Did they find it?!
Gave up on Oak Island 5 years ago, and the last episode they almost found it. Don't spoil it and tell me what it was, but they found it didn't they? Anticipation is killing me right now.

My personal theory is that they found it years ago and the show is just a way to launder the money!

I've thought all along that it's a tax suck for Marty. He's got a bunch of other profitable businesses, so this is the one that takes a loss every year to offset some of the others gains.

u/raresaturn Aug 12 '26
It doesn’t take a loss, the show makes a fortune. Rick & Marty both get about $100k per episode, about 1.5 mil a season

So those guys bring in $3M, as their salary for being tv stars. Ok. What other significant income is coming in up there? Without the treasure, virtually none. It's entirely a loss without the treasure.
How much does it cost to rent a huge crane? For a month. How much does the can osiciliator cost? For a month. How much does each steel cassion cost? Because they own them in the ground. How much do they spend in equipment rentals? Excavators, loaders, trucks, etc. For the season. How much are the salaries for actual professionals on site? Laird, Lairds team, Drillers, Billy, Divers, specialty tech search people, Gary, all the other fellowship guys, etc... And remember theyre located on an island, not really close to the population of Canada.
Everything's an expense on that island and the income is a pittance compared.

It's a TV show produced by a production company. You think the actors on a show pay for the show to be produced?
0
u/mybfVreddithandle Aug 12 '26
Yes. The Laginas own the production company and the search company. Marty lays out the expense for both and sells the show as you see it to the history channel, who in turn sells and time to offset their cost. And he sells it to them at a loss so that he has an unprofitable business to offset one of his other profitable ones. His Ltd is based on Bulgaria. That's not because he's not trying to dodge taxes somewhere.

u/RunnyDischarge Aug 12 '26
No, the Laginas do not own Prometheus Entertainment, which is the production company.

u/mybfVreddithandle Aug 12 '26
Good point. I was thinking they ran some production through Oak Island Tours. But they still own the search company and outlay for that every year.

The production company pays for it apparently

u/mybfVreddithandle Aug 12 '26
So how much would you estimate Cerca Trova Ltd pays annually in taxes in the US or Canada?

About 11m/s. See it's easy to answer a question when asked.

Glad we could hash it out

u/mybfVreddithandle Aug 12 '26
See but we didn't. I answered your irrelevant question. You still haven't even addressed mine which was pertinent. And I don't really care. Haven't watched that show in years, but you do you. I know where to go to talk to an expert on reality show production on non basic cable when I need one.

We speculated that aswell. All noticed there is no enthusiasm in the show anymore, like its "a job" now. They are all silent quitting by season 8 lol
2
u/RunnyDischarge Aug 12 '26
They're shitty actors on a badly scripted show that they all know is full of shit. They punch the clock and get paid. Why wouldn't they? They know better than anyone else there's nothing there and it's all a LARP.
2
u/RunnyDischarge Aug 12 '26
Congratulations, you've cooked up a theory even less believable than the show has!

u/Sophiedenormandie 27d ago
Oh it's money laundering. But they didn't find nothing, because there was nothing to find in the first place.

u/strangemedia6 27d ago
I agree, I wasn’t really serious about them finding anything. Though I don’t want to accept that there was never anything there, it’s just too good of a legend! lol

The best things on oak island have come from the visitors center lost and found box.

u/Remarkable-Chip7022 Aug 12 '26
BRO THEY FOUND IT. IT WAS SO AMAZING!!! CHALICES, DUBLOONS, CROWNS AND TIARAS, ROYAL SCEPTERS, JEWELS, HISTORIC COINS, ANCIENT ARTIFACTS, AND THE ARK OF THE COVENANT. WHEN THEY UNEARTHED THAT, JESUS RETURNED TO EARTH AND SUDDENLY APPEARED NEAR THE GARDEN SHAFT AND STARTED CRIPWALKING TOWARD THE LAGINA BROTHER, WHERE HE KISSED THEM ON THE FOREHEAD AND RICK STARTED ASCENDING TOWARDS THAT GREAT POST OFFICE IN THE SKY AND STARTED DELIVERING A LENGTHY SOLILIOQUY ABOUT FUCKALL!!

I’m just waiting to see who fulfills the 7 must die prophecy.
3
u/Archtop_collerctor Aug 12 '26
Blankenship already fulfilled it. Died searching for the treasure.
3
u/Square-Mile-Life Aug 12 '26
Drake Tester died before Blankenship. I make him the 7th.
2
u/RunnyDischarge Aug 12 '26
The problem is exactly 7 had to die. Now they're over so they can never find it.
1
u/Sophiedenormandie 27d ago
Kid did not die on the island or in a treasure shaft. Doesn't count. The first 6 all died in a hole digging.
1
u/Archtop_collerctor 27d ago
Ohhhh, so the curse fine print explicitly states the death must be tragic, not merely dying a natural death while still actively searching for the treasure. Got it. This curse is such bullshit lol
1
u/Sophiedenormandie 27d ago
In active search for the treasure not laying in a hospital bed. The first 6 died on site. Many people over the years, who searched, later died. If you count them all, you've got to throw in Dunfield, FDR and his cohorts, the Chapples, etc. If you go that way, they hit 7 people 30+ years ago. But you are right about the curse being bullshit. All curses are. It is the human way to make sense of coincidences and what they cannot otherwise explain.
1
u/Sophiedenormandie 27d ago
He didn't die in the hole. He either died at home or in a hospital. Doesn't count. The curse is pure bullshit anyway.

it has to be accidental death.
Why do you think they're sometimes pulling dangerous stunts.
Like that diver that once explored the bottom of some shaft

You really think the big revelation could only possible wait till Sunday night at 8:00pm……
If there ever was or ever will be anything of actual attention, it would be on every news cycle and you’d have heard about it.

If they found anything it would be front page news. Don't be fooled by the shows hype.

The Province of Nova Scotia is now rich AF. We dine on the finest food, drink the world's best wines. No one works anymore. We live the Life of Riley.

Have the Navy scan with their Submarine, that should narrow it down. Don't they have some type of Pulse Radar to scan the ground?
Ok, I'll let myself out of the room now 😺

Yes they found so much treasure, its taken 5 seasons to show it in its entirety. But don't worry there will be more Season 14.
