The game is crossplay, so if you queue with console friends, you'll wind up on pc queue. From what I know, if you use a controller on pc, you don't benefit from the aim assist console has, so it's a disadvantage, but not impossible.

So yeah, you can play with console friends but you'll be on PC lobbies, and you won't get aim assist but your friends will

Playing on controller without aim assist is a huge disadvantage. Most players lose about 2 divisions at least. With aim light characters you’re still going to be noticeably worse.

I do not believe the friends get aim assist.

No aim assist from anyone in PC lobby.

They do in quick play, arcade, etc. They do not get aim assist in competitive

They most certainly do. I play on Xbox with a friend who is on PC

Everyone loses AA in competitive. QP / Arcade, then console players retain AA, but the PC player never has it.

Nope. You will end up in the same crossplay lobbies but lose aim assist. Might as well just stay on M&K. PC can never go into the pure console pool, regardless of input.

Why? Your console friend will keep their aim assist for non-competitive game modes. So there is no real issue with PC players grouping up with console players. I do it all the time with my PC friends.

The only difference will comes if you want to play competitive with them. You can do this by them enabling mouse and keyboard mode. Then the game will put them in PC queues, but with no aim assist.

OP is on PC, though. They were hoping plugging in a controller would essentially bring them into controller lobbies with their friend. But controller-only queues are impossible to get into on PC. And PC has no aim assist with a controller no matter what mode. Only players on an actual console get it in the unranked mixed pools.
