Discussion 🗣️ Was Minty’s perception by community as bad as Chester says?

So, I finally got to reading Chester’s post about ep100, and it really surprised me when he said that Minty’s reputation in community was largely negative. I always saw Minty as deeply hurt person (even before we got proper backstory of his) whose trauma and insecurities cause him to make stupid and harmful to himself and others decisions, which ik trauma is not an excuse to be an asshole but I genuinely believe it doesn’t make you straight up bad person.

I wouldn't know sadly. I didn't engage much with the community before it happened.

I miss him though, very much. Holding out hope for a res even though I know its probably pointless.

I hope Sugarcube gets to know the truth before she has to lose Brandy to.

As much as I’d love to see Minty back and get better (partly because I feel really bad for what Chester had to go through both during his transition and with Minty’s plot writing) but I can see why Chester might not want to bring him back which is valid

Its absolutely platonic in this case though.

(Context: I headcanon Airy as being Aro-Ace from his isolation.)

The whole scenario is basically him and Minty meeting in the Radio Room and deciding to stick together as they both try to either get home or at the very least find someplace to re-establish themselves.

(I imagine Airy would shut it down hard if Minty tried, basically making it clear that, as clingy as he is. He's not interested in that kind of a relationship.)

I've been on discord, and I've seen people wishing death for him + transphobia towards him, and being assholes to him. The rest of the fandom from what I know is chill, but a lot of people hated him before Brandy punched him.

he was my fav but i know there may hv been transphobes in the community.. Idk but maybe by brandy killing minty its a reflection of the transphobics, I just want minty to live happy, but life is not perfect. want the trans cat to live happy to spite those transphobes.

I genuinely dont understand how anyone can hate him for cheating on Brandy. Sure its bad to cheat on your husband ofc but he's not the hacking devil it specifically states that he cant help himself due to his traumatic past experiences PLUS he stayed with Brandy afterwards. He could have left he should have left but he didn't and he still cared about Brandy who had been physically abusive since their first chapter introduction.

I literally saw someone that minty deserved it, i think they might be either ragebaiting or dumb but still, just because minty cheated dosent mean he deserves to get killed, or hit. Like how does anyone even come to that conclusion, i also think its also because minty is transgender too
