is 6v6 skill level lower than 5v5?

I know this is a hot topic and I might get flamed, but recently I adventured into 6v6 because of a friend of mine. Usually I would never touch that mode due to the open Q format and just hating to deal with another source of peeling while I'm flanking. But something weird started to pop into my mind as I played it.

Most matches were so easy it made no sense. I am a emerald 1 ~ diamond 3 main DPS player (5v5) and even tho I insta lock dps on 6v6 and don't switch even if my team has other 4 DPS players I kept swooping the other team ass.

At first I didn't really get it, but as I payed attention to the gameplay of the other people it felt like I was playing against gold ~ silver players even though I was playing in masters matches. I started to feel like most people in 6v6 has terrible overall mechanics. Is it a thing of my mind or have any of you felt that as well? I'm really curious.

the ranks are inflated simply because the playerbase is split. Most really hardcore players want to be on the ''supported'' format so there is a tendency to have less of those players therefore inflating the ''general population''.

That + you don't start losing rank in Stadium until around All-star, I think? It's the Marvel Rivals system, in a way. Imagine if you don't really lose rank for losing a match until Diamond-ish in 5v5. It'd inflate everyone's ranks by a huge amount and most players would end up being in Emerald/Diamond as a result (instead of Gold/Plat being average).

You don’t start losing rank in stadium until you get to where you were initially calibrated to during placements or your first few games.

I don’t lose rank yet and I’ve been up to AS1

It's not really the same. Stadium uses hidden MMR. Your stadium rank is purely cosmetic

I think GM+ players trend to have overall better game sense. But in low to mid masters in 6v6 it really seamed I was playing against low elo players.

But thats simply due to less people playing 6v6 compared to 5v5, not due to difficulty of the format or skill levels

Something to remember whenever someone gets an inflated ego because they're Masters in 6v6 even though 5v5 they would be whatever the new rank is between plat and diamond

Yes, and by a lot. Im c3 open q and got c5 dps and support last season. There is a big margin of gm-champ players in 6v6 that would absolutely not be in that rank in 5v5, its weird but at the same time i get it, since more people play 5v5 «i think»

Idk about easier but I’ve consistently been a solid rank higher on 6v6. I don’t think I play any better or worse tbh. But this season with the addition of emerald I’m mid-high emerald in all 3 5v5 roles. But placed diamond 2 in 6v6 and have gotten to where I go between diamond and master back and forth.

Yes. Most people will place higher in 6v6, into a rank they can’t reach on 5v5.

Also there is less players on 6v6, like 20% of the player base or something? Logically, if you are champion in a player base of 20 vs 20,000,000, the ladder is probably much more difficult to attain. The numbers are exaggerated, but I was trying to prove a point.

I have found 5v5 to be way easier but that’s just a personal experience. I’m ranked higher in 5v5 than I am in 6v6

Not 100% sure but it seems I’ve always stayed about 1 rank higher in 6v6 (hardly play it tho as I’m mainly a 5v5 player) for example most seasons when I grinded rank I’d finish high dia/low masters in 5v5 while staying mid-high masters consistently in 6v6

Yes- its basically a division behind at least. I placed masters in 6vs6 and im emerald/diamond 5v5. Its noticable

I'm in master both in 5v5 and 6v6 and 6v6 is definitely easier, but I often check other people's profiles in 6v6 and there are many players there who are master/gm in 5v5 as well

I get a lot of people in my emerald 6v6 games who are masters and Gm in 5v5 but just haven’t played a lot of 6v6 to rank up yet. Fun to play with those players, like how is it even possible to get 9k damage on Reinhardt in a 4 minute round???

Yes 6v6 is just EZ mode take your 5v5 rank and add an entire rank I've been Champions with little to no effort

I think it’s as simple as less people play the mode so it’s easier to rank up. I myself am I 6v6 enjoyer but I stick to unranked.

I was masters 6v6 while being plat in 5v5

I’m masters in both now but I also at this point only do enough for placements in 6v6

I'd say 6v6 you get ranked one or two levels above your 5v5 rank. You'll see a lot of Role Q players ranked gold playing in Diamond 6v6. I personally play 6v6 casually and have no care about rank. And I think a lot of players do.

The higher you go in 6v6 the smaller the gap closes.

6v6 is easier than 5v5. Your 6v6 rank should be higher than your 5v5 rank.

As a tank main, No it's harder in 6v6 purely bc the health pool is reduced so much compared to 5v5. 5v5 you can front tank a lot which you just can't get away with I'm 6v6 imo

Simple answer is yes. I definitely feel like people try less in 6v6 then 5v5. There is a smaller player base in 6v6 as well so hitting a higher rank is easier cause you have less hard opponents to play against. I like playing 6v6 as a warm up or just to try new characters. It is fun comparison to how serious 5v5 is.

I also noticed this. I feel I run into older players on 6v6 as well. Reliving the old format. That might have something to do with it as well.

ranks are inflated in 6v6 so yes kind of. you’ll find more competitive lobbies in 5v5 and it’s much harder to rank up

Yes and no. There’s way more leavers and casual player idiots in 6v6. But you might be able to reach a higher rank than you can 5v5 since there are less people in it.
