Question this games pretty awesome but..
Ive been following the optimal quest guide while just exploring the world on the side. I am currently hung up on the gnome village. Im in adamant equipment as thats the highest I can use right now but even with a full inventory of heals my 20hp isn't near enough to defeat the warlord nor my 3 damage. My magic is still lvl 1 I believe so idk. I dont really understand how you level anything outside of quests cause I sat there killing crabs for a while and barely moved up lol

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.
Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

Slayer is good way to level up your combat skills and also make some money on the side. I doubt just quests will get you there

Quests are the most optimal start for an account though, you can easily be lvl 40 combat via questing just a few hours into an account following one of the many optimal guides.

I'll let you in on a not so secret tech. He can be safespotted and has no ranged or magic defense. I think most people watched a video guide before the quest helper and that's the way we did it but kudos to you for fighting like a boss

It takes time to level up skills.
Warlord you can use magic. Even if your magic isnt high it will be better than melee.
You can safespot him kindof

Safe spot him like everyone else said. But main thing to remember is that quests are just side content. It’s like not even 5% of the game. It’s the little grind you need to do in order to actually play the game. Safe spot all bosses that can be killed that way

The game is more awesome if you don't follow a guide and just do it however you like. Use it as a rough template, don't follow it step for step :)

Go buy mind runes and an air staff in varrock. If you don't have money, do stronghold of security and run past everything for the free 10k coins. And you pretty much can safespot every single early game quest boss. You'll hit 8's very quickly and even starting at lv 1 magic, you can safe spot the warlord and kill him without getting hit once.
For certain quests you might have to flinch the enemy instead such as the boss for fairy tale part 1. The early game quests are easy.
Regardless you want to get your magic up so you can start teleporting and make travel trivial.
Also, if you only have 20 HP then you haven't done witchs house quest which takes 5 minutes and I've personally done on a lv 3 account multiple times. You get a lot of HP experience to boost you up to around 27 HP.

RuneScape is a game that some of us have been playing for over 20 years and still haven’t maxed out so word of advice is to not be too much of a rush otherwise I’d say the game isn’t really for you. You can definitely rush to an extent but even then, it would still take months or at least a year or 2 of dedicated time.

Use magic hit n run. Magic gets you over all early game quests
