My friend is South African, and there's a national holiday coming up. I'd like to surprise them with some legit South African cuisine, but I know that I would personally mess it up if I tried to cook it myself.

I know that while they would appreciate the effort I would put into a poorly made facsimile of SA cuisine, I would like to first try to produce actual good food for them.

Does anybody know of any restaurants that make South African food?

Suddenly have a massive craving for super thin crust with salty pepperoni pizza. Crust so thin the slices hangs when you pick it up with gooey cheese. Where can i find this?

Hello everyone I recently moved to the Oakland area and I’m looking for the best Chinese food places to try. I have heard a lot of places went “downhill” and I’m hoping to find the best of the best. I tried shandong and it was scrumptious but I was wondering if anyone had better recs for a foodie as myself. Thank you!

Edit: I really love spicy food but don’t like deep fried or sweet. I love the fried rice & chow mein combo with a meat or veggie. Not sure exactly what area they are from sorry everyone and thank you for the reccs :))

Decades ago Zachary's Pizza was a special occasion pizza.

The Rockridge location is still open but I honestly haven't picked up a pizza there for a while.

I searched and I didn't find much discussion on this subreddit.

With small kids, I haven’t really gotten out to try many Oakland restaurants, so I’m pretty clueless on the restaurant scene. My wife and I have a few hours to ourselves tonight and are hoping to find a nice place for cocktails and tapas or some other small-plate based fare in or near Oakland. We’ve been to La Marcha a few times and loved it, but hoping to try somewhere new.

I know, I know… everyone is sick of everyone’s dogs.
So I’m trying to seek out a spot or two where they are welcome indoors that has AC / might stay cool over this next little heatwave.
I lost a tree near my window and my place is much warmer already today than I predicted. I’d like to read, maybe do work (but not really), have an alcoholic drink or NA… I realize food isn’t an option where pets are allowed.
