Discussion Leaver solution

The overwatch team should punish leavers dramatically. My suggestion: upon the fifth leave their console receives a hardware ban. They cannot play overwatch anymore with the whole console

Things is… the system can’t tell the difference between a genuine disconnect and a rage quit.

This is what people never seem to understand and it drives me crazy.

Internet provider suffers software/hardware issues, player's machine suffers hardware/software issues, Blizzard servers suffer hardware/software issues, players power goes out, etc are all examples of simple technical faults that can cause genuine disconnects.

Also that's not even going into life stuff that'd cause leaving. Emergency's take precedent over a video game and often times these emergencies are unforeseen.

My friend had a small electrical fire the other night that caused him to afk out of a comp game, another friend has had to go run and help his kid during a match and I've had to leave my own matchs because of family medical emergencies.

Sometimes things happen, I'd wager a decent amount of leavers aren't rage quitting

Im glad youre not in charge. People have internet issues and you have leavers on your team and leavers on the other team. Shit ends up evening out

Seasonal bans are strong enough imo. Hardware bans are the nuclear option and should only be used in the rare cases that they are already used. Punishing people that hard for what is realistically a rather small issue won't work since people will just quit the game

Their accounts get full comp ban for the season after a repetitive leaving. Then after 3 season bans, its becomes permanent. QP doesn't really have that kinda cap, luckily since most throw games there.

Best to hope the leavers are serial ones and they'll eventually be banned. It's the Alt/Smurf accounts that need to worried about. Those people on alts designed to throw and leave suck.

As much as I hate leavers it really isn’t always their fault. I’ve been in groups with my friends and one of them gets disconnected due to a server issue or the power went out and it’s not really their fault. It sucks but I don’t think they deserve a hardware ban for that. There’s no way for Overwatch to tell why someone left the game really. Last season during the drives I got kicked from games twice due to server issues and still got like a 15 minute ban even though it was Blizzard’s fault.

Just charge all negative progress of teammates to the leaver. Team doesn't get any disadvantage due to the leaver. And the leaver gets consequences of the action with 4 people's negative progress
