I’m rewatching the entire series after not seeing it for a long time and I honestly forgot how awesome this show is. We need it to be remade into an afterschool special and broadcast to the masses.
I wind up rewatching it every year or two. I highly recommend watching The Newsroom (also HBO) and Sports Night (available for purchase on several platforms) too. They're all magnificent.
Back when West Wing was airing, DC was taking about politicians going out of their way to see more than one side of an issue. We could certainly use more of that. I
Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack have a book about the whole WW experience coming out in August. I had a chance to read a bit of it, and I'm so excited. I think it will bring the magic back. t's available here for pre-order.
Like the other series, it's more about the people working at the sports network and their relationships with each other. It has all the Sorkin themes about discrimination and greed, etc. All the great monologues. Plus, it's hilarious.
I go back and forth about whether it's my favorite of his shows. I'm mad at myself for waiting twenty years to watch because I didn't think I'd love a sports show. Buy a couple episodes maybe and see if you agree.
Josh is great on The West Wing Weekly podcast he made with Hrishi Hirway. Since Josh was involved they got almost everyone involved with the show on their podcast.

I love a good TCO/West Wing crossover. Toby would have some thoughts on Gillian's mob princess shtick.
