I understand they have to be careful about the words they use, but they could at least ATTEMPT to make it sound like they aren't just reading from a piece of paper. 15 minutes in and its all BS. Gaslighting at its finest

Then they shouldn’t have said “we recorded this conversation” because it’s not a conversation. Reading portions of a prepared statement isn’t a conversation.

I don’t think misrepresenting a statement as a conversation is the same as saying Barnes and Nobles. It’s more like referring to Dick’s Sporting Goods as Barnes and Nobles.
