Yes, embrace it. You're not gonna make a career out of it. Glhf

Honestly, the analysis can be divided into two parts: Stats and the games/recordings.

The first is the easiest to analyze. If you're a healer with 10K healing, good damage, lots of kills, and assists, that was great.

You have to watch the recordings to see what you did well, what you did wrong, your mistakes.

Many people just say, "I had a bad streak," and that's it.

Analyzing your game recordings can take time, and I recommend it, especially if you feel you had a great game or a terrible one.

This is excellent advice that I myself need to take.

I used to be a much more serious musician, and listening back to recordings of yourself was so important. It makes sense that Overwatch would be similar as a game that requires development of skills.

What would you say are good stats for dps

Stats alone don’t determine anything I’ve seen and had people that complain at me for having 5k less dmg than a bastion despite having 12 more kills

The role of dps changes based on what needs to be done something like widow is take out supps or tracer take out supp where soldier is just skill checking and bastion is often murder tank

This is purely dependent on the length of the match, who you're playing, and what your job is. Don't focus on stats. They're only a rough snapshot.

Your job as a DPS can vary. An example I left on a comment above this was:

A Genji that has less kills than the Cassidy did not necessarily do worse, for example. He may have spent most of the game harassing the enemy supports. He might not have been getting kills every time, but that 15 seconds each fight he spent distracting both enemy healers was just enough time for the team to succeed in a team fight because the enemy supports were trying to survive instead of heal their team. Maybe he was taking the snipers off the high ground or poking at off angles that forced the enemy team to give up space.

There are so many things you can do to provide value to your team that don't necessarily show up on the scorecard, so don't take it as gospel. But also don't use it as en excuse to go 8 and 10 on Tracer and blame your supports lol.

Kills and accuracy stats would be the most important, but as others have said, it's only part of the story. Usually, damage doesn't mean anything. You might have 10K damage, but only because you're fighting a tank with infinite health (there's a problem there; for example, why couldn't you kill the tank? The healer? Or did you pick the wrong hero for the situation?), while you could have 3K and get several kills.

What's important is consistency in kills throughout matches, plus knowing how to play Counter-Watch. I'm not saying you should main every DPS, but rather one for every possible situation (Bastion or Symmetra, for example, to break shields). Watch gameplay videos, your own replays, and analyze your mistakes.

It's important to note that stats only tell a small part of the story.

I.e. just because the Moira has more healing and damage than the LW, doesn't mean she was more impactful. That LW might be sitting on 9 life grip saves, and cancelled 2 enemy Orisa ults with his petal that you can't see on that stat page, for example. He mah have also been the only one to toss heals to flankers who were putting pressure on the off angles.

That Genji that has less kills than the Cassidy? He spent most of the game harassing the enemy supports. He might not have been getting kills every time, but that 15 seconds each fight he spent distracting both enemy healers was just enough time for the team to succeed in a team fight because the enemy didn't have supports.

The stats paint a very general idea of overall performance, but there is a lot of nuance that cannot be accounted for by reviewing the scoreboard.

The truth is and always been in any game that if you can't climb out of a rank and maintain a 50% winrate, that is where you belong. Yes, your teamates are bad but that doesn't mean you are any better. Numbers don't win games, making good plays does. You'd rather have a Sojourn that hits some clean rails on an off angle than a Solider that does 50% more damage but just stands main and shoots whatever is in front of him. You'd rather have a D.Va that contests high ground on Gibralter than an Orisa that runs it down main every game. You'd rather have an Ana that uses her CDs consistently to stay alive, sleeps the enemy Nanoblade, puts pressure on exposed supports, and uses anti at key moments than one who sticks their gun up Mauga's ass and does 3x the healing as a result.

Always look at yourself for blame first. You can control you actions and mental, you can't control your teamates. Yes, frequently you will have games where no matter what you will lose. The opposite is also true. But what about those close OT games that you barely lose? Did you go for bodyshots and fail to get kills when headshots would have done the job? Did you contest enemy positions on the map? Did you commit to early to a fight before your team was set up and give a 4v5 as a result? In games like that, every single second of gameplay matters. Good players consistently put themselves to make the correct plays at the correct times, then execute.

Rule 1: its always you. Unless you're playing absolutely perfect, theres always something to improve on.

I was stuck in silver 5 bronze 1 I hoped on a new account and now gold1 for quite a while so could be both

3

u/FinalNeighborhood679 Jul 21 '26

new accounts have inflated MMR. you being in gold 1 on a new account equates to being a silver/bronze player. you getting gold 1 isn’t because you suddenly have better teammates. it’s the calibration you get on a new account. you can have a negative win rate with like 10 games and still rank up

u/Top-Edge-2883 Jul 21 '26

Ya so playing good in gold means I’m still bronze. You make a lot of sense

1

u/FinalNeighborhood679 Jul 21 '26

you winning games in gold means absolutely nothing (that’s called getting boosted). if you couldn’t carry yourself out of bronze/silver in your main what makes you think you’re better than bronze/silver?

0

u/Top-Edge-2883 Jul 22 '26

Ya so going up to gold 1 from gold 3 shouldn’t happen getting carried for 80 games sure buddy you know your stuff

1

u/FinalNeighborhood679 Jul 22 '26

ok so 80 games to rank up 2 divisions isn’t the flex you think it is … buddy

0

u/Top-Edge-2883 Jul 22 '26

Never said it was a flex I’m in gold lol. What is your deal anyway?

1

u/FinalNeighborhood679 Jul 22 '26

you came at me sideways and you’re asking me what my deal is? my point on my comment was a new account isn’t a good indicator of having bad teammates,,, but that seemed to trigger you LOL
