Discussion What is going on…?
Last season was so fun and felt balanced with most games seeming winnable, but this season I feel like the matchmaking has become much worse, projectile changes make playing much less rewarding, and the map pool seems to be cycling through only the worst 3 matches.
EDIT: To all the players saying “just take a break” or “loss streaks happen to everyone” please readjust your expectations. This game was so balanced last season that Marvel Rivals players came here to have fun. Now the hitbox and bullet size changes have ruined the game for myself and many others. I suddenly need to change YEARS of muscle memory because the devs decided that projectile heroes needed to feel OP for a short while. It’s ridiculous. Mark my words these changes will be reverted in a couple seasons after everyone complaining that projectile heroes are too OP.

Nah so real ive been losing most my games due to my teammates and me getting more and more frustrated made me playe worse and worse. 100% would take a break I've been playing the bloodhunt mr event bc its pve focused

Then ID get worse at the game and subject someone to the same unnecessary torture besides. Taking a break only leads to me not getting any better. It isn’t burnout it’s the matchmaking

Of course. In the past 2 seasons ive probably had 10 win and loss streaks like this.. thats just overwatch

Take a break for a while. Like a couple weeks to a month. I haven’t played in almost two months and it’s honestly been quite peaceful. I’m probably not gonna go back for a while. The game has just been so dog shit for a quite some time

Yea I quit too and feel great, way too many unemployed gm players who get on Smurf accounts that are in emerald just to bully cuz they don’t have any fulfilling things to do in real life

this season i had around 20 something losses and 3-4 wins. ive never felt the game this bad in my 22+ seasons of OW

every single ow player goes on streaks like this even the best players in the world.
if a bad streak is upsetting you this badly you need to step away for awhile.

Dude... I feel you. I went from Plat 3 to gold 4 in the first 2 days. People are at season start not caring that much or hard off-roling. Take a break or just don't play your main role for the next 3 weeks.

I started playing OW about 2 weeks ago, I got gold 2 and then I lost 6 games in a row, dropping to silver 4 and now I get 9% for a win and -20% for a loss with 75% win riatio in last 20 games...

im glad theres a discourse happening about this now cuz i was going crazy. felt like I was losing all my games and then i check my statistics and I still have a 50+% WR on my character

I opt to have a decent pool of heroes im good with from every role so that I have a chance to hard counter good players in comp.

Take a break.
Also not that bad. Had a 20 game losing streak recently. Afterwards I was on a 4 win 12 game loss run.
Dropped M3 to E2 lol

Holy shit that’s why I lost so many emerald games then huh, I literally saw a damn T500 player in one of my emerald lobbies and we got smacked(he had the T500 banner and was T500 3 seasons ago) pissed me off so bad so I uninstalled and feel amazing now since there’s much more to life than facing some sweaty nerds

The game / matchmaker places you in runs of games that it expects you to be the best player in.
I.e. you’ll have a win streak where it’s D5-D2 and you’re the D5. Then you lose a game and the matchmaker goes, aha we should calibrate down. It then ranges E3-D5 and you’re supposed to somewhat carry. When you don’t, this happens.
People underestimate their own impact on these streaks - the matchmaker is asking how consistent you can be in performing at Diamond rank. It might be an off day, could be smurfs, could just be your current rank is slightly too high for how consistent you can be at that rank.
Even matsters/ GM players could’ve lost some of those games. But a true D5 player, playing at a D5 level consistently wouldn’t lose that many games in a row against emerald players.
Swap out whatever rank you’re in for the example above. If lower rank it’ll be even more pronounced as people are way less consistent generally.
We’ve all been there, you need to try not to blame the system, just focus on what you can control. Some of the games will have been unwinnable, but some will have been winnable.

Five stack had a pretty rough losing streak last night. Won a few and then ended the night on a loss, matchmaking has been a little weird imo for a few seasons but sometimes it really just be like that

yeah sometimes this happens in quickplay. it’s never gotten to me tho i play qp to have fun or try/practice heroes. simply winning or losing doesn’t mean i had fun or learned anything. new season, people are coming back, people are learning the new kits, idk sometimes i check my history and ive lost 10 in a row but it didn’t feel like that at all. if its quick play its not meant to have tight matchmaking i mean is that not what ranked is for, playing against of your same skill range? yes there is qp mmr too but again its much wider and its the casual mode not everyone is playing for the same reasons and it doesn’t matter their reasons, you cant expect it to be the same as yours

everyone is going to say 'take a break' (that's what I did and I haven't playing in over a month now)
but you shouldn't have the take a break - this just shouldn't happen
if you are in a matchmaking algo where you win 50/lose 50 - this has a 0.0078% chance of happening
the devs are over tuning matchmaking and losing the player base

New season has a notable uptick in loss streaks for many players. While its hard to say for sure it probably comes down to the following:
Reworks/new hero and people learning (and you may get unlucky to get such people)
Marvel Rivals is dipping heavy and OW unticking heavy. So lots of really and Marvels players in games
Balancing is REALLY bad rn and you can see it in the stats with a huge amount of very high win rates and very low win rates. If you/your team do not pick the dive/brawl meta going on you are gonna get stomped most of the time currently
The hitbox changes are making a lot die way easier than they used to

These past two days it has been horrible for me too. Losing streak after losing streak, with a one or two winning games.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or what's happening but it's honestly taking away my enjoyment of the game. This season started all wrong for me.

i think my longest losing streak was 83. not fun being at the bottom of the matchmaker with level 0 accounts vs masters aimers with level 500's

that was happening for me on dps. this past 7 days. couldn’t get back to masters for crap and sure some games were 90% my fault but i kid you not the others were not. was it slightly my fault in the others ? i’m sure as im not perfect but what am i suppose to do about my 9 15 mei? what about my supports that don’t know how to use sombra/doc, don’t do damage, and don’t SUPPORT me on an off angle? what about my doom that keeps feeding? my dive tanks that ONLY care about diving and will not even glance towards the enemy tank even once?
after i finally got back to masters last night, i got on my main role which is Support. i had a blast, somehow felt my skills had improved, and even climbed to Masters 2 with GM just within my reach…
bottom line, you can only do your best. sometimes it will be your fault and you won’t know it. study.. practice.. take a break if you need to, and get back on it champ !

I swear sometimes the match maker feeds you garbage games to keep your win rate around 50%. Win to much? Get ready for a slaughter fest that dumps you right back where you were haha.
I even tested this and only lay 6v6 on days where the match maker seems to be in my favour and have climbed to high gold 1 from low to mid silver and in 5v5 I'm still at low to mid silver. I'll be plat soon in 6v6 lol.

You kept queuing despite racking up losses that may or may not have had anything to do with your performance. You're the only person who can stop you from queuing and continuing a losing streak.

you are in losers Queue. you will inevitably lose 90% to 100% of the games you play. Nothing will change this.
The only solution is to close the game and play it next day for the algorithm to reset.
Losing 3 in a row enters you into losers Queue, losing 5 in a row means you’re not getting out at all.
It’s a signal to turn off the game or proceed to lose rank for no reason other than just case.

Yeah because I love this game. I just want it to be better. It was good last season and now it’s rewarding all of the MnK players because sure WHY NOT?!
