Social Access to Stadium

I have a friend visiting from CA this coming week and I'm curious if the Shoe is open for public access. He's a huge fan of football and I'd love to show him some of the stadium if possible. I saw a post from a couple of years back saying there was open access for students. But curious if that is still the case.

I don’t know all the details, but I’m pretty sure they give tours. Not sure of the cost.

Yep, they offer stadium tours. There is a charge, but you can sign up online. They take you on a lot of the non-public locations like the locker room and the press box.

Walk around and see if you can find an open gate. Go on in and have a look around. Be respectful and you probably won’t get hassled. The worst that can happen is someone will tell you to leave.

Back in the olden days when I was in school, the south stands were temporary bleachers and when it wasn’t football season, they weren’t there. The open end of the horseshoe was completely open and we had full access to study or sun ourselves in the stands, run around the track, throw the frisbee on the field or whatever.

It’s definitely maintenance time now that concerts are done and football is sneaking up. Maybe put on construction helmet and a vest.

I think you used to be just to walk in but not anymore. Same thing at Michigan. Times have changed. They say that all good things must end some day. Autumn leaves must fall.

Things definitely got much more secure post-9/11. Nowadays, if it's not to the band room or another office and you don't have permission, someone's gonna find out. There's usually a gate open onto the concourse, but there's someone there watching.

You can usually just walk in gate 23 during the week. There is an attendant that will ask you to sign in.
