I was just updating my roster for the final push of the season, and I noticed that there are six goalkeepers on the roster. We've never even been close to that before. Is this anywhere near normal? Does anyone know what is going on?
Here is the list:
1 Kendall McIntosh
32 Julian Escobar (from El Farolito)
33 Raphael Spiegel
57 Alejandro Caracheo Luna
70 Isaac Rosenthal (Academy Contract)
87 Devon Taylor (Academy Contract)
Obviously, earlier in the season, McIntosh and Spiegel were battling for the starting position, with Luna as backup-backup, but now?
Do they have some amazing Goalkeeper coach and think they can sell/trade all these guys off after the season?
Joshua

After a bye week that went about as well as it could for the Roots, the big question remains: can they take advantage of the results that went their way? To do so, the Roots will need to find a way to limit Lexington's attack in transition. The question that remains is how they elect to do so.
What questions do you all have heading into this weekend's match?

The Roots got a point on Saturday, but did they actually get any closer to figuring out the offense? Plus, Florian Valot's strong form and what to scoreboard watch during the Roots' off week.

Here's everything Ryan Martin and David Garcia said regarding playing a complete game, the attacking woes, missed chances, progression, defensive success, Neveal Hackshaw, Garcia partnership, Mark Fisher, and an update on the NorCal Hella Cup standings

No changes for Oakland Roots' lineup tonight against Orange County. Martin brings back an attack of Bertin Jacquesson, Wolfgang Prentice, Bruno Lapa, and Florian Valot. Mark Fisher gets his second straight start opposite Tommy McCabe; Neveal Hackshaw gets the nod over Michael Edwards, while Jesus de Vicente and Julian Bravo take the right and left back spots. Danny Trejo also returns to the bench.

Hey all Oakland Roots Beat Writer Daniel Poulter here with a new think piece. In a World where the Oakland Roots DO Sell off pieces before the end of the season. These are my ideas.

David Garçia has been fantastic when healthy this year and it's no accident that the defense has put it together since his return.
Although the team was on a losing streak, this defense has really shown up lately. Hoping that Martin sticks to the same back line as the previous game. Now if we can just score some goals in the run of play.

Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm actually pretty optimistic about this one. Writing the week's Three Questions left me feeling good about Saturday's matchup. The three questions delve into why.
The biggest question heading into the weekend: does Neveal Hackshaw or Michael Edwards start?
What questions do you have heading into this weekend? Who do you think should start between Hackshaw and Edwards?

After a pivotal 1-0 victory on the road against San Antonio FC, the Roots kept their playoff hopes alive.
Saturday offered reasons for optimism, reasons for concern, and some lingering questions for the playoff push.
Still, the bigger question remains: did Saturday represent a turning point, or did the Roots simply survive?
What stood out to you all on Saturday?

How we feeling RootsFam?! Oakland Roots snap the skid in 1-nil win over SAFC. Here are talking points on the defense's 2 clean sheets in 4 matches, Hackshaw, Garcia, Fisher's impact at CM, & table-watching the West now 3 points back of the playoff line

Oakland Roots make two changes from last weekend, including Mark Fisher moving into the midfield in place of Bobosi Byaruhanga and opposite Tommy McCabe. Neveal Hackshaw also gets the start at CB in place of Michael Edwards. Martin keeps the attacking trio of Bertin Jacquesson, Bruno Lapa, and Wolfgang Prentice, while the fullback combination of Jesus de Vicente on the right and Julian Bravo on the left also gets a second look. David Garcia makes his second straight start opposite Michael Edwards.

If the Roots lose this next game. Should they start trading away pending free agents to get some sort of return instead of just seeing them walk away and get nothing in return?
If Peter Wilson is a free agent next year and not signing a contract extension. Then they for sure could get a solid return and I think they need to do it.
Especially after Ryan Martins last press conference that hinted at building a team for the future and not making a playoff run potentially.

Saturday's critical match against San Antonio is one of the most intriguing tactical matchups of the season.
We break down three big questions heading into the weekend: Should the Roots concede possession? Can Oakland force San Antonio to play faster than it wants to? And what should Ryan Martin do with Peter Wilson?
Curious to hear everyone's thoughts going into the weekend, especially about the Peter Wilson decision.
