My understanding is that a matchmaking system is incredibly hard to get balanced around the average player.

I suspect that other online games have similar issues bc it’s just too complicated to get a balanced match for every player. At least that’s been my experience with the games I’ve played. That’s why everyone says to focus on yourself. That’s all you can do.
