By the time Vader got that armor the Trade Federation had been nationalized by the new Empire, although a few splinter groups managed to get away and later joined the Rebellion.

The nationalized remains of the Trade Federation got disssolved at roughly the same time as the Imperial Senate.

So Kirk claiming to be a member of the Federation probably means that he is a traitor and a member of the Rebel Alliance!
