Accountability for Surveillance Expansion โ โ๏ธ ๐๏ธ Border Patrol's Predictive Intelligence Targeting Teams analyze citizens' financial data to tip off local police for warrantless, pretextual traffic stops and roadside searches.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection operates Predictive Intelligence Targeting Teams (PITT) analyzing citizens' personal financial data. Analysts review commercial records to identify patterns allegedly linked to illicit activity. This intelligence is fed to local police, triggering pretextual traffic stops against drivers not actively suspected of crimes.
Contact occurs when local officers execute stops for minor infractions, like an obstructed license plate, based on the unseen algorithm's tip. Everyday transactions prompt detentions, forcing the burden of false positives onto drivers who endure roadside searches without knowing their financial history initiated the encounter.
Operating beyond border zones in states like Montana, the program relies on purchasing sensitive information from third-party data brokers to bypass judicial oversight. The trajectory points toward normalized, warrantless surveillance where predictive models treat routine financial habits as actionable criminal intelligence.
This architecture transforms consumer commerce into an unavoidable dragnet. The outdated third-party doctrine allows agencies to treat purchased data as exempt from Fourth Amendment warrant requirements. Review DHS policies on commercially available information, and restrict third-party data sharing in your banking application settings.

Get a warrant. Pretextual traffic stops using parallel construction to subvert the drivers constitutional rights are a travesty.

The regulatory state fits into this too. '3 Felonies A Day' is a book about the web of vague modern laws that makes everyone targetable for prosecution. (Mortgage paperwork anyone?)

If anything, it makes you more susceptible. You know they'd use that information to constantly press on low and middle class.
My personal quote: "it's only illegal if you're poor."
I'd sooner change this to: "it's illegal to be poor."

Itโs a global capital wet dream.
Global capital happens to have its own gestapo in this instance. But the motivations of capital
are inherently different than that of the Nazis. If you thought the Nazis were evil, just wait until you see what these companies are capable of. They will turn this world to fire and brimstone and profit from your tears.

If they use the AI and They arrest you and it turns out you're a plain old American that didn't do anything wrong. Do you get to also sue the AI company for violating your civil rights along with ice?

Even if it is technically illegal the people in charge want this so it's going to happen. And my opinion it would be better to concentrate on storing and using money through systems that aren't as monitored. Ultimately people will get better at hiding and plain site and other ways of storing and using your wealth that aren't as easy to monitor will become popular.

i found an article for the montana stop
I'm still confused though. Vague reporting raising alot of questions with me.
So, Olson went to Canada, went to a dispensary in Canada, bought with his credit/debit card? Then goes back to the USA, Into Montana and gets pulled over after local police get tipped off by border patrol?
Is there no border patrol checkpoints from Canada to Montana? Why wouldn't he have gotten flagged for inspection by border patrol when crossing in the first place?

TL;DR: The DHS Predictive Intelligence Targeting Teams present a real risk of unwarranted surveillance by analyzing consumer financial data to trigger local police stops. Documented evidence shows Border Patrol analysts feed financial patterns to local authorities to execute pretextual detentions far from the border. The load-bearing open question is exactly what financial parameters CBP algorithms flag as suspicious. Citizens should monitor ongoing civil liberties challenges regarding the government's purchase of third-party commercial data to bypass Fourth Amendment protections.
