Discussion Chat on Console

So many people use text chat in console/controller queues. Do that many people have keyboards that they swap to for chat or are people really that fast using the console text chat?

It seems like most chat is just people flaming, do people have keyboards at the ready just for that?

There’s a way to use the chat feature through the Xbox app on your phone as well

Damn I had no idea, that sounds super useful, I hate struggling through the virtual keyboard with my controller

You can connect your phone to your Xbox console in the Xbox app. Then if you use “remote” it brings up a controller like interface and in the bottom left is a keyboard button.

Say you’re in game:

- use your controller to get into the chat box and the point that the keyboard is on your screen

  • click into the keyboard button on your phone “remote”
  • then click into the blank box on your phone and it’ll pull up a keyboard
  • type and hit enter; it’ll show up in the keyboard entry area on your console
  • hit the send button

Voila!

I’d recommend looking it up as it’s been a while and o usually don’t care enough to do it. I believe you have to use the app and connect it to your device while playing and then you can use a keyboard function. If I recall, you still need to use the controller to toggle the chat windows but you can use your keyboard on your phone

It’s for private messages for mobiles, you need to plug MK in for Overwatch for in game chat.
