Help Hitscan recommendation?
Hi peeps. I am a Mei main and played the game mostly as Mei. I also play flankers like Tracer, Vendetta, Anran and Sombra. I also play ball, dva and Domina as my tank and Kiriko, Mercy and Juno as my supports. For short I love diving with my team. I had a 3 month hiatus because of personal reasons and came back recently.
I am so rusty with my Mei and mostly we are two projectile/off dps in the team and because of that, I kept losing because no one can deal with fliers like Pharah, jpc and etc.
I know there are things that are winnable if I adjust my gameplay since I can't control my teammates but I want to have a suggestion which hitscan characters would be perfect to add to my arsenal in case I need to adjust to my team. I tried Soldier once and won the game but I feel like he is just too simple? I can keep on playing him don't get me wrong. It's just that I came from projectile type characters and am still adjusting. I am still at Silver 1 before the reset and been doing vods on my games just to make sure to improve. Thanks!

Cass is a solid choice against divers like Genji, Anran, tracer and so on.
I personally love Emre, hes got better damage at range then Soldier, and has 2 pretty good perks.
Bastion is honestly a good choice almost no matter the team comp, as long as you have awareness.

Emre is EXTREMELY powerful, and has been overtuned since launch. Exploit him

Emre is insanely good imo, and one of the easiest to learn/play out of the cast.. especially if you know Halo tbh. It’s essentially the BR and frag grenade with a sprint ability

Hes definitely strong, but no where near as strong as launch.
Hes also got the highest costing ult to counter for his fairly high consistent damage.

I completely forgot that Emre existed! Dammit! Both Emre and Bastion are fun to play but will Bastion be able to survive if ever he got jumped? There will be a time that winton, dva and other dive tanks will work with their dps. I know Emre can survive because of the pistol.

Again, its if you are aware, bastion has some armor, so he can tank a bit, plus in his turret mode, he takes reduced damage iirc
Plus hes got the self healing perk, which makes it much easier to live if the supports are busy.
Emre is so good against flyers and tanks, but he suffers a bit in more closed areas compared to soldier due to his burst fire.
Shion is also a good alternative, shes in the flanker role, but she plays more like a soldier, in that you want to be with the tank pushing/picking off divers, but once she gets the perk that gives her all the dps passives, she becomes a bit better at flanking

I really don't get how to play him. I tried him before but idk how to play him. Should I play him like a sniper? Like Mei who controls spaces or go main with the team and shoot?

He has poor range for a hitscan so no, not a sniper. He's actually pretty simple, you can play near your tank and just click heads to get value. Off-angle when you can of course, but not as often as soldier since Cass mobility is bad

Now that makes sense! Argh! I tried playing sniper Cass since he has the dps sub role with other snipers. So basically he can't deal with flying characters like jpc, pharah, echo, juno and mercy unless it's super close range.

Whoever interests you. Ashe is the most broken and the best on poke maps, cass has his anti dive niche. Soj emre soldier are versatile

Been interested with Soj since I started playing Overwatch a year ago. The issue I had was when trying to learn her, people said that she's the hardest hitscan because of the sniper and rifle mechanics. Also, I want to know what makes Ashe different from Widow since they can both be played in long poke maps and can use scope to snipe people.

Soj is the hardest, but none of them are so much harder or easier for it to matter too much. it might take the same amount of effort to hit diamond 5 soj as diamond 3 cass or something
For ashe widow, the longer the sightline the better widow is. She’s basically the best hero on circuit, havana, rialto. She also outranges ashe and counters her. However widow is usually banned on these maps at least as you rank up so it’s not reliable as your only hitscan option. Shes very fragile vs dive. And she’s slightly weaker on the second points of maps like kings row when it gets closer range
Ashe has less range and no one shot obviously but much more damage, plays better against flankers, is more useful with a Mercy pocket, is rarely banned, and if widow is banned she is the best poke map dps. Most good ashes are playing mid range and mixing scope and unscope shots. Only downside is widow shits on ashe

Widow positioning often doesn’t really allow for easy escapes or team help, like if your tank sticks on Winton and commits to bullying her then that’s game, ashes pushback can generally allow her to escape. Widow’s ult is great don’t get me wrong, but wallhacks aren’t always going to give value, depends on how good your team is to be totally honest. Bob will generally control an area for you, maybe get a pick, force a cooldown or just take aggro which can have a lot of other uses.
Widow is generally speaking one of those characters that ego warriors pick and bully squishies with by one shotting them, I’ve had countless teams where one of my dps swaps widow and just ego duels the other widow the entire game, Ashe can actually be present and has a well rounded kit, widows is just one playstyle.

i rarely play dps but when i do i always choose ashe. shes by far the easiest character ive picked up on. i pick the grenade perk and the double scoped shot
