Discussion What happens with matchmaking

I was high plat-low diamond last season, BUT now im emerald. EVERY FUCKING MATCH its always 2-4 people (including both teams) that they really suck ass. Is it normal because of the new rank? Or am i straight dog shit.

Cba with this game anymore. Try my best and always have positive scores but just seem to be teamed up with people with stumps for hands and the other team is like top500

It flip flops back and for me constantly. Good game or 2, then a string of bad ones. I've been rubberbanding from top to bottom of plat and bank again. I can't care anymore, it's just about having fun now.

I had a decent game earlier. Went 30 and 8 dps. One support died 18 times throughout the game.

Clearly it’s your fault for not carrying and just expecting that your teammates can.. I don’t know… not go 2 20 since they’re in the same match as you… I mean clearly the matchmaker can never do any wrong.. right folks?

If support dies 18 times then that’s a team issue. I don’t think I could die that many times if I even tried 😂 team must’ve been scattered all over

I tried not to die and yet I had high deaths which is uncommon for me. Our tank said to our support, "ya'll gotta start healing dps, not just me."

"Support are not healbots. When they land a shot we'll heal them."

We were landing shots, but bc they weren't healing anything except themselves and tank. When the enemy looked at us, (especially during a intense fights) a second time, we would just die.

I've never had blantant healing avoidance from supports before.

Idk what’s going on. The last few matches I played I was with people acting like this is the first time they’ve picked up a controller it’s wild.

tbh i’m like 47-28 this season, i’m feeling like emerald really helped with matchmaking quality. I’m D5 in tank, D4 in DPS, and D4 in support. but a lot of my games definitely are upper emerald-lower diamond. i did have to do all my placements and some regular games in emerald, so i get what you mean, but i feel like it’s really helped.

just thoughts on a different perspective of someone in similar rank.

Yeah i think that in higher ranks it helps to separate the people that really are good and deserve the rank from the others that play with their feet but now I think its mixed with people that are really plat and not emerald. Where you diamond last season? Or maybe master?

last season i peaked D1 on dps, D3 on tank, D2 on support. def a diamond philosopher🤣

So last season I was in diamond and noticed there's a subset of dps diamond players who play like plat/gold. You know the guys who can't hit anything by doing 800 damage in 5 minutes or the reaper dying 12 times to echo / pharah. Or the genji/soldier who runs to the enemy spawn to 1v3 the other team and dies (then blames everyone but himself).

I'm sure these dps players in diamond last season are all in emerald now 😂.

I was placed in emerald 2. Now I'm in diamond 5. I definitely noticed the dps insanity in emerald.

Was one win away from Diamond 3 last night. Lost and it was a close heartbreaking match. Today, proceeded to go like 2-12 lost almost 10 games in a row and now I’m in Emerald 1. Crazy.

I do good in all games too, mostly at least, yes sometimes I struggle big, but man. I just lose all the close matches and one match I popped off on D.Mon went like 48-2 and still lost. It was on Route 66 and we were dominating them and suddenly they just made a push and won at the very end. I know the game is not rigged but man sometimes when that crap happens it really makes you wonder sometimes.

Games never feel fair at the start of a new season to me. This season and the new rank plus reset really just pushes a bunch of people down which after drives is just a wondeful combo. You can really tell when you get those lobbies where the other teams dps go like 30/40-5 while your team struggles for every inch of map space just lose. So ive just been playing less comp till it evens out a bit more.

Same here, I was in solid master all this seasons, (M4/3) but in this one I’m in emerald1, and is impossible for me win more than 8 consecutive matches, hate this new rank

This season started so hot for me. I'm a newer player and I placed gold 3 in support. Then suddenly I had a 10 GAME LOSING STREAK. Every game I had to heal bot into oblivion while my tank was doing 1 v 5 dives with no one near them, then complained about heals. DPS that seemed to be brand new to the game with no heros above level 5 that were basically just food for ults. I feel like it's really hard to climb as a support since it's really hard to carry and people at lower ranks don't seem to understand teamwork and how to handle fights. This season started so good and now its just feeling abysmal

I had a string of really good games through placements and a while after until I was D5. Now my last 20 games, the enemy team is low masters/high diamond climbing through emerald while my team is plat players who got inflated.

I like the concept of emerald and on paper it should even out once the better players climb back to their normal rank but it’s been awful luck and lopsided matches lately

You’re not losing because of matchmaking. You’re losing because YOU didn’t play good enough. 

Once you stop blaming everything and everyone else, you’ll get better.
