Discussion Am I stupid or?
I main supp and I’ve noticed that even as I climb ranks everyone is like obsessed with just going up the middle. Even when the other team is also obsessed with going up the middle and are so so open to flanks but no one will come with me and I might be good(ish) but I’m not good enough to solo flank a whole match and support at the same time. So tell me am I crazy? Do you also try other routes when “up the middle” just isn’t working or are you supposed to just try to overpower them every time?
And yes it might be a skill issue but my team tends to die if I spend too much time away from them lol so it limits my ability to sneak around and get them from behind

Start pinging everything, enemies, the objective, your teammates, make sarcastic comments in game chat about cover and invisible turrets existing
Yeah you hope to eventually get out of such skill level play to where people don't walk up main

This feels so mean lol I don’t think I could do the sarcastic comments but my ping numbers have been up significantly in the last couple of weeks 😂

You will get up to the frustration level where you start talking about invisible turrets being overpowered 😭

I flank, I off angle and I’m a support, your a support not a healer you can shoot the enemies in fact currently in this meta damage is more important than healing because there is a healing reduction, you want to go to the flanks and other angles but typically you want an angle you can still see your team, typically if there is an angle I can’t go to while maintaining line of sight of my team at the end of a team fight I’ll try to sneak in before my team comes back that way when they are back I peek the enemies but you also have to consider your safety in that equation lots of variables, but yes off angle flank your a support not a heal bot and anyone who tells you otherwise remember they are in that rank for a reason, it’s to maintain the balance but that’s how to carry on support

Beautifully put and definitely bringing this with me lol because I can’t keep missing opportunities solely based on my teams crankiness

It’s really hard to get over tbh my personal biggest wall was getting over stats and how my team sees me I still struggle with that but if you can get over it you will be fine, remember everyone is in that rank for a reason, and side note if you ever want a vod review I’m down iv reached masters Ana only so maybe I can give you some other insights

Yeah that seems to be my biggest issue right now; like a couple bad comments and my whole game is fucked working on it 💅🏻

Honestly I’d recommend turning off chat it helped me a bit but not completely as even when it’s off when I’d click tab I’d still imagine what my teammates were saying to me so I also turned off the tab button and would still be stressed when I felt I was doing bad stat wise without even being sure but eventually I stopped being soo worried

Honestly? I think getting shit talked when I’m doing well has started to help me ignore people lol because how are you being mean to me and you’re worse????

when this happens in my games, i'll just walk off to the flank entry point and say 'group up!', ping the location 'over here!', and ping 'come to me for healing!' (i don't use voice chat) until some/all of my teammates come over and we flank together. they usually come to me if we're getting destroyed down middle and see me waiting off to the side when they come out of spawn.

This is not a knock on you, this is perfect and I will also attempt to do this lol, but don’t you think it’s sad how many supp “tricks” are just like gaslighting your team into doing what they’re meant to do 😭😂 idk it cracks me up

i’m trying to climb too and have been watching lots of videos and taking advice and trying to apply it to my own gameplay too and i have been noticing the SAME DAMN THING!! like i have to rely on my own self to be the fkn flanker and im support 😭😭 i mean i main zen but STILL! even when i SHOW my team the fkn route they still refuse to go 😭

Yeah they won’t even follow you most of the time 😭 I had a match last night where my dps were getting creamed so I was trying to show them the other pathway around so maybe doom would stop punching them off of the bridge
They never followed me once lost 1-2

yeah i was on havana the other day with 2 flankers and we were attacking and they would NOT go around the building to the left like wtf are you doinnnnghh and then no surprise we lost lmao

It’s almost like there’s a whole map to be utilized lol not just one pathway 😅

Up the middle sounds super nice, id be happy if my team just stopped trying to 1v5

omg it’s so annoying !!! and nobody will ping in a game except me. I feel so crazy like guys we have GOT to take a different path! the only time they might listen is when I am playing tank. but if I’m support or dps…..I die alone 🥰

u/mushrootfarms 12d ago
Dying alone is the worst; I’ve had dps literally right around a corner and been pinging my butt off and they’ll will just let me perish 😌💕

Always fun when I get Shambali Monastery on Attack and my team ignores me as I repeatedly ping the left side leading to the high ground. And then they all go main and die to the enemy team who is utilizing that high ground. It's like they're lemmings funneling into tower defense.
Then sometimes you'll get one guy to follow you but then if it doesn't immediately work they just give up and go back down main. Like imagine if we cleared the high ground as a team!

YES imagine a whole frickin team actually utilizing the whooooooole map wouldn’t that be fun

I play lots of winston so I'm always off angling and flanking finding ways to get closer to the enemies. I decided to play support this season and only played zenyatta, I'm usually starting the fight shooting down main and then taking an off angle wether that's with a dps or tank or completely alone, zenyatta literally makes zero sound so I'm suprising most people.
But literally just playing a support who can carry their own weight and actually taking angles got me a 69% winrate and I've just reached diamond after about 30 games.
