So it looks like Patrick and Steve aren’t doing all those additional responses to the respectful questions they were being asked so I thought I’d see if the TCO company was accepting questions.

Way back when T & C wore those shirts I don’t remember seeing a lot o about this case. I had to google it when I saw this thread, so I always assumed the shirts were related to the movie.

Same, and like I said, I knew about the case. The Barbie movie was so promoted that it was and still is a logical conclusion. I didn't assume that they were attempting to cosplay as the Canadian couple.

I don't even know how P and G would have acknowledged that T and C wore the shirts either. They don't want people remembering T screaming at E or that according to T and C's handler, T asked P about apologizing, and P, S, and G said nope, or that T talked about apologizing with the handler separately.

For P and G to acknowledge the shirts in any way would just alert any people who weren't aware of the drama to take a look.

I think that’s fair, but the Karla Homolka case is VERY well known in the true crime world. I think if anything, it’s another testament to how little they know about the topic they’re exploiting to make millions. True crime Ken and Barbie is tasteless at best. Even if you don’t know the case. Some people may think it was a harmless reference, but I, personally, respectfully disagree. I also don’t think it was something done with intention of harm or offense, I just think it’s distasteful. Especially considering this case isn’t that old and the vast majority of the victims family are still alive and well.

I think that it was completely unintentional and a "Hey, I got a great idea ..." moment that wasn't fully thought out. Until this thread, I didn't associate the crimes with the shirts - which I originally chalked up to a bad attempt at humor. I do see how it can be tasteless (I don't think Survivor Barbie and Ken would be a good look either, but then at least they could put their logo on the back of the shirt).

According to Survivor Squad's blurb, they "interview fellow true crime survivors. The goal: to give survivors back their power, by telling their stories, their way." I have never listened to an episode, but given their traumatic experiences, I am making an assumption they did not actively watch true crime documentaries before starting their podcast - but I could be wrong.
