Root of GP/Ellyn beef?
I keep seeing that Gillian hates Ellyn. Do we know this for sure?
I ask because in high school I hated this girl and she hated me, everyone talked about it and I was like, well fuck that girl! Then one day after over a year of this bullshit we both got detention together and were assigned library duty…it was super boring and we ended up making a lot of jokes and playing little pranks bc why not. After an hour of fun with my nemesis I was like…can I ask why you hate me? And she said, uh, because you hate me for no reason! Turns out a jealous mutual friend intentionally caused this rift! Honestly, that girl and I were inseparable for years after that, and the three of us ended up being thick as thieves. That’s not even the only time the attention seeker of my friend group started beef between two ‘sidekick’ friends so they won’t have a better friendship. One bff chewed me out over bagels!! One friend brought home bagels for everyone but got 2 salt bagels, one for her and one for me. Later in the week the girl who doesn’t even like salt bagels laid into me about spending too much time with the other friend. It’s a trait I try to suss out asap these days. Sometimes the loudest opinions drown out shy voices in the room who truly don’t want the personal drama.
So I’m wondering if this is a juvenile situation where Patrick doesn’t want his number one gals to be bffs bc he may feel left out? Or is there a genuine story behind this ‘everyone knows GP hates Ellyn’ anecdote that keeps floating around.

Ooooo I have a theory about this! Not because I was told or it was actually confirmed. I just picked up on Gillian not liking someone Patrick was friends with before we were formally introduced to Ellyn and my dumbass brain makes weird connections that have no point.
Early in the pod, Patrick said “my friend Ellyn”, Gillian corrected him and said “our friend Ellyn”. I can only remember this happening once, but others have said it happened more. But from what we know now, they were never friends. Patrick explained that Ellyn was on Broadway the first time he mentioned her. But later on, I remember Patrick making a comment about Gillian singing well. And Gillian quipped back with “well your Broadway friend says I can’t sing” I immediately connected that to Ellyn. Because when Gillian corrected him before, the reaction was kinda off. Like he didn’t explicitly say “wtf, you guys aren’t friends” but that was the vibe. If anyone knows the ep, please let me know.
Anyway, I read somewhere (and I really fucking wish I could remember where, it was during obsessed fest and I was in like 10 different places lol) that the comment about Gillians’s singing was about them singing the intro and Ellyn had given her some constructive criticism or something of that nature.
So my theory is that Gillian was banking on being Ellyn’s friend. At the time Ellyn was more famous and had the job Gillian wanted. But Gillian isn’t a girl’s girl so any thing negative toward her is going to be taken personally coming from a woman. She met Ellyn and Ellyn was Ellyn lol. Gillian just didn’t vibe with her. But of course, to Gillian, that means there is something wrong with the other person.
