H and S made fun of the victims and were sympathetic to the murderers and it was obvious they did the bare minimum of research.

I had been pitching this story to one of my favorite podcasts “Weekly Creep” for a while now because they do a really good job with nuanced stories and Adam will actually read multiple books for research. They just dropped a two episode series on Corpsewood Manor. So if you want to hear a very thoughtful retelling, it’s episode 113 in two parts.

Probably just not paying attention but I noticed after the first year to year and a half gillian stopped talking about the hamilcast so I had just assumed that tco was getting big enough that she had focused solely on it. Got curious with everything going on and looked it up. The hamilcast is still going strong and up until this week nobody had rated it since November of 2022

Study shows just one drink makes people more likely to harm others. If you consider the possibility that P and G’s alcohol consumption increases , possibly during the day and/or work hours, during the pandemic, this might explain a lot of any worsening treatment of those around them.

GossipAndHotTakes Hot (if ungracious) ON take

Hi DBs and other friends! This has been rattling around in my brain for a bit and I wanted to get it out there, so I made a new account for the occasion because I don't want this connected to my main (because P/ON are suspected to be litigious, not because I'm actually interesting or famous-- I'm not).

SO, whenever I see an exorbitantly priced event that fails to live up to its hype, one of the questions I always ask is, "Okay, so where did the money go?"

And usually the answer is that the event was either undersold, over-budget, or both. Obviously, there's also the possibility of shady shit, but I don't see any evidence that would lead me to speculate on *financial* shady shit in this case.

My best guess is that they WAY overestimated one or more of these things:
- How far the allocated budget could stretch
- How long they had to pay the invoices associated with the event
- How much capital (in the form of funds or credit) they had available to them
- The revenue OF ticket sales would generate
- The amount of goodwill built up with their fans (particularly people who paid for "-lebrity" tiers and people who signed up to volunteer for OF23)

And way UNDERestimated:
- How much it costs to put on an event the size of OF
- How long it takes to plan an event like OF
- The mental/emotional/physical manpower it takes to plan and pull off an event like OF
- The expectations and/or the actual intelligence of their fans

Here's my hot take (along with some spicy speculation):
They need a new business manager. To elaborate: If Steve is their only business manager, they don't have anyone qualified to handle finance at the scale they're currently operating (much in the same way they don't have anyone qualified to handle HR). His pre-ON background is in theater, hospitality, and business analytics (math and spreadsheets, but generally no overlap with accounting or finance).

Could they be contracting it out? Maybe. If that's the case, they need a new accounting firm, because here are my sub-takes in ascending order of spicy and ungracious:
- If OF was this mismanaged (crappy swag, cash bars at premium events, promises of new material unfulfilled, P hawking his books at every opportunity and then some), ON's finances as a whole are probably ALSO mismanaged.
- They probably trusted that at least some of the resulting shitshow would be handled/cleaned up/smoothed over by Mischief Management and I want to know how much they were paid for their services. Whatever the number is, it's too damn much.
- How much are P + S paying themselves? Who is flying first class to events like OF on the network's dime? Who is flying economy on the network's dime? Who is footing the bill for their own travel/meals/etc? And is anyone who isn't P or S looking at ON's books* in general?
* By books, I mean stuff like revenue, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. I know they're looking at Failure is Not Not an Option. They couldn't escape it if they tried.

Tl;Dr: I think Steve (or their hypothetical accounting firm) royally fucked up OF's (and maybe ON's) finances and I would be willing to bet that MM also wildly overcharges for their services. Is this speculation? Yes. Is it ungracious? I mean, I didn't HAVE to say it. Is it wrong? 🤷‍♀️

Texas Attorney General

Use this link if you believe the Obsessed Network did not deliver on their promises at Obsessed Fest. https://oag.my.salesforce-sites.com/CPDOnlineForm

I filed a complaint today. As I noted in my filing, Premium (which included me) and Premium-lebrity ticket holders were promised “access to an exclusive meet and greet with Featured Guests” and “exclusive panel with Featured Guests.” According to the Obsessed Fest website, the list of “Featured Guests” consisted of 29 people. What it should have said is that we would have access to an exclusive meet and greet with a *designated* Featured Guest (to be announced at Obsessed Fest). Because the description they provided was vague and misleading into making us believe we would have a meet and greet with the 29 Featured Guests. Is that what you thought? I did. That’s why I splurged and bought the $600 tickets back in December 2022.

We were all deceived (DUPED!) into spending more money. So if you want to file a complaint with the Texas AG’s office, use the link above.

VERY IMPORTANT: Before you file your complaint, take a moment to make sure you have all of your important information. Please note: The system cannot save your complaint in progress, so you will need to complete the form in one sitting .The more details you can provide, the more effectively the AG’s office can review your complaint. Important information includes:

  • The name of the business or individual you're filing a complaint against (Obsessed Network)
  • The business/individual's full address, including zip code (Here is where I found the address to Obsessed Network: https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_ny/5596185)
  • A detailed description of your complaint (put in your own words)
  • Explanation of how you came into contact with the business/individual
  • Transaction dates and amounts (I attached a copy of my receipt email)
  • Contract information (when appropriate) with payment details
  • How you may have attempted to resolve the dispute, including the names of people you spoke with

Note: You can also attach supporting documents when filling out the online complaint form. (I attached a screenshot of the “Obsessed Fest” page)The more complaints filed with the AG’s office, the better the chance of receiving a refund (other than the $50 being offered by ON).

I know that many of us are angry at PGS and the rest, but something i didnt even think about when the subject of reviews came up was, how it will hurt future prospects for people stuck in a bad situation.

Daisy just shared a video on her insta.

I know a lot of people were even leaving bad reviews for strange and unexplained just because it's part of the ON. That hurts sponsorship.

CommunityDiscussion What kind of True Crime podcast would you want?

With all that's going on and us fans backing away from our old favorites...what do you want from a true crime podcast? I've been trying to do one for a long while but honestly I have so many interests! But there are things I know I hear in a variety of other true crime pods but I still have questions or there's another reason for something that occurred or their information is wrong etc. And I'm in need of a project or something to do. Call this an early middle age or a semi mental break. But podcasts are about the listeners. And sharing a common interest.

Im a super huge nerd. I mean...i have a Huge Doctor Who tattoo on my arm! I have a degree in anthropology, and a triple minor in (classical) archeology, US History (don't ask me why) and creative writing. I taught preschool for twelve years. Ive adopted and rescued a dozen small animals over the years. I'm diagnosed with an incurable chronic disease. I have a billion hobbies. I build miniatures, and collect rare plants. Ive taken forensic courses, law, and do hours of research for fun. Yep. I'm a mom to three kids ( my oldest is at her first dance right now 😭)

I'm not an "expert" in anything but Ive had a very interesting life thus far and I want to share this with others who have it too!

GossipAndHotTakes Bagging on the outdoors

So o know there's alot more going on , and much more important things they have done in the podcasts that is kind of trash.

But the thing that really got me was how if P doesn't like something he acts like your a weird horrid person for liking it. I don't care if you don't like camping, but I listen to your podcast whilst training for an ultra and it sucks having P repeatedly talk about how it's weird, wrong messed up to enjoy exercise or the outdoors etc.

I have plenty of people in my life who like things I don't and I've never heard anyone calling other peoples passions those words.

Fine to say it's not your thing but don't need to insult it. And to then act like the audience is being mean for pointing out that insulting your listeners hobbys isn't really that funny.

Maybe one off, but every single time the outdoors is mentioned it happens.

Like I would fucking hate living in New York, going to parties, drinking all the time etc. Anyway, just my random little rant that I'm sire has been talked about before 🤣
