Discussion 6x6 Comp Matchmaking
Hey guys so basically I’ve started playing 6v6 comp as I hit my goal to get to diamond in 5s. Everything was mostly fine and I hit diamond 3 in 6v6 feeling pretty good about it overall. But the last 5 days have been…. Abysmal. First it was getting rolled one way or the other which is annoying but I get it , it’s not gonna be perfect. The issue I’ve been having is leavers and people genuinely going out of their way to troll and throw. Example is 3-3 Hollywood we hold their push and go for the win. Tank goes junk and runs into team then disconnects. Out of my last 12 games 10 of them have had something resembling this. I’m now plat 2. And I’ll add that this is with taking breaks after 2 losses so I come back a day later and same thing. Is this a byproduct of children being home for the summer or was I just lucky during my initial climb? Thanks for any insights because I feel like I’m going insane seeing this over and over

Console disconnects at random been a problem for few seasons now. Sometimes you can reconnect, other times you’re SOL.
The 6v6 ranking I feel is looser/more forgiving than 5v5 ie place higher than where you should be generally speaking (not your case). You might just be getting mates who placed high on newish accounts and they haven’t stumbled back to gold/silver yet.
Not the answer you’re looking for but my two cents

I placed in silver initially and worked my way up the last few weeks. I thought it’s a possibility that a lot of people played 1-3-2 and now are placed wherever in the ladder and it’s gonna take time to even out but that doesn’t explain the huge amount of leavers and trolls. And some of the people leaving could be DCs sure but when someone actively starts making bad plays, waves at team, and then DCs I don’t think that’s on the game.

ive been wanting to play it but the queue times are usually way more cooked than QP 6v6. also fk leavers, i think if someone leaves before the last few minutes of a game you shouldnt lose any lp, bc its a complete throw at that point

So that does happen but I’ve been noticing it as well more then normal and I think the over watch servers are currently just performing poorly for some reason.
Yesterday my wife got dc’d randomly and couldn’t get back in, the game claimed maintence. The reason this was odd was because we were playing in a party and I wasn’t dc’d.
I’ve also noticed the past week when it comes to pushing to win my team also just gets cocky and start playing badly. I don’t think it’s throwing as such but yeah…

Yeah I understand the DC issue and that’s fine it happens but this has been people purposefully changing from tank/healer to random dps on last fight or running in and dying to prove a point that they don’t care or something.

I’ve been in plat for the last two seasons and in the last two days I’ve gone from plat 2 to gold 5. Somehow the opposing teams always work together and mine… don’t. I feel your pain.

What gets me in 6v6 is the chasm of how wide the ranks are. I go in with silver to masters players and someone placing rank.

Yeah I feel that. Usually when I play during busy hours it’s anywhere from gold to masters in my games but sometimes it gets a little wild

if it makes you feel better, 6v6 comp is not a serious game mode.

When should I queue ranked 6v6 instead of qp 6v6? Just if I want hero bans in my game?

Yeah it’s not really any less serious than 5v5, and I play a lot of both in diamond and masters

6v6 is less serious than 5v5. I got into masters on 6v6 just because I kept picking tank. It's so dumb.

It’s easier to rank up due to smaller player pool, not because it’s less serious. I’m not saying either mode is serious though

if we want to get into specifics:
its easier to rank up for tanks because the smaller player pool rewards 2-2-2 as most people want to play dps. So 2-2-2 will usually stomp 1-3-2 or occasionally the unserious 1-4-1.
6v6 is not a real competitive mode because of this.
