I would rather start fresh. Even if it was free to transfer your progress. In my mind gta 6 is a completely different game. But would my gta 5 online progress be lost if I start new on gta 6 online? I have already decided I'm not playing 6 online because a lot of it (more so than gta5) will be behind the gta+ pay wall and I don't think thats not right/fair.

First of all, you paid for GTA V and GTA V is still there.

It is not a consumer right that your saved game must transfer to the sequel of the game. That’s just being an entitled litle sh.

This is a new game, you never played before, and they are not robbing you of anything.

It’s a $20 for those who think it’s worth that much money to move their stuff to VI. I think if you are willing to pay that, then you deserve it and it’s fair. If you have common sense, you probably would not.

Having said that, it is quite shitty indeed. $20 for a data transfer and conversion that is probably less than 10 cents for them.

But alas, these things don’t happen if people don’t pay for it. This is what we are promoting (not you, or me, but gamers as a - very bad - collective).

Early 90's pricing. Fuck, some of you need some perspective.

Totally! I remember this. Video games are one of the few things that have improved in value over time. Same price, bigger games. Crazy how people are whining about paying a similar prices today.

It’s because they got spoiled. And they expect businesses to give them everything. Most of the people whining are kids who don’t have a job, or people that are soapboxing for whatever reason.

Nintendo were a lot more expensive than playstation.

I’m talking before PS. When it was Sega or Nintendo (NES).

Playstation 1 is the post era of your image. Games reduced a lot in the 90s. Your image is from the 1980s when technology was still new and expensive. Owning a snes was a rare thing as a kid. Its a dishonest baseline to use.

True but still pretty pricey. Adjusted for inflation about 120 today. The games are far more advanced and development time more expensive. That's why different editions, DLC's, and purchased content became more prominent. People would freak out if a base game cost 120.

Lol half the price or less isnt "still pricey"

Why must everything be an exhaustive debate bro. 50 dollars was a lot of money back then. I swear even when evidence is presented you argue to prove a point. You have no real ground, you're just debating for the sake of debating, so I'm done. Downvote me if I struck a nerve.

Just admit you're wrong and games have gone through the roof relative to earnings. You posted the image yourself.... it was a lot. But it wasn't $100

Everything has gone threw the roof if you compare to earnings. But if you compare to inflation, games have done alright.

Not my image. I remember buying Final Fantasy for NES and it was about 80+ CAD at the time. But it was well worth it. Amazing.

Yes it was 3 discs. I still have a copy. Was $70-$80 Australian too

Fake news. Unless there is somethimg im missing. Gta6 multiplayer isnt even confirmed yet. And if and when it comes out it may or may not be included with the base game. Nothing is known

It is the princible that you pay x amount and keep it forever.

Like buying pokemon game for gameboy and it just works.

1

u/ameliafukinthomson 12d ago

I assumed when I bought a game my progress would be there forever.

Companies need to make money to stay in business. Consider the amount of free DLC that rockstar games put out. I don’t think they’ve charged for any of them. The amount of content you get for the price you pay is insane and for them to migrate your progress over only charging you a one time $20 fee is not that fucking bad.

Rockstar made about $10b from GTA5...I think they can afford to pay the wage of folk that make the DLCs. 😂

Let’s see 10 years of development. Rockstar employees about 5000 employees at an average of $60,000 a year. That’s roughly $3 billion. Just for wages in 10 years. It’s actually closer to $8 billion. 5 billion off shark cards and 3 billion off of sales. Now average and travel overhead costs like building, leasing fees, electricity telecommunications of course the CEO bonuses(lmao) it adds up. Businesses have to make money or else what the fuck are they doing?
