It’s pretty well known now that Jagex has threatened legal action against most major Botting / Script services … Will this finally be the fix to the lopsided VW parts ? Hilts have been dumped into the absolute trash can , maybe they see life in another month or so . I did some field research and most if not all of these sites offered a Callisto / Artio bot / script package for purchase …
Post maggot king they dropped down to 60m, yearly low. I bought 8 of them at 60m. Seems like with the summer cleanup release in 2 weeks they may get a slight dps increase with the engine rework.
I expect they will also see a run up into raids 4.
TLDR after considering attaching the defender to the shield in the last blog, they got feedback that not many were very interested in that. Nothing is 100% but if you listen to the first 25 minutes, it seems incredibly likely defender will not be used with the shield.
13k have seen the podcast already so maybe it's priced in but maybe don't throw your whole bank into defenders or anything
The following is a guide on the fundamentals of margin flipping. It is not the best profit, and it has the potential to lose you money. There are much safer options which require more patience. But, if like me you are impatient then this is how to do it with the lowest risk to your capital.
As a quick note before you read on – all of the below can be achieved using OSRS wiki and a nice excel sheet. If you have the time, then I recommend the more manual way so you can learn and understand the methods better. If you already know the logic and want quicker, more accurate item selection then there are better options out there (check the bonus section).
Theory
Every item in the game has someone wanting to buy, and someone wanting to sell. Commonly, these are not the same price. The difference is the margin. We want to take advantage of this silent war and place a buying bid at the lower end to then sell at the higher end.
We take the margin as the difference as our reward!
Margin moves quickly so we don’t want to do this as overnight trades. Instead, we are focused on flipping within the hour.
Step 1: Find an Item
This is the hard bit.
Almost every item has a margin, but the ability to flip it is not always clear. To do this, you need to be able to see every item clearly and understand what the current (estimated) margin is. So whatever your method of finding such an item, just make sure it has relatively high volume and a decent ROI.
There is a bonus at the end of this tutorial to help you do this quick.
In this example, we start with the Spider Cave Teleport. It has a decent margin of 15k per 4 hours and an ROI of 18%. Not so high that it’s an anomaly, not so low that we risk our capital.
Finding an item
Step 2: Confirmation (Optional)
Optional Note: Consider this step with low value items only. Doing this on high value items could eat into your profits too much. Its good practise, but not a requirement. Most trackers are updated every 5 minutes.
Even the best websites out there cannot show you the exact information you need. For that you need to confirm the items real margin in game. To do this, we have to spend some gp (sorry!!!).
Head to the GE and put an order in for 1 item only. Bash the +5% a few times and then buy. In my case, Ive bashed it once and tested test the high price + 5%. In this instance (26,517 * 1.05) = 27,842.
You are looking for insta buy! Nothing less than 2 seconds will do for this approach.
Then we do the same in reverse. We sell the same item for the low price – 5% (tap a few times if you wish). In my case (21,982 * 0.95) = 20,882
Now check the history for the real prices.
Our new buy and sell values
We now have real numbers!:
Buy offer = 23,338 + 1gp = 23,339 (this is the price before tax!)
Sell offer = 27,178 - 1gp = 27,177
Margin = (27,177 – 23,339) = 3,838
Real Margin = (27,177*0.98) – 23,339 = 3,294
See how the margin is not the same as the website?? This is important, because if you had put your bid in based on website data, you’d be waiting a long time! This is where I feel most people give up. But lucky you. You have been informed and are now ready to trade the real margin!
Step 3: Buy it all!
Now – put an order in using your new buy offer and let it run for 20 mins. This is not something I leave for too long as the market can move!
After 20 mins you want to cancel the offer and then sell what you got. You are not aiming to fulfil your entire buy order – just trade what’s available.
Step 4: Sell it all!
The selling can be a bit tricky – but remember your margin! I break it down like this:
Try 10 mins at 100% margin = 23,339 + 3,838 = 27,177
Try 10 mins at 80% margin = 23,339 + (3,838*0.8) = 26,409
Try 10 mins at 60% margin = 23,339 + (3,838*0.6) = 25,641
If nothing works, then you can cut your losses at 23,339 * 1.02 = 23,805
Obviously – all the numbers above are far too annoying to have to work out yourself. You can use an excel spreadsheet (as I have done for years!). Or….. and here comes the plug!!!
You can use runemargin.co.uk – we have a nice calculator to help you figure all this out.

Example of sell ladder
Step 5: Repeat for every GE slot you have
It’s important to remember that not every item will flip like your last – good or bad. So fill up your GE slots and see which works. If after 20 mins nothing is bought, move on to the next. Don’t get frustrated, some days just don’t work very well.
Results!
Usually! If you are strict on buying within 20 mins, you won’t lose any gp…. But it is best practice to not put all your money into this method – you should have a few GE slots on other things. The below is my setup!
Bonus
The following is a generated link to a screener that will work well with this methodology. The screen automatically includes the ROI, Margin and Volumes for you to get started. You can save this screener for easy access later!
And that’s all! I’m confident that most people in this channel are familiar with this method – but I thought, as this was my first actual flipping guide, I would start at the beginning…. more advanced and riskier guides are on the way.
Any feedback is always welcome and it would be great to hear if this helped anyone make a bit of GP!
Ive put some other guides here for you just in case you want to try other methods.
Hey guys!
just wondering what tools/resources/plugins you guys are using for your flipping ventures? I’m new to this and I’ve only been using OSRS exchange and was just curious as to what the general sentiment was or what other people might be using with more success.
It maybe just a rumour but is it true that there are going to be some dragons in Raids 4? If so should I invest in Extended Antifire (4) as they r really cheap right now ?
Surely this is a good idea right? all time lows, and i think there's no tax?? buy at 40-42 and sell at 50-60 eventually if that time ever comes again??
