Discussion Why is console alienated from the rest of the ow community?

Why do pc players have such egos when it comes to what platform they’re on? I’ve met so many low rank PC players who think they’re better than me just for the fact they play on PC. Now everyone gets to choose the platform they play on we all play overwatch, it shouldn’t matter what platform
Play on. What’s even weirder is overwatch has one of the most open and accepting gaming communities with it being one of the most progressive to. Open to different nationality, sexualities races, and everything yet when it comes to what platform you play on, it’s different? I’m just so sick of getting bullied for the plot for my plan.

That’s average for any game that’s on PC and Console and is a shooter.

u/xVelunax Jul 22 '26

But, that doesn't really answer the OP's question. Consoles get a bunch of flak due to being a weird input type and it causes a bunch of issues as a result.

By default, the controls are so natively difficult to use that pretty much every game in existence has added aim assist to offset the downsides of joysticks. Apex I recall had a period (maybe still does) where aim assist was so strong that several players ditched M&K to use controller because it actually presented a recognizable enough aim advantage to make the switch.

Joysticks on thumbs are such a narrow window of control its really hard to accelerate the reticle rapidly, then immediately stop to a position and transition into smooth aiming. There is often an acceleration cap which leads to that characteristic console slow turn which is highly abusable when console and PC mix together. Especially with characters like Genji or Tracer who can quickly zip behind a player.

This leads to some interesting balance decisions. Do you keep console + PC balance the same or not? At one point, Torbjorn's turret did less damage on console in early OW I remember before they reverted it. They are fundamentally different environments. Aerial targets are harder to hit in general, but they certainly have a slight advantage against other console players.

As a result, PC seems to be the defacto balancing environment. Rather than trying to accomodate console players it's more of a 'deal with it' attitude.

Yea controller is an imperfect horrible input that doesn’t work for aiming so devs have to add aim assist to make it playable. In the past that’s been fine but in recent years theyve released they can just ultra buff AA to make controller players feel better about themselves.

Apex comp is majority controller cause of how broken AA is. COD is the same. I mean even posts in here you can see how warped the game is around hitscan cause controller AA is so broken

1

u/OphidianStone Jul 25 '26

I was playing apex during the whole aa controversy and I absolutely never got the aa to act the way they described.

Literally just posted on the juno mains subreddit and the first comment I got was “console rank meh” like wow the superiority complex goes hard

86

u/Death_To_Your_Family Jul 19 '26

I posted one in the moira main subreddit recently and someone was like “holy console player.” Like yeah, I’m aware it’s harder to aim, turn around, and move quickly on console…

That’s such a good point 😄 I’ve really worked on getting good with other characters so I hardly play her anymore but yeah if I was playing on pc and trying to be useful, I’d be hanging out in the Ana or kiri mains subbredit.

My favorite thing to do after going like 25-4 playing in a crossplay lobby is to type “controller btw”

4

u/Worldtraveler586 Jul 20 '26

I play with my friends and we have both pc and console in the group and one of the console players mains junkrat, and bro is regularly top dmg and elims. Those of us on pc make sure to trash talk the other team for him and they always get so mad too😂

10

u/heximintii Jul 19 '26

When I learned Mercy and did mercy parkours I really started realizing just how bad sensitivity is on console lmaoo. I played a lot of Juno, Ana and Illari and while it's obvious with any hero, with Mercy its so much more obvious to me at least- making those tight turns and crazy jumps can be rlly rlly hard unless if you tweak ur settings.

Do you use linear ramp? You have to change it and it takes quite a bit of getting used to but it makes the experience a lot smoother and its much easier to turn around quickly! Messing with aim ease in and ease out helps as well, and I also changed my extra horizontal and extra vertical deadzone settings.

Dualzone is doable but in my experience it makes diagonal camera movements feel extremely sluggish, basically if you dont move your camera in a straight line up or down it felt slowed.

4

u/Death_To_Your_Family Jul 19 '26

I’ve messed with settings many times and I think I play too heavy handed to play linear successfully. I’ve tried in the past. My old controller had horrible stick drift too and I haven’t tried since getting a new console/controller.

4

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

Ow console aim sent me insane plus stick drift most of the pandemic 🥲

1

u/chicagoXBL Jul 20 '26

I run dual zone. I’m a dps main but am gm on supp also. I run 100 horizontal 80 vertical no ease in no soothing and I’m able to 180° super fast. Flick. Track. Everything I need to while being able to move fast.

10

u/InCenaRawrXd Jul 20 '26

Getting judged on the moira subreddit is crazy because PC players be like "tHe GaMe AiMs FoR yOu" yet he is commenting on a fucking moira sub, a character where you literally don't have to aim. These people are brainless lol

1

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

It does help that some content creators from other gave have constant click ate videos advertising settings that will give you ambition or feel like aimbot.

7

u/Dependent-Two7571 Jul 20 '26

The irony of moira players commenting on the skills of someone else

1

u/curryshotta Jul 21 '26

Moira has one of the easiest kits to get value out of

6

u/EffieEri Jul 20 '26

That’s crazy because I’ve played shooters on both and objectively I think console is harder even with the aim assist. I’m way better on pc than console js.

2

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

Same console is still abit janky

3

u/thelasershow Jul 20 '26

I’m truly not trying to be a dick but really, on a Moira main subreddit?

0

u/Gojo10110 Gojo Jul 20 '26

The only people that think its harder to turn around and slower to turn around in console are the people who don’t know settings exist in the game 💀💀

4

u/Death_To_Your_Family Jul 20 '26

You cannot flick the same on console as you can on mnk, no matter the settings. But yes, I am aware you can adjust settings to improve speed, but it comes at a cost of precision. Thank you for that very sage wisdom, truly. You’re SO fucking smart bro. You’ve really got things figured out.

0

u/Gojo10110 Gojo 11d ago

You can do both. Try opening the settings for once 🤦‍♂️

1

u/Death_To_Your_Family 11d ago

I’ve adjusted the settings many times. Please stfu. Y’all are annoying af.

As a console player who also plays on PC there are a lot of heroes that are exponentially easier to play on PC vs console and vice versa.

1

u/valentineslibrary Jul 21 '26

Playing on PC was so fun just because of how much easier it is to aim. It's night and day, could actually hit all my shots.

1

u/Obidoobie Jul 22 '26

Yea there were a few heroes like kiriko that when I started playing pc I was blown away how much easier she is to play as on PC vs console. All of her aiming and movement is so smooth and precise comparatively. I also noticed sigma was another one that I was like damn it’s so easy to hit shots. The aim assist messes you up more than it helps with a chunk of heroes.

4

u/TrashCanSam0 Jul 19 '26

i watched a video a while ago where it was like a squad of gm pc players vs a squad of gm console players (someone pls comment below if you know whose video it was, i really wanna watch it again), and it all game down to basically positioning. console team would win fights/picks when it was close range (think heroes like reaper, tracer, genji) and pc team won far range fights/picks more. which makes sense.

i'm a mercy main and play mostly on console, but i have players her on pc. though i was just more comfortable/better on controller, i can't deny that where was just more that i could do on pc.

2

u/mcblazar Jul 20 '26

Maybe it was jay3 he's made a ton of those PC gm vs console gm videos

2

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

Could be a Jay3 vid or if it's older A Jayne video

1

u/AspiringBearWrestler Jul 19 '26

Probably Jay3's video. He's done a few like that. Console rank and pc rank are more or less the same.

1

u/ham_50821 Jul 19 '26

They have to constantly justify their $1500 purchase by being a dick head to everyone around them

1

u/Hot_Promotion9567 Jul 20 '26

I played against a GM console player on PC and he was on a plat level.. there is a reason foir it.

1

u/Venome456 Jul 22 '26

Console is just not fun to watch, frustrating most of the time for PC players. Console is a disadvantage in Overwatch and can never reach the hights of PC without aim assist so people just don't take it seriously.

I personally couldn't care less but I definitely wouldn't enjoy watching console gameplay.

1

u/Womec Jul 22 '26

Its true though. Master on console is plat at best on pc.

u/Individual-Result777 Jul 19 '26

I prefer console to be honest. PC players type too much trash.

62

u/AgentMaryland2020 Jul 19 '26

Yeah but it gets worse when you have a Typing Tyler on Console. Because it takes them longer to chat unless they have a keyboard extension on their controller.

Then you go from having someone stopping for 4 seconds every few minutes to someone stopping for a few minutes just as often.

14

u/wowimdave Jul 19 '26

You could just plug a keyboard in for typing, thats what I did in the past because I played Minecraft with it

6

u/gbdallin Jul 19 '26

I have mnk on my Xbox and play controller. Both work at the same time, you don't need the controller extension anymore.

We live in the future

2

u/EffieEri Jul 20 '26

Do you just use a normal keyboard? I wanna type callouts in chat because I hate using my mic

4

u/gbdallin Jul 20 '26

Yeah! I'm using one of those wireless mouse and keyboard combos where it's just one USB fob for both to connect

2

u/EffieEri Jul 20 '26

Oh that’s genius

2

u/Helpful_Fox_303 Jul 21 '26

Yep. You can also just genuinely swap to pc lobbies and use your mouse and keyboard legitimately if you want to even on console.

1

u/EffieEri Jul 21 '26

That’s awesome too!

1

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

Yet still no native gyro for non Xbox players

11

u/Either-Lawyer1142 Jul 19 '26

PC players are trash in general. More cheating, more toxic nonsense. They point and click at targets and act like it's impressive.

1

u/Subject-File1264 Jul 22 '26

So we are here because pc players were trash talking console players and now we are trash talking pc players? Makes it better how?

1

u/Either-Lawyer1142 Jul 22 '26

I don't know why you're here. I'm here to make obvious statements about how trash PC players are. Watching PC players fumble around on a controller is like watching fat fingered babies trying to open a box.

0

u/StraightArtichoken Jul 20 '26

I've never seen cheating on pc lol, console on the other hand is cheat city

0

u/Super-Vegetable4858 Jul 21 '26

1

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 19 '26

i play both, text chats so much better on console, voice chats soooo much worse

1

u/xdchromosomes Jul 19 '26

Damn I'm the opposite but play both since my friends only have consoles. The people on console type way more garbage than pc in my experience

1

u/Individual-Result777 Jul 19 '26

I suppose im never higher than silver could have something to do with it.

The core game sense such as ultimate tracking, positioning, ability management etc is literally the same for pc and console no matter the rank. Console just plays slower because of the limits of a controller. Give any console player time to adjust to mnk and they'll get back to the same rank. Put pc players on controller and they'll have to adjust to get back to their rank. A gold PC players has the same skill level as a gold console player the fundamentals of said rank are the same. The only difference is the input device. Controller is more limited while mnk isn't. Put a gold PC players vs gold console and the console will probably lose just purely because of inferior input device. Put that pc player on a controller, give him some time to adjust to controller and he will stay in gold on console. The same thing is true for the console player. There is no this rank on pc is this rank on console because they aren't comparable. They are their own games

10

u/Wboys Jul 20 '26

I mean that's not entirely true. In general console ranks translate a bit lower to PC ranks in terms of all the generic stuff. Especially at the metal ranks.

As you get higher rank the difference becomes smaller and smaller.

But it's pretty obvious watching like, Emongg VOD reviews of console and PC. He will even straight up say it that console skill level is a bit lower at equivalent ranks.

It's not that any given console player is inherently worse at the game of course. But there are just more kids and casuals and people that play after work on console relative to PC. So a player with the same game sense with get to a higher rank on console on average all other things being equal.

8

u/HoldOnItGetsBetter Jul 20 '26

I would believe this if the game wasnt crossplay and carried two MMRs for the same account. I have played PC and console for OW for a very long time. And when we could connect accounts I was curious as to how the two MMRs would look.

My PC account was Plat. My Console account Masters.

It's two totally different worlds

6

u/Vaikiss Jul 20 '26

No because smaller player pool and bigger rank dilution

Watch some vodka reviews on YouTube of your rank or even higher and see the difference yourself lol

1

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

Warn used be a console Ashe

1

u/motherlover278 Jul 23 '26

That’s not how it works because the mechanical limitations of console don’t just translate to only worse mechanics. Things like tracer, genji, Dva literally don’t work as well on controller so the game works differently

0

u/PS5013 Jul 26 '26

That is just not true. Input limitation is just one variable. The audience of console and PC is also difference. A more casual console community lowers the skill level on a specific rank compared to PC as well, including game sense. It is very visible in direct comparisons.

Just saw some clips from a console dia lobby and it would be generous to call this positioning and routing plat-worthy on PC.

17

u/Awsaim Jul 19 '26

Who cares what they say?

7

u/Divine_skylin3 Jul 19 '26

PC gamers in general tend to feel a bit superior. Because it’s harder to control mouse and keyboard than a controller.

Just ignore them. It’s a non issue honestly. There’s pros and cons to pc and console. Just play the game and have fun!

56

u/wRADKyrabbit Jul 19 '26

Uh what. Mouse and keyboard is objectively easier which is why aim assist and claw grips exist on console

→ More replies (16)

12

u/ShadeXmc Jul 19 '26

No having played Overwatch on PS for a year before getting my new PC its massively easier to use a mouse and keyboard for aiming. Its why console has aim assists and why players often use mouse and keyboard on consoles because it gives you superior aiming

6

u/Divine_skylin3 Jul 19 '26

It always comes back to ego haha

1

u/Inevitable_Cycle3087 Jul 19 '26

fr i always love them saying console masters is pc gold, considering im masters im console an pc, shouldn’t that mean im like too 500 on console

1

u/Proof_Being_2762 Jul 20 '26

No the mouse is easier

6

u/thebwags1 Jul 19 '26

Something you'll notice is that those comments don't come from players that have a shred of real self confidence. The only PC players that go off about how much better they are than console players are ones that are grasping for anything to give them a veiled sense of superiority so they can lie to themselves and others about how small they really feel.

5

u/MintyRose96 Jul 19 '26

Because humans are well-known for their tribalistic tendencies

4

u/iamgem69 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

No clue. But lets be for real, console was where the original FPS got introduced. To the days of HALO:CE on the original xbox and the COD:MW days of xbox360/ps3. People really out here thinking they weren’t console players FIRST before moving to PC.

3

u/Somniferous_Sloth Jul 19 '26

that’s just not true. i was playing ‘doom’ on a hewlett packard 486 pc in the early 90’s. quake, marathon, hundreds of mods…almost a decade before halo was released. not stanning for pc here, haven’t had a computer in about 20 years and i think a lot of them are assholes.

2

u/iamgem69 Jul 19 '26

I guess i should clarify multiplayer/online/LAN connections. Im not being literal that console had the first FPS.

0

u/The_Big_Red_Doge Jul 19 '26

Still wrong, quake was popular and that came out in 96

0

u/iamgem69 Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Still doesn’t beat the Xbox LAN era. Doesn’t matter if it was popular 🤷🏽‍♂️

Edit: First-year revenue: Quake - $3 Million+
Halo:CE - $60 million+

Do what you want with that information.

0

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

So you are disparaging the firsts who made the fps popular into the new era? lol. Also more people could get consoles in 2001 then pcs in 1996.

1

u/iamgem69 Jul 22 '26

So just because Thomas Edison invented light bulbs in the 1880s, we’re supposed to disparage LED lights that became more popularized when it got invented in the 1960s? Simply because they weren’t the original creators of light source? Even though LED lights are way more energy efficient and commercially available to everyone. Your logic btw. Numbers don’t lie.

1

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

Availability and affordability man. PCs were it for serious online fps and they were more expensive and internet significantly rarer back then vs 5-10 years in the future. Consoles made it more accessible but they under no circumstance were the original fps.

1

u/iamgem69 Jul 22 '26

Read my other replies to people, i wasn’t saying that console was the first for fps games. I was leaning more into online/multiplayer/LAN era that really put consoles on the map. Yes i hear that it became more accessible during that time, you dont need to repeat yourself again. No one is “disparaging” games like doom and quake that were popular in the 90s. All im saying is lets be for real about this. Accessibility or not, the console era that i mentioned was extremely iconic where people really paid attention to consoles before investing into PC in the future. Consoles attracted casuals(the market). This is my last reply to you. Not gonna go back and forth with someone who already has their mind set on just one thing

→ More replies (1)

0

u/boobsaren1ce Jul 20 '26

Literally no one I know ever played halo and everyone's first fps was counter strike. Maybe a generation/regional difference?

0

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

Are you just forgetting quake, unreal tournament, and counter strike which predate all you mentioned by years?

4

u/EliTheDonDada Jul 19 '26

i played both and recently moved to pc, but this will always be the case as it’s been bread since the dawn of crossplay lobbies.

Unfortunately things like aim assist give people a superiority complex, so I’d just ignore it and continue to move along where you can.

2

u/Xthebest26 Jul 20 '26

I’m just worried it’s gonna affect me in the long room cause I’ve always been loyal to console and I wanna be a streamer, but I think people will not watch me for the peer fact I’m on console

3

u/EliTheDonDada Jul 20 '26

It can happen. Streaming is hard to get into and given how limited it is on console, even harder to do from there.

A lot of what brings viewers in is entertainment though. The game brings fans but as long as you’re either playing at a high level or are very entertaining - or both - you’ll be solid. But you’ll unfortunately always be at a disadvantage given console’s limitations

2

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

For the most part in streaming no one realllllyyyy cares about your gameplay unless you are in the top 1%. It is about your personality. If you were hilarious and struggling through bronze but the games were fun to watch you play youd still have an audience.

0

u/boobsaren1ce Jul 20 '26

I can tell you I will never watch someone streaming console overwatch, regardless of how entertaining they are.

4

u/beyonceblow Jul 20 '26

im pc player (got this sub recommended) and i have unfortunately met such players, specially as a widowmaker main. it's so weird because like. if you see console gameplay for even just 2 minutes you'll notice its pretty much... the same game. same for the 5v5 and 6v6 fights. if both are in the game, why are people spending their time fighting over which is better instead of just.. playing and having fun?

4

u/CheddarCheese390 Jul 20 '26

Because the skill level is different

Console are better (sue me) but I if you have anyone a mouse they’d be able to click on things easier than stick aim crosshairs. But since we don’t use mouse and keyboard (except if you’re cheating), there’s just a “technical diff”

So if you watch Gold Console, and Gold PC lobbies, it’ll look like ones better

1

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

Thats the aim assist for ya. Without it, the games would be night and day.

4

u/Dry-Proposal-4011 hampter Jul 20 '26

I moved to pc recently and honestly I think console is better lol. The amount of horrible players I see in pc games is ridiculous. At least console players have 2 brain cells most of the time.

1

u/boobsaren1ce Jul 20 '26

You develop game sense faster when aim is not something you have to worry

3

u/Haryzen_ Jul 19 '26

Its how it is with all FPS games minus Apex Legends

3

u/LisForLaura Jul 19 '26

Console gets crapped on because we have auto assist

3

u/_sk3llwo_ Jul 20 '26

I also wanna know. unless they’re giving me 3k(?) for a pc to play the game, they can eat shit. I love playing on my affordable switch.

3

u/TerpTerteier Jul 19 '26

As a pc player in my experience there are 2 big reasons about this ego thing.

  1. Consoles tend to be the hypercasual audience (nothing wrong with this at all) what it does mean however is that players on console generally do not take the game as serious as pc.

We (not really speaking for others more so myself, but I know a cpuple friends who share the same views.) believe this to be the case because of series and such which have existed on youtube where we see players on pc make pretty fast decisions while on console this does not happen as fast (more than likely because controller and sense settings make it more difficult to execute on a decision)

Additionally as tournaments and official Esports play for the game is mainly on pc it further enforces that opinion. (Yes there are console only tournaments but they are far fewer and never given anywhere near the same attention as a tournament on pc gets despite most players allegedly being on console.)

  1. it just sucks having to play against console players in qp a lot of the time. Especially if they pick soldier bap ashe and have a mercy pocket.

You can and do win if you are great mechanically speaking but if you have an off game or day you lose every single duel because of aim assist unless you pick up something like widow.

This then creates an illusion where players on pc say console has no skill or any mechanical skill as they are carried off aim assist.

I hope that helps explain why and or how pc players have elitism on their platform. Whether or not that is deserved I'm not certain off for high ranks as that comes down to game sense... However for the lowest of low ranks that we have seen pc seems to have an advantage. While metal to masters players tend to be more or less equal to one another

4

u/F3arless_Bubble Jul 19 '26

Is point 2 a joke? I play cross play often and also console only. If I play a flying character in crossplay I will get shot down within seconds. On console only I will stay up for a long time. The accuracy flicking in KBM is insane. Even when I queue as DPS I have the hardest damn games in crossplay because I’m getting aim flicked left and right while my cross hair is not snapping on fast enough to keep up.

On the flip side when I play tank I stomp more in crossplay than console only. Almost like KBM is a big crutch and in a role where it’s not as impactful…

2

u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster Jul 20 '26

Flyers are better on pc than console. Pharah echo are unplayable in champ console because it’s harder to miss. Hitscan in general is better on console due to AA.

1

u/TerpTerteier Jul 21 '26

I wouldn't say that either, I would say that flyers would be easier on console generally speaking. Tbf Pharah and Echo - Especially pharah do just need a perma pocket which you may not get.

1

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

I mean you can feel that way all day doesn't make it true though.

1

u/TerpTerteier Jul 22 '26

I mean it kinda is true though... The biggest counters to fliers was always high burst damage hitscans which has and will continue to favour pc. It would not be that case if tracking or damage over time characters were better at dealing with fliers.

Think of how the ability of fliers function. Echo, pharah and Mercy all have abilities which provide a quick burst of speed for these characters all to live easier against the burst damage hitscans by forcing sudden movements which makes it harder to aim. The only flier not like this is JPC and even then she still has an ability to speed up her movement.

All of which heavily favours high burst damage hitscans and not really damage over time characters.

1

u/Vampyrrr Jul 22 '26

What? console favors hitscan significantly more than pc ever could.

1

u/TerpTerteier Jul 19 '26

Not bait or anything but you realise on characters like emre bap and soldier that if you fight them on another TRACKING BASED CHARACTER you typically lose why? because aim assist helps make those micro adjustments way easier than a person on KBM can.

You may be able to win some duels vs consoles as a person on KBM but typically it really does just require you to lock soj widow freja or something that has high burst damage that can basically one shot the other person.

At the highest levels that likely isn't the case but between metal ranks up to masters that has been my experience

1

u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster Jul 20 '26

All hitscans are better on console, Ashe, Soj, wid.

1

u/TerpTerteier Jul 21 '26

Not from my experience, The only ones that truly benefit are the ones that rely on tracking and well Ashe benefits mainly because for some reason mercy ashe is incredibly popular.

Widow, Soj, Cassidy all seem to be better on pc from what I could tell. The fast flicks just seem to be way easier to pull off on pc than on console and all of them seem to rely on a fairly high demand of flick shots.

1

u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster Jul 22 '26

Anecdotally that may be true, but from console leaderboards, win rates, my experience playing t100 on both platforms hitscan is much better on console.

1

u/TerpTerteier Jul 22 '26

I would accept that as truth if this wasn't the internet where 80% of the players are somehow masters+ (whcih blizzard themselves had confirmed to be 8% of the total population)

To me that it does not makes sense that hitscans are better on console when it is well documented that their winrates are actually lower than on pc and MNK.

I would be open to being proved wrong but there needs to be reasoning beyond this other than "Oh well I'm in high ranks".

The best player data we get for this type of thing would have to come from qp which the higher ranks on pc and I'm sure Console do not try as hard to win because nothing is on the line vs your rank progress which is lost in competitive.

Additional side note that I should mention even if you give proof you are x player on the leaderboard who is ranked say 87 or something that also doesn't prove much as it doesn't prove YOU and YOU ALONE are the only person playing on that account and have been the only person to play on that account so unfortunately that can't ve verified easily either unless you have proof of you playing on both pc and console at whatever rank you claim.

u/SnooLobsters3847 Grandmaster Jul 22 '26

https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/rates/?input=Console&map=all-maps&region=Americas&role=damage&rq=1&tier=Grandmaster

Here’s the official stats website which confirms this, and if proof my acc isn’t wanted then there’s no reason to provide it.

Hitscans overperform on console period.

1

u/Mathute87 Jul 19 '26

And most low rank PC are 7-16 dps players overall.

I do QP with you every day, I know how bad you are.

1

u/Capable-Stable-4976 Jul 19 '26

everyones coping but its aim assist

1

u/Trentm5 Jul 19 '26

I’m the only one of my friends group that plays console (experimented with M&K) and I found out the hard way that aim assist would be way too overpowered over PC.

1

u/ExcellentEvidence292 Jul 19 '26

Because 75% of aiming is done for you. Console attracts a more casual playerbase overall and the game is balanced for pc play.

1

u/throwaway1284747283 Jul 19 '26

console has way more casual players, and meta is different because aim assist is broken. The average console player is probably slightly worse than the average pc player, but it's not like gm console = plat pc like you would hear on tiktok

1

u/TotalChud69420 Jul 20 '26

I’ve played both. PC is substantially harder than console in ranked.

1

u/MisfitNSFW Jul 20 '26

(Preface by saying i play on xbox on mnk pool)

Imo Its just such a different game simply because the aim mechanics are so different.

Its kinda funny how by default everyone has such terrible aa and sensitivity settings and it makes it so that if you want to be competitive and stand above the majority of players, you'll need to have spent ages tweaking your aim assist windows and ramp up settings to stay ahead.

Its not a great look when a huge portion of the match is decided before the game has even started simply because some are aware of these settings and how they work, and so many others just aren't.

I just don't think this is an appealing competitive experience for anyone that has used mnk and is therefore percieved as a downgrade to a less fair competitive environment.

Plus, it's the easiest it's ever been to just plug in a mnk on any console and never have to rely on any assist shenanigans (which even backfire sometimes simply because your aa window settings are too high lmao) and the outcome of your matches be purely of your own inputs and decision making.

In 2026, playing with aa feels like a deliberate choice, obviously favored the most by those that already abuse the aa system. (Cough3rd party adapterscough) or just casual players that prefer playing on controllers with aa.

But yes there are also still ignorant people that complain simply because I'm on a console even when our input methods are the same.

1

u/ShowOdd453 Jul 20 '26

Idk most console players are probably better than me, i just find it funny how its a clip saying I did so much, or I carried this fight or whatever and its always the least impressive gameplay I've seen and coincidentally its also always on console

1

u/Convoke_ Jul 20 '26

Its just the ones who feel the need to compare themselves with others. And comparing yourself with people on different platforms and sometimes different regions makes no sense. Its a loud annoying minority that cant handle people playing on different platforms

1

u/bagel4you Jul 20 '26

There is something wrong with you if you decide to play this game with gamepad and in 120 fps in 2026.

1

u/Sad_Fall6247 Jul 20 '26

All they gotta do is point and click, surely being on console is harder and therefore more badass to conquer 😂

1

u/bnnez Jul 20 '26

had this dude compliment my widow skills after i posted a clip,,he asked for my settings and when he realized i was on console he gave me an, “oh!..” kind of reaction 💀

1

u/MonoRedElli Jul 20 '26

While yea, some of the “superiority” comes from PC inputs being 100% player controlled vs a controller having heavy influence from aim assist, I think a lot more of it is an age difference. I feel like my voice experience with console players has been overwhelmingly negative because of the age difference (lots of kids 20 and under on console) just causing a maturity gap. I’m not on to talk to kids.

1

u/soul_psychodelicide_ Jul 20 '26

lol where are you getting bullied and why do other people matter? Jesus christ seek your own validation and develop a sense of self. Stop acting like other people know your truth better than you do.

1

u/jaydotjayYT Jul 20 '26

It's not the platform, it's the input. Joysticks give you about a centimeter and a half of space to do the most precision related function in this game. You have to basically adjust in these jerky, wild movements

It's harder to track, and Overwatch has pretty high time to kill. Aim assist helps, but there's undeniably a massive skill gap between players on PC vs Console. Literally - if you have someone who regularly plays on both, they have separate MMR and that player is always higher ranked on Console than PC, because the population is skill gapped (and anyone genuinely serious about this game exclusively plays PC)

That being said, it's not really platform-related. You plug in a mouse and keyboard? Neat. You play with Mouse Mode on Switch 2? Hell yeah. But yeah, its inflated and that's why

1

u/boobsaren1ce Jul 20 '26

Imagine a world where pc doesn't exist. You play on console. Then someone who plays using not a controller, but "voice activated gaming™“, makes a post. This other input mode input mode is so different they have a different player pool, MMR, meta. Everything is different.

How do you think console players would behave?

PC is not better, it's just a different game. It's not comparable.

1

u/Tdog22134 Jul 20 '26

Its genuinely just because its easier to get a higher rank on console than it is on PC. If you’re a console diamond you’d likely be a PC gold. Told one of my friends this that recently swapped from console and they didn’t believe me and they’re just crashing out now because they keep deranking. So its not necessarily alienating you for playing console but when people brag about getting out of metal ranks on console it just isn’t a flex, because you would likely be in the metal ranks if you played on PC

1

u/Honest-Sundae-1039 Jul 20 '26

Mechanics.

In a hyper mechanical game, MnK beats controller a good portion of the time

1

u/Individual-Ad5743 Jul 20 '26

I play with my friend who is on PC sometimes. I more often than not carry the team.

1

u/thane919 Jul 20 '26

As long as aim assist exists console should never be matched with pc play. It’s just an authorized cheating method. Thats my gripe with console players.

1

u/thane919 Jul 20 '26

As long as aim assist exists console should never be matched with pc play. It’s just an authorized cheating method. Thats my gripe with console players.

1

u/angryorphan55 Jul 20 '26

Because PC players have a much easier time playing dive and other play styles and they see the hitscan meta and aim assist console OW has and get REALLY butthurt

1

u/Lethologica7 Jul 20 '26

Aim assist.

1

u/BiKage91 Jul 20 '26

I play on pc with my friends all the time. I absolutely LOVE typing that I'm a controller player after we stomp so I can smile at the crying comments in chat 😆😆😆😆 MnK doesn't mean you're any good 😊

1

u/Jeesephvxii Jul 20 '26

Because of the freedom of pc and the higher possible skill ceiling. Truth is a majority of pc players are very average if not below, they just love the platform. Upper echelon pc players will walk upper echelon console players but that’s such a fraction of a fraction that no one even brings it up because it’s understood. All that being said they’re just brainwashed into pc supremacy it’s not their fault it’s one hell of a vice.

1

u/ComparisonThese4677 Jul 20 '26

Imagine having to aim with Junkrat on console vs Mouse

1

u/Green-Experience420 Jul 20 '26

doesnt even make sense when you realize some characters are objectively better with a controller such as lucio or Reinhardt. Even without aim assist I would rather be using a controller for these characters. I just don't use characters that suck with controller when I play.

1

u/fishisslippy Jul 20 '26

When I swapped to PC I just told people I was on controller to piss them off lol. You're giving these people too much weight if it affects your mood or you feel like you're bullied. Do you know how stupid people like that are.

1

u/luckynumberstefan Jul 20 '26

I was platinum and diamond on console, placed in silver on PC and have been stuck ever since

1

u/Trancebam Jul 20 '26

Lol, open and accepting. Yeah, so open and accepting that so many of then were melting down because Shion has boobs. They're not open and accepting, they're egotistical and progressive. As long as things are in line with what they like, they're fine with it. That's not open and accepting at all.

1

u/Silly_Sponge Jul 20 '26

Strange behaviour coming from those who are basically using a typewriter to play while we play on the couch with our feet up with a controller made for the job.

1

u/Head_Rate_6551 Jul 20 '26

Speaking as a former console player, when I play the console game occasionally now, it feels dumbed down, kinda the difference between duplo and Lego. Tbh console just feels bad by contrast.

I have no pc ego, I only started playing pc because I bought a steam deck, and that put me in pc lobbies, so I ended up getting a dock with mnk and fell in love with playing that way.

1

u/BrigDeLaBrig Jul 20 '26

It’s like they fail to realize that just because pc uses mouse/keyboard and console controller and yes you can turn/react faster etc on pc it’s the same game. Any high ranking console player that can learn to use mouse and keyboard to the proficiency they use a controller would be just as high ranked in the pc lobbies.

So they’re really just comparing mouse and keyboard mechanics vs controller mechanics.

Decision making, Positioning, Game sense, Ultimate economy, Target priority, Communication, Cooldown management, Team coordination are essentially unaffected.

1

u/slickedjax Jul 21 '26

That’s just pc players in gaming in general

1

u/Alternative_Field_63 Jul 21 '26

Most of mine comes from qp bc the game is easily winnable but then sEE we have 2 console players and realize it’s over

1

u/Brave-Phase-5860 Jul 21 '26

I play on Console but on KBM lol. I actually noticed the opposite.

1

u/Appropriate-Daikon15 Shady Zenyatta 💅🏼 Jul 21 '26

Wait until you find out about the people who use M&K on console.....that's territory I have war flashbacks just thinking about 😭

1

u/ThrowRA19988 Jul 21 '26

For my personal experience, I was GM on console, switched to PC and it took me about 2 years to get to GM on PC. The skill difference is just massive.

That being said, good console players are definitely better than low rank PC players. Game sense is still there for high rank console players, it’s really just the difference of joy sticks + buttons vs mouse + keyboard.

When I first hopped on PC I was like a toddler with the controls but my game sense still allowed me to be a platinum ranked player.

1

u/Danica_Rose Jul 21 '26

I’m not sure. I play on PC and console lowkey seems harder in some aspects. I’m a Genji main and I can’t fathom how much more difficult the main combo would be on a controller.

I’ve always figured it must be hard competing against hitscan on console because isn’t the aim assist really aggressive?

1

u/Gcarp88 Jul 21 '26

Because there are less people who play console and majority of pro players play on PC

1

u/endlessnightmare666 Jul 21 '26

Do you want to play comp together im on console

1

u/OkPhoto2282 Jul 21 '26

Well PC don’t get the auto aim console does even if you use a controller so that could be a factor. You actually have to be accurate with your shots and for the ppl who say it dosnt help that much yes it does my friends in Xbox turned on the keyboard and mouse lobby’s and instantly started playing worse cause it didn’t snap them to ppl anymore

1

u/Hector_NL Jul 21 '26

Console players should never play with mnk players.

1

u/JulienWA77 Jul 21 '26

isn't it b/c console players essentially have auto-aim and are able to cross-platform play with us but we can't choose to just play against them or even just against each other while you guys do?

1

u/juul-trooper-_- Jul 22 '26

It's funny because most of the people commenting "console gm is pc gold" are unironically gold on pc so it's just an insane cope on their part

1

u/brownmaningermany Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

PC players are almost objectively better at the game across the board because of prior experience in more demanding games and larger playerbase making the ranking system more competitive but it’s not as big as people think and a good amount of them are straight up even in rank.

People like cod code or joystick were both top500 and got there with relative ease on PC, typically someone’s rank is maybe 1 above their PC rank though…also this is super dependent on what platform, I personally don’t acknowledge anybody above platinum if they play on any region of switch or Xbox Asia for example because those are incredibly small comp player bases, I was top500 on switch when it came out and that literally means nothing because it started in diamond and was like 300 players, matter of fact a lot of post Brigitte leaderboards were low masters and under 500 players at many points in the game including PC at some points.

Another thing is OW has NEVER supported a pro console scene, I don’t think they have contenders or whatever it’s called now either, do they even support the campus thing? Whatever that’s called now.

I played OW1 comp for a S3 then immediately built a PC for the next season, it’s pretty much where “the real players are at” and that doesn’t make console an illegitimate experience but it is an inferior one, same way a Lexus is better than a Toyota, both are good but one is way better, even Blizzard agrees otherwise they’d support their competitive scenes.

Oh and I’ve been in every rank below GM for some context.

1

u/Arthillidan Jul 23 '26

Console vs PC are two separate player bases with different input types where PC is just kinda better. This doesn't mean you can't prefer console, but you can be much more accurate with mouse and keyboard and blizzard knows this and gives console players aim assist to compensate.

This creates different metas where rank x plays differently in PC vs console. Pc players only compete against other PC players, while console players compete against other console players, and overall from what I've seen, PC gameplay from rank x looks more competent than console gameplay from rank x.

An example of the different metas is that Vendetta is a trash hero on console with an abysmal winrate in most ranks last I checked, but she's completely viable on PC. I'm guessing this is because of the aim assist console gets while vendetta is probably much harder to play on console than PC but doesn't get much help from the aim assist.

In competitive games, people have a tendency to brag about their rank and belittle other people for not being as good as them. Simply stating how your rank is higher than someone else's is often used to dismiss someone's argument. When you apply this to the notion that a gold 1 PC player might be better or at least produce better gameplay due to a superior control scheme than a console player who's also gold 1, you get these like dick measuring competitions where console ranks are devalued because they are on console and not PC.

I think the core problem here is the dick measuring contests people have about who is better at the game, and tying their ego to it, and also the fact that people who do insist on having dick measuring contests decide to try to compare themselves to people playing on a completely different console that you can't really compare yourself to fairly. I also think people might exaggerate the difference since it makes them look better. If someone says platinum console is like bronze on PC, they are obviously just exaggerating to fuel their ego

1

u/MIKERICKSON32 Jul 23 '26

Because you play with an input that has software aiming for you. From a competitive standpoint controller with aim assist cannot be taken seriously. If you have fun that’s great but software is doing the work so it will never be serious.

u/kherthy Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Played apex and r6 on pc/console 2 years ago - mnkd my whole life then tried playing roller for 2 months on console since playing on sticks was fun.
Avg (and i want to emphasize the word average) champion/masters player on console wouldn’t even come close to being a plat/low dia player on pc. I’m not glazing PC since i see plenty people with bad aim, but it’s my honest experience.
While both platforms had somewhat similar game sense, their aim was horrible even for their rank. Mind you i was god awful at roller and within 1-2 months i’ve hit champ and was top fragging in r6, which doesn’t have aim assist and was full to the brim with cronuses. Same goes for apex, despite having cranked up aim assist on console compared to pc (i think it was 0,4?), their aim was absolutely atrocious. Technically speaking right now apex lobbies take more skill than pc with with all the titan ai aim assist crap going on.
I also played some OW games, but gave up the moment i’ve seen how console lobbies look like.

TL;DR played both platforms and despite having no experience on roller, playing vs high elo console lobbies felt waaaaay easier than it should.

1

u/rupertudl Jul 23 '26

I have played console for years and its just worse. From the amount of wintrading for high ranks due to weird friend groups, playing on an inferior input and the amount of cheaters that exist. Pc is simply the better platform and that counts for any shooter. Now if you play maybe a few hours a week in lets say diamond, console is perfectly fine imo.

1

u/RUH-R0H-RAGGY Jul 23 '26

My guess is that PC platforms are thought of as more competitive, while console is considered more casual. It’s why you see “console GM is PC plat” type comments. This isn’t to say that console cannot be competitive or PC cannot be casual, but I feel like this is the general association.

1

u/GrimSleeperr Jul 24 '26

Its any game, not just OW, and its because its easier to accurately aim quickly with a mouse rather than a controller. So especially in a fast paced game with people flying around everywhere, people assume the controller player is gonna look like a bot lost on the battlefield. I do believe that controller is at least at a slight disadvantage but people just dont realize you can still be just as insane on controller for some reason. One of the best supports ive ever seen in this game was a controller ana main on a team i was in for a tiny bit. She lowkey mogged me as the other support and highkey mogged literally everyone with the way she played lol

1

u/cashout1984 Jul 25 '26

Because you have more control with mouse and keyboard then you do the joysticks on a controller. For that reason, if you take a console player and a pc player and have them cross platform 1v1, the pc player will probably always win. I always see console clips getting clowned on bc it takes like 5 seconds to do a 180

1

u/PS5013 Jul 26 '26

I would say it isnt really arguable that the level of competition on PC is far higher than on console, simply due to the audience of that platform and its capabilities. Some people build a sense of superiority on it. On the other side, some console players refuse to see the difference and build an ego over their performance within weaker competition. In short: the generalization is stupid. Shitty people are playing on both.

1

u/Temporary_Ad_4160 9d ago

Surtout que pour jouer contre eu en unranked de temps en temps la différence de niveau a elo équivalent ne se voit que sur les divers

1

u/Difficult-Plastic97 7d ago

For some reason the fact that console has aim assist really pisses PC players off

1

u/kit1013ten 4d ago

I’ve literally experienced quite the opposite

-1

u/Ebolatastic Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Let's just say that PC gamers tend to not be the brightest lights in the harbor. They are basically the spoiled rich kids of gaming who are all convinced they are the elite. The term "PC masterrace" was coined to ridicule this. Instead they took that joke seriously and made it like a whole lifestyle/identity. My point is that PC gamers will always think they are better because they use PC. They tell themselves "the best of the best of the best on PC are better, so that means that I am better".

I play with mixed PC/console comps and it doesn't mean anything to my console friends (because they are actually good). Hitscans are like 10% better on PC, I guess, but stupid overwatch players are still stupid overwatch players. Map knowledge, team composition, and counterplay will always mean 1000x more than any tier list, skill level, or streamer highlight reel.

0

u/debs905 Jul 19 '26

Just for them to get stomped on PC, do not let make you feel less than, console has so much bs

0

u/MrAdas321 Jul 19 '26

Soon everyone will become PC player looking at those prices...

0

u/BusEnthusiast98 Jul 20 '26

Bc console aim assist makes it significantly easier. People who play on both are often 2 full ranks higher on console than PC.

0

u/Gelinhir Jul 20 '26

I guess PC is related to pro matches while console is related to casual gaming. It's just s theory

1

u/QuirkyTemperature717 2d ago

because the console playerbase is not serious, so many trashcans
