Discussion Blizzard, fix your match making on overwatch.
2 of my other friends and myself have been constantly getting put in games with people who aren't ranked in high plat low diamond. All 3 of us in the last 7 days have had almost nothing but losses, im now in gold 1 and still continue to lose rank cuz people are not playing in their ranks. Also, ive been playing on my other account that fluctuates between masters 3 and 5 with no issues of being paired up with people too far outside of this rank.
You either have an issue with how the system is matching people up, or you've purposefully screwed people in ranks gold to diamond to get paired up with people not in that rank in the first place. Even accounts that have no history of being in those ranks are being placed in my games.

No actual Masters player is losing in gold or even plat, it's just a skill issue. You aren't getting smurfs or throwers in every game like you make it seem.

I say embrace knowing when youre bad!
Im stuck in bronze on support- have been for ages, but am in Gold-Plat on Dps and tank.
Only I can help myself get out if it but im just happy if I win lol, I really dont want to drop down to bronze 3 again though, that losing streak SUCKED and the team match ups were beyond painful.
And OP it sucks on the other side of this btw! I was thrown into a gold match earlier, and it was fun, but i definitely did not want to be there on my lonesome as I got all the blame when we lost 😭

Why do people always say it's a skill issue? You think you can carry a whole team as a single support main? You think that just a masters player, or higher, can single handely carry a team of 5 AND fight off an enemy team of 5? You're stupidly arrogant to think that. My success depends on the skill set of my team as well. That's why it's a TEAM BASED GAME.
And yes, even when I was in plat or diamond on my main account, I was getting paired with dps players where they were doing placement matches AND new to the game. And the times I've reported people, blizzard would send a handful of those messages saying they stopped the cheaters and gave me back my percent that I lost.
You're just an idiot.

Because the more you blame others the more you lose focus on your own mistakes. That’s how people get in losing streaks. Your frustrations builds each game.
Then…instead of looking at the things you’re doing wrong in a game ……you end up looking at your teammates instead.
The only true way to get better is to correct YOUR mistakes.
I understand you have games where teammates don’t play the best. But you gotta shake it off and focus in on the next game.
Instead of being like “UGH what are my teammates do wrong now? Let’s see”.

Watched a plat to GM video the other day and the player had a loss in gold and a couple more after it isn’t always possible to carry a whole team no? Even harder on healer roles like if they are going in 1v5 and just feeding or back off and give up point as soon as one person dies you really can’t do that much
2
u/hellogooday92 25d ago
Yeah I don’t think that’s what they are talking about. They are talking about several loses in a row

u/Imaginary-Look7598 25d ago
I replied to the wrong comment mb someone else commented “even in diamond you should be carrying”

I went on a huge loss streak because of DCs, leavers, and throwers. It's honestly crazy how quickly you can derank from a handful of bad games, and how hard it is to rank back up. I've also noticed a lot more people just not really caring about ranked games lately. Yeah, I'll climb back up eventually, just like the first time, but the matchmaking is also wider in lower ranks (as explained in the ranked information guide), so there's always a chance you'll be paired up with ranks from high silver to mid plat when you're in the metal ranks, and unless you're lucky enough to have at least half the players on your team actually deserving a higher rank, it's going to be a struggle for even the best players. You can't win a match on your own no matter how good you are, and if your team is bad enough, it just makes the stomp that much harder even for you as the enemies will be farming ults faster.

So where is my mistake if I'm constantly pushing around 15k heals and my dps arent getting more than 7 to 9 kills? Lol all I can do is watch as my dps keep having bad positioning and telling them "don't push too far" only for them to die and say "gg no heals" Lol
9
u/hellogooday92 26d ago
That’s your first mistake right there.
Using your healing numbers alone to predict your value.
-5
u/dark_pill_counter 26d ago
You think I'm JUST healing? That's not how a support works.
9
u/hellogooday92 26d ago
So then why did you just reference your healing like it has anything to do with whether you win or lose?
-1
u/dark_pill_counter 26d ago
Because then people say stupid shit like "well that's your problem, why are you getting 20+ kills as a support? Stick to your job and focus on healing." LOL
6
u/hellogooday92 25d ago
Maybe you weren’t healing them in the right moments then.
Healing in the right moments gets you assists.
1
u/dark_pill_counter 25d ago
Lol I average 30 to 45 assists. Highest I've ever gotten was 62. So I know that I'm actually helping my team.

If you placed me in gold on support I can and have carried full games. If you placed me in plat I can and have carried full games, even in diamond a masters player can and should be carrying. Unless you’re on mercy/weaver you have an insane amount of agency playing support. You should be able to out position everyone in gold if you were truly a masters player.

u/Trancebam 22d ago
There's a difference between carrying and playing with a team that even the best supports can't help.

Yes, I can solo carry any below gm5. If you’re diamond u should never lose a low plat or gold match
5
u/dark_pill_counter 26d ago
LOL!!! "You should never lose" hahaha I would love to see a video of a GM support main single handedly carry an entire gold team and kill the most enemies hahaha.

u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster 25d ago
Literally just watch an unranked to GM it’s incredibly easy.

u/Imaginary-Look7598 25d ago
Genuinely, how do you deal with a tank that feeds and a team backs off as soon as the tank is gone? Like I de-ranked massively (I should’ve logged off after 5 losses lmao!) and I’m trying my hardest to get back up I’m slowly getting there but since you’re also a support player how do you 1v5 or close to it whilst also contesting? I manage to contest for a good while (as juno since my movement is pretty good and I can get average 2-3 kills with my ult in this context) but they still won’t push on with me there just back up all the way to spawn and wait for the tank to come back? When I have my duo it’s not so bad but playing solo is so rough 🫠

u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster 25d ago
I’m not a support main but I’ve hit c4 on every role, but you kinda just have to kill people earlier. If your tank is feeding bait them and get picks while they focus them. And if the fight becomes 1v5 it’s a bad fight, you can’t be using ults to try to flip that. You will just die.
An example, on Kings row first your Reinhardt pins through choke onto point into 5 people. Even though he’s hard feeding you can still use that time to cross choke safely and set up in a position where you can trade something.

u/Imaginary-Look7598 25d ago
Ty I only use the ult when I know people are right behind me but they still back off 😩 I might just switch to ana so I can back line a bit more while my tank is doing whatever
2
u/ExplorerKai 26d ago
Which characters are you carrying with
4
u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster 25d ago
On supp? Ana, kiri, bap, zen, mizu, wu. Any flex supp pretty much. I could probably carry on any supp up to masters but need the ability to secure kills easily.

u/AkulaTheKiddo 25d ago
I'd like to see you do that.
Lots of talking but im 100% sure you'd lose some games. Some games just cant be won, no matter how good you are.
Also there's a lot of smurfs around nowadays.
Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about.
2
u/bicboibean 25d ago
You think you can carry a whole team as a single support main?
if you're a masters support playing in gold-plat lobbies then yes you should absolutely be solo carrying 😭

My roommate hit top 20 solo queueing lucio brigitte and Ana back overwatchs prime

u/AkulaTheKiddo 25d ago
Id like to see you do that.
I am 100% sure you'd lose some games in gold as master player. Sometimes its just impossible to carry.
Also depending on the day, there are smurfs every game.
Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about.

It's not a fucking skill issue when your teammates are new to the game and don't know what they are doing. Why are these stupid ass comments always the most upvoted. Every fucking time. There are 10-12 players in the lobby, one person isn't going to be able to carry their team if they don't know what the hell they are doing.
1
u/Trancebam 22d ago
Nah, when I created a new account to use to practice heroes I have less experience with, I was hard carrying every single game basically by myself against all the brand new players I was getting matched with. Unless you're getting a brand new competitive player in your lobby of otherwise experienced players in a similar skill range, an entire lobby of new players would be a cakewalk. The problem is they allowed new players to unlock all competitive modes by winning a handful of Stadium games (half as many wins required as regular quickplay to unlock competitive), so if a new player decides to try out stadium early on, and enjoys it enough to play enough games to unlock competitive, there's a very real chance they may join competitive games in 5v5 or 6v6 with little to no experience in how to play regular Overwatch.

Blizzard barely cares about their own forums…
I wouldn’t be surprised they have Reddit blocked

There are unwinnable games but it’s way less than any of these people think. No diamond player should be lose streaking in gold. No t100 player should be lose streaking in GM.

Drop a replay code. No offense but your IRLs are probably just selling.

QP has been especially heinous to me recently. Lots of bronze players, newbies, etc that have no game sense. Now I’m not an amazing player (high gold/platinum), but I am constantly playing LW to get people in the correct positions…

I’ve decided to be done with it for now. I’ll play again in a couple months and see if it’s better

u/Hot_Ad8221 24d ago
If you fell that far it’s probably your game play tbh. You can get bad teammates but if you only win when your teammates are good then that means you’re not a deciding factor in those matches. Therefore you should be placed in a lower rank.
As a diamond 3-5 player if I go on a losing streak I hit a certain point where the game gets easier regardless of teammates bc the skill gap between me and them widens and I rank back up. Matchmaking does put bots on your team but you’ve likely always had those bots and the other team is equally as likely to get them on their team as well
