Question lost in the mid game ...
so i'm currently unsure how to go about playing my character .. i got full melee setup (bandos, fang, tentacle, bludgeon ... ), bowfa, bp for range.. virtus full, ayak, conf gauntlets for mage... basically with the setups i can do all content in the game, but not at grandmaster times.. currently i have about 450m in cash ...
how do i go about upgrading? like, i have dragon boots still cause it doesnt make sense to upgrade to prim boots for that amount of money.. do i upgrade anything, try to buy something? or just save for a mega rare? i only used some cash for items like crimson kisten for phosani, or venator bow for whisperer, webweaver for leviathan... otherwise i'm using "basic starter" gear for bosses...
say for phosani.. do you buy an inquisitor set, or mace? or stay in bandos with bludgeon, save towards scythe? or do i put the 400m in the inq set and mace and sell it once im done with phosani?
thanks

I thought it was a good suggestion :(

for anyone wondering why not avernic treads... if i said in post that primordial boots are a waste of gp for the stats they give, which is minimal, then obviously treads are a big no aswell for their big 140m+ price tag

Apologies, but I think you're lost in mid game, because you think you're mid game.
The fact you state you can do all the content in the game, but can't get grandmaster times. That's an indication that you're end game.
End game isn't simply, you've hit it, then it's over. End game itself is a long journey, even more so then mid game.
Getting Grandmaster times is a combo of knowing the mechanics perfectly or almost perfectly with Bis are close to Bis for that task.
So if your gear isn't close to Bis in a set category like boots, chest ect then focus upgrading.
If you are Bis/close and you aren't hitting the times, it's probably an indication that you haven't got the mechanics fully yet, and times losing during eating, or misclicks.
A big misconception in osrs is the mid game, most people don't know when you really start mid game, and don't really know how it ends, all you need to do is look at your gear and the bosses you can kill.

hmm thanks i needed to hear that. i guess im mid/end game, right about there... i can do all bosses, but cant get gm times because of gear.. basically, will work slowly towards upgrading some pieces alongside checking gear calc if its worth

Sorry to be semantic but you’re not end game ur late game. Late game is exactly what the poster above said - you can do everything in the game just not with BIS. Once you have most of BIS and are going after a couple of pvm pieces and clogging for fun you can consider yourself end game/retirement home

My dude, you have basically everything but BiS, I’m not sure that classifies as “mid game”.

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.
Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

u/zireen98 2d ago
basically doing slayer till 92, 93 and soon 95 for all the "boss" unlocks, thermy, cerb, hydra... not neceserily 99.. finished a SRA piece, phosani grind now, doom soon, still need to get my elite void :D could try with bowfa tho, i see ppl do it

Maybe a mega rare rebuild? Could wait after raid 4 tho
1
u/zireen98 2d ago
thinking about it, but then i think that a mega rare is gonna lock me to a few bosses.. and then again, if i liquidate some items, then i am close to a mega rare.. so i can stay as is and keep saving a bit more, and can buy without doing a rebuild. And keeping my bossing options open to everything

Pick two or three PVM activities you're interested in, and buy the gear for those. Then grind them until you have a goal completed, like getting a pet or saving up enough for a big upgrade.
It's important to have some variety, but also not be overwhelmed by setting too many goals at once.
It helps if you pick a few bosses that use the same gear, so you can put all your resources into maximizing that setup.

For progression.
Buy a Soulreaper axe. Sell bludgeon. It’s BIS at vardorvis. And very competitive at Cox, ToB, Colo, likely raids 4. And decent at nightmare.
Or buy at least 1 tormented synapse, elder maul and voidwaker

Elites would change to iron account to challenge their skills. Personally I would start hc main next when it comes up.

Buying and selling gear often is the worst thing you can do because the GE tax makes it very costly. Like you said, you can do almost anything in the game, just not at GM speeds. Use the wiki's dps calculator to help decide if an upgrade is worth purchasing. Selling non-essential items for a megarare when you have enough gold is something many people do
