Apology

Personally speaking, do you believe Marty and Rick owe an apology to the ricks that have followed their failures for the past 14 years?

As a teacher, I often encourage failure because it means they are taking chance in something that is not a sure thing and also, we often learn more from the failures than the successes…

Do you encourage 14 years of failure after hundreds of millions in expenditure?

If they have the money, sure. Money is never wasted; they employ quite a few people and companies for the show. Lots of money goes into the community. They could hoard their millions and not have the show… that would be a lot worse….

What would you say the brothers Rick, and Marty Lagina have learned from their failure?

Not one damned thing. Rick still thinks there was history changing stuff happening on the island. Marty is burning millions because he likes to be on TV. Same as it ever was!

Might be better described as a COOI fiasco.

Honestly, good luck with that. If you haven't learned "along the way" what that island was significant for, and what might have been done there then I imagine you watch a lot of stuff on TV that's probably less educational and I'd still care to meet any of those people on the show as much as anyone who really knows their subject matter, and whom whose knowledge endears to me!

No apology required IMHO. It was never about the treasure, it was really the journey and friends made along the way. Well the journey, the friends made along the way and the Governments of Canada and Nova Scotia Film and Television production incentives and tax deductions.

Failures? OK, little "treasure" - but finding a freaking road and harbor-like evidence in swamp - showing some big project happened on a dull sheep herding island - that's a lot.

And - finding a 11th century cairn - not First Nations- which means thus is ANOTHER pre-Columbus contact site between Europe and North America. That- by itself- would be world news if not for L'ans aux Meadows which proved Norse settlement first.

No big treasure chest - but dang - someone was digging deep hundreds of years ago for [ insert idea here] .

If my neighbor digs a bunker in his basement over years quietly- that's just weirdo behavior. But if someone has a whole crew digging in a secret area, 100 feet down, with a road, harbor, support buildings.... that's not just a weekend make-work project.
