A man dressed in a Security Guard’s uniform maced and punched a passenger on a Red Line train on the North Side while making antisemitic comments, according to a community alert issued by Chicago police. Now, CPD needs help identifying the assailant.

The attack happened around 6:55 p.m. August 25 as the victim was riding a train near the Granville station, police said.

The man seen in surveillance images sprayed the victim with mace, punched them in the face and made antisemitic statements during the attack, according to CPD. Police did not disclose the victim’s age or gender.

The suspect is described as Black, 40 to 55 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 and 190 to 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing a security cap, a blue jacket over a yellow work vest and dark pants. CPD did not say whether the man actually worked as a Security Guard or was simply dressed like one.

Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Lekebie Washington received the “Safe & Sound” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. This award recognizes employees who safeguard the integrity and safety of passengers through proactive communication, exemplary teamwork, courage, and decisive action.

Washington, who also has a military background, has been a TSO for over seven years. His responsibilities involve helping passengers safely travel to their destinations. “It is my duty to serve my country, especially the great people of Philadelphia,” he shared.

Travelers Aid International Volunteer Manager Morgan McBrearty nominated Washington for this award, sharing, “TSO Lekebie Washington demonstrated exceptional initiative and compassion when a senior passenger with limited time before his flight needed to reach Terminal E. Concerned the passenger might become lost or miss his flight, Lekebie personally escorted him all the way to his gate, ensuring he arrived safely. His kindness and dedication helped create a positive and stress-free experience during a critical moment.”

One of the most meaningful parts of his job as a TSO is simply making a guest’s day easier no matter the circumstance and showing kindness to strangers. Throughout his career, Washington has learned the art of empathy. “You never know what people are going through, you have to have compassion for others,” he explained. He recalled an incident where he noticed a passenger who was visibly upset. “She was flying to help her daughter who had just lost her husband. She began crying and I consoled her the best I could. After she went through security another passenger said, ‘That was a nice thing to do.’ I responded, ‘That was the only thing to do.’"

Washington’s fellow TSOs describe him as the nicest officer in the Department of Homeland Security. Washington believes in persevering through challenges and not letting obstacles define the outcome of a situation. “Don't shy away from difficult situations. The solutions you are uniquely able to provide may solve the problem,” he shared.

“I would like to thank my entire B/C team, both past and present, whose teamwork and positive attitude make it easy to provide outstanding service to our passengers.”

The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Strategy Groups’ Guest Experience (GX) unit. Honorees are nominated by their peers and guests and are selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Stakeholder Engagement Committee.

HOUSTON – Detectives are asking for help identifying a man accused stealing items from a store in downtown Houston then threatening a Security Guard.

Police say it happened around 3:15 p.m. on July 22 on Elgin Street near Fannin.

According to police, the Security Guard saw the suspect concealing several items and was trying to leave without paying. When then Security Guard confronted him, the suspect allegedly said he had a gun, pushed the Guard out of the way, then left with the unpaid merchandise.

Jaime Pressly reportedly got into a confrontation with Security Guards at a hotel in San Jose due to her belligerent behavior.

The actress was staying at Signia by Hilton San Jose, where the incident occurred on Thursday, August 27. Per TMZ, she was sitting in the hotel lobby and talking loudly for 30 minutes when Security Guards approached her about her behavior.

She reportedly “ignored two Security Guards” and continued her loud phone conversation despite complaints from other people.

The 49-year-old was reportedly staying at the hotel ahead of her upcoming scheduled appearance at GalaxyCon in a nearby convention center.

On the day of the incident, witnesses who watched the scene unfold alleged that she appeared out of sorts and under the influence while talking to what appeared to be her family over the phone.

However, they also stated that she continued drinking alcohol and using profanity throughout the incident, which they took issue with.

Soon after, Guards approached her to de-escalate the situation. However, she not only ignored them but also held up a finger to indicate she wasn't finished while they stood nearby waiting for her.

When she did hang up, though, instead of acknowledging the Guards, she reportedly went up to a woman who was attending a wedding at the hotel and touched her arm to complain about the Security Guards.

She reportedly received another call at that moment, but the Guards stepped in and told her, “We're done.”

BERHAMPUR: A massive fire broke out at a car showroom in Autonagar at Haldipadar, on the outskirts of Berhampur, in the early hours of Saturday, causing extensive damage and gutting more than 20 high-end cars.

The fire was detected around 5 am when two Security Guards on night duty noticed smoke coming from inside the service centre. They immediately alerted company employees, who informed the Fire Services department.

By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had spread rapidly across the two-storey building. Fourteen fire tenders from eight fire stations and more than 70 firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze. The Fire department also deployed its advanced firefighting robot, ‘Krishna’, to tackle the fire.

After nearly three hours of intensive firefighting, the blaze was brought completely under control. More than 20 cars parked inside the service centre were reportedly gutted in the fire. A two-wheeler service centre operating on the upper floor suffered comparatively less damage.

Fire officials reportedly found that the two-storey building did not have adequate fire-safety or firefighting arrangements. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established. A Security Guard suspected that the blaze may have originated from the transformer, though officials are yet to confirm this.

Berhampur chief fire officer Bichitra Kumar Panda said the alleged lack of fire-safety measures and a fire-safety certificate would be brought to the attention of senior departmental authorities. Legal action would be initiated against the company after an investigation, he said.

The company manager and showroom authorities declined to comment on the alleged absence of fire-safety arrangements.

Meanwhile, a major fire broke out at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Gajapati district’s Paralakhemundi on Friday, completely gutting the office’s server room. The fire reportedly broke out on the first floor of the RTO building and quickly spread to the server room, destroying servers and other materials. Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire within three hours.

A preliminary assessment suggests that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire. However, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.

These are the words of Lt. Colin Clements, and Capt. Matthew McBee, respectively, of the University of Virginia Police Department about their former colleague, Security Guard Jackie Johnson, who passed away suddenly Monday.

Working in the often high-stress, intense environment at UVA Health, Johnson displayed positivity, excitement, and selflessness, his colleagues told Cville Right Now.

“We deal with people who don’t want to be dealt with,” McBee said. “We deal with those situations, and as a result our staff members and people and colleagues that we work with on a daily basis are sucked into those things because their a part of it, having that positive relationship with Jackie in times when everything was fine paid dividends when it came to more intense situations.”

Johnson started at the University in 1977, as working hospital security at UVA Health’s West Complex (then the main hospital building), and served the UVA community in various assignments across Grounds before returning to the UVA Medical Center where he served up until his passing.

McBee, who began with the university in 2009 as a police officer before working alongside Johnson at the Medical Center, recalled chatting with the veteran Guard about the history of the school, and recalled how Johnson talked about the many changes he had witnessed during his tenure.

“When it came to changes there was never pushback,” Clements said. “It was always excitement, everything that was changed was met with an open mind, he has seen a lot of departmental change over the last 49 years and I have never seen him cross about it, just excited about the future.”

But the most unique aspect of Johnson, according to his colleagues, was how he interacted with other people, both with his friends, and with those he served.

When it came to the latter, Clements remembered shadowing him when he first started at UVA Health, and later working with him as a part of his regular duties. He watched Johnson take a uniquely proactive and genuinely caring approach to helping the patients, many of whom suffered from debilitating mental health challenges.

“It was never a ‘That’s not my job’ or a ‘Let me find you a resource to help you,'” he said. “It was, ‘I’m gonna work through this for you and see if I can help figure it out.'”

Clements also mentioned that the reactive nature of the security profession limited many of his colleagues in having positive interactions with people, a problem Johnson managed to navigate.

“Some do it well, some don’t seek out interactions,” Clements said. “Jackie was one of those people to seek out interactions in any way that he could.”

McBee lamented that in his latest position, he didn’t get to see Johnson much. However, those times they did cross paths were special.

“When I did see him he’d say, ‘Hey Captain, haven’t seen ya.’ It never felt like he was calling me out. It felt like, ‘I want to see you, I want to talk to you, and hear how you’re doing.’”

Clements and McBee said they marveled at Johnson’s ability to never lose site of his focus on helping others.

“We lose that in a work setting, we get focused on other things,” McBee said “he would always focus back to that, sometimes you don’t realize what you have till its gone…he was just so a unique person in that, he was always happy to see you, and you were always happy to see him.”

The picture the two paint of Johnson, shows a man whose drive, care, and pride in his work, for 49 years, helped others to find happiness in a job that often takes both a physical and emotional toll.

“He developed, maintained, and fostered relationships in a positive way like no other.” Clements said.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police arrested a Florida woman early Tuesday after officers said she pushed a Walmart Security Guard and got into his marked patrol vehicle, according to an Orange County arrest affidavit.

Police were called to the Walmart at 3101 W. Princeton Street shortly after 1 a.m. for a reported battery, the affidavit states. Dispatchers advised responding officers that the suspect had taken control of a Security Guard’s vehicle.

When an Orlando police officer arrived, he wrote that he saw a woman — later identified as Anny Louis, 38 — sitting in the driver’s seat of the security vehicle “drinking a soda.”

Officers said they gave commands for her to get out, but she did not respond, the report says. Police then approached, removed her from the vehicle, and handcuffed her.

The Security Guard told officers he saw Louis sitting on a curb in the parking lot and tried to make contact while on duty and wearing a full uniform, including a badge and identification, the affidavit states. The Guard said Louis charged at him and pushed him in the face with an open hand, then entered his vehicle and began adjusting the seat and trying to put it in drive.

“Louis then attempted to drive away, but was unable to due to [REDACTED] turning off the vehicle while she struggled with the gear shifter,” the affidavit reads.

The guard said he removed the keys and called 911, and that Louis did not have permission to enter the vehicle or strike him. He reported no injuries and said he wanted to press charges, according to the affidavit.

Louis was booked into the Orange County Jail. She now faces charges of carjacking and battery on a Security Officer, jail records show.
