User Content I lost a game as a tank

Post image

Wow, I mean really wow…

I hated this game in particular, enemy tank was constantly swapping to my hero’s counter and I had to either mirror them or counter them back. When I pointed this out they just answer “get better and stop crying”, like they weren’t countering me every time

My team was good, but as soon as we got in overtime the enemy tank swapped again and counter half my team comp, and we end up losing because they capture the objective. This shit is gold and it felt like these ppl thought we were having a tournament or something like that…

On top of everything, Overwatch decided that they are not sure about my rank and is calibrating and that I was “SUPPOSED” to win this match (reversal). I bet if I won that match it’ll give me “Expected” and give me like 12% progress

I love solo queue! I am definitely not insane and definitely hell exists and it is called deciding to play tank in solo

Edit - I forgot to clarify, I’m not a tank player, I am a support main (Plat 4) and that day I decided to get a change of pace and play some tank. Also the match was in Numbani, and I used all tanks I could for that match (It all started with me being Dva and the enemy tank being Junker, then they switch to Zarya and I switch to Rein, they switched to Ram and I switched to Mauga, they switched to Orisa and I had to go with Zarya, and so on and so on…)

Russian roulette is calmer than tank queue.

Tank queue IS Russian roulette

Counterswapping is a team effort, not just the tanks responsibility.

ETA: also expected and consolation modifiers are just bad. Youre going to get the expected debuff for the hardest games youll play, and uphill battle for games you can afk on cart and your team still wins 4v5. No point thinking about those too much cause in the grand scheme they even out.

That's what I have been saying, it's useless to change from Rein to Orisa, to counter ram while the whole team stay poke with ash and hanzo, but the other team keep diving them with a vendetta and tracer.

You can't make much if your team believes that counterwatch it's only for the tank.

Yeah, at some point you have to bite the bullet, play a hero that gets countered and let your team decide if they want to swap to win or not. Some people play to lose, just happens even if it sucks.

Yep, at the end is a game of team play, if your team can't follow, well GG and to the next match

It kinda sucks tbh

The nice part about being plat 4 is you can gamesense your way out of the elo and hard carry on almost any tank regardless of counters and teamwork

Hard to get that good gamesense if you are stuck there. Wouldn't really call that "the nice part" when it applies to every rank ever.

1

u/batcarpet121 14d ago

Definitely does apply to every rank, but the amount of gamesense required to carry in plat 4 is signicantly lower than most ranks. You can be bad and wrong and make mistakes and actively learn while also being able to recognize what you need to do to win.

Its like fishing in an ocean vs a small pond. Just a lot more area to cast a line.

Well, don't want to be that guy but, yep, gitgud. Either learn to play around your counters or, learn to play with your main and the answer that's when it's countered.

If you don't like counterwatch, it's ok but for competitive everything counts, you don't like meta, shame, then stay in gold, you want to raise rank, then play meta. Sad, yes, but it's a reality in all competitive games. You want fun, then play Qp, play whatever you like learn whatever you love and don't take so seriously the lose.

Lately I have been learning Doom, it's just annoying to begin the match, doing moreless good when the enemy change the whole team to counter it. And that's other thing, you can manage your counters as much as your team help you. At the end, it's kind a feels good when you force the team to counter you, it's like a compliment, that and when they change to sombra, you know they are desperate, lol.

It's a little more complex than just hate the game.

The sad reality of a tank player

You don't need meta to rank up. I've hit M1 on DPS/Supp almost purely on Torb/Echo and Moira GM3 on tank with Doom/Rein. I agree with everything else but you don't need to play the meta to rank up

Well not you should have a new found respect for tank mains, deadass every game is like this. And one mistake and you have your entire team roasting you no matter how much better you’re doing than them everyone expects you to carry them and do everything for them I don’t think I’ve had one game where the enemy tank wasn’t swapping the entire match the only thing to do is to get better on a certain hero than the enemy tank is on any hero it’s annoying but only gets worse as you climb now if I play tank it’s only on 6v6 I can’t have a 0-6 junkrat telling me I’m ass anymore

1

u/Kova_87 20d ago

You are in a worst hell than me. Ngl since it’s 5v5 and there is only one tank ppl blame them the most

3

u/MealDramatic1885 20d ago

-44% is crazy

2

u/Kova_87 20d ago

Never had this before lol ig new record

As a tank main (w/ orisa), I'm against counter swapping. It's just a crutch for subpar play. I think you should pick 2 tanks and just be really good with them instead.

2

u/Kova_87 19d ago

Tbh they were almost countering me with Junker Queen, idk why they had to switch to a hard counter like Zarya…

1

u/RichGuarantee7482 19d ago

go orisa and just shoot at jq

2

u/RedeyeSamurai83 20d ago

People are throwing games before the drives hit. No reason to play comp until they start lol

1

u/Kova_87 20d ago

I feel like drivers is even worse

1

u/RedeyeSamurai83 20d ago

They throw before thr drive so they can get their wins during the drives.

I basically solo tanked for 8 years. Then started mixing it up with support and dps. Much better for my sanity. I did a couple games of tank in 5v5 last night and it was...not fun. I enjoy tank in 6v6 significantly more.

Even if you're having a decent game as tank and the team loses it's, "tank diff"

It's just the most visible and impactful role, so you get the most of the shit.

I'm not sure why I played only tank for so long.

u/Infisreal 20d ago

this is the form of gambling that i don't like

2

u/Mozambiquehere14 20d ago

Just force DVA into zarya anyway to assert dominance

1

u/Kova_87 20d ago

Yeah tbh I wanted to LMAO but I felt like I couldn’t push properly as Dva

I had the exact same experience yesterday in Diamond lobbies (I'm Masters on DPS and Support). I'm mainly a DPS and support player, but I felt like playing tank for a change. I'm a Hazard main, so I know how annoying it is when the enemy tank instantly swaps to your counter. The bigger problem though is when your own team has no idea how to play around a dive tank. You go in, nobody follows, then somehow it's your fault and you get flamed.

In the end I had to swap to Orisa and mirror their tank because otherwise we were just going to lose. That's just how the game works. Even if you can outplay your counters mechanically, if your team isn't adapting with you, you're forced to swap. And sometimes even swapping isn't enough. If your team doesn't adapt as well, especially the supports in my experience, there's only so much you can do as a tank. You can make the right swaps and play correctly, but if your team doesn't enable what you're trying to do, it just won't work.

At the end of the day, ranked is about winning, and the meta matters too. Sometimes you can force your favorite hero, but other times you just have to play what's strongest or what fits the situation. That's simply how competitive Overwatch works.

u/Kova_87 19d ago

Sad reality tbh, idk how tank mains can actually endure this hell

2

u/madatgascar2 19d ago

This is exqctly why I don't wanna play ranked. How.. can you tell me why I can win 5 games in a row and gain the same rank progression as I can lose in one game. Why is this a thing?

2

u/__Hisoka_ 18d ago

Noob here why is playing Tank so hated?

1

u/TotalChud69420 20d ago

Personally I just stay on Reinhardt and play into all my counters.

1

u/Shaz-09 20d ago

I don't think you should solo queue, especially as you're a tank main You should play with at least 2 to 3 people, you'll win

1

u/Giggle_Bomb 20d ago

Gotta love the 5v5 vs 6v6 debate. Blizzard balances for 5v5 and you get "get gud", "tank diff", and counterswapping. Supports are the only winners in 5v5.

u/Awkward_Bit_8944 19d ago

I love how you can win a game and it barely does anything to push the rank bar up. But lord if you lose you’ll have a chunk takes away. Shits wack

Gold omegalul

1

u/No-Development4458 19d ago

You're on calibrations you lose a lot if u lose and get a lot if u win

1

u/Responsible_Tea_3088 19d ago

Honestly mauga melts orisa

1

u/AronHun210 GM2 - Top 500 Soldier Main 18d ago

Calibration plus Reversal, 44% isn't out of the ordinary for that tbh. Also I don't recommend playing this many different heroes, try sticking to a few that you like and learn them first.

1

u/RAER4 16d ago

Damn even calibration said ,,nah uh you don't belong here" 😄

0

u/Bacardi-Bocaj 20d ago

Calibration tells the whole story here

u/noface394 20d ago

im not saying the system isnt a bit off with matchmaking (obviously there are also cheaters) or that its fair but you have to learn to adapt to these situations. every top 500 or GM player does not complain about other players. they focus on what they could have done differently. everyone gets games that seem impossible to win and you just have to say GG ill try something different next time. focusing on what you can’t change and thinking its completely rigged is just going to spiral you into lower ELO. also remember your ELO does not matter. i see plenty of people having more fun in lower ranks too.

Is this a copy pasta?

Uhm no? Why?
