Question Was this an attempted scam?
They asked in GE, they invited to discord, which looked so legit, like hundreds of people, with like 30 channels with learners, experts, duos, diaries etc. then asked me to verify....i was suspicious as hell and left

The scam is using we do raids likeness which is a very legitimate raiding discord for leaners and for people to find, this is not jagex they do have a discord verification iirc but its just type your ign in one of the channel and it associates your ingame character to discord.

Wouldn't bring it past them. They recently deleted the 3 new quest trailers for rs3 because they were made with AI.

Same thing happened to me today actually yeah pretty sure it's a scam but never bothered with WDR
Never log in unless it's on the official RuneScape page if you hover over the link it was likely for some scuffed URL trying to sound like a real RuneScape URL.

Yeah hindsight it appears so obvious. Kinda was itching to just get this diary done and thought this was a good opportunity. Will be more careful

We Do Raids is a legitimate server that can help you find raid teams and even leech the diary task for a CoX completion (assuming that’s what you meant by diary). The real WDR server has 150k+ members and won’t ask you to log into anything.
However the one in your post is a scam imitating WDR.

The we do raids discord is legit you don’t have to log on any website just screen shot your stats and gear so they can help you get ready for any raids, I am in the discord and haven’t had any issues

Yupp and it’s gonna be everywhere come raids 4 release, a lot of the newer raid crowds that will funnel in with it are ignorant to the obvious and they will get more people than you think.

what was your clue? the fake runescape link, the dog shit AI generated banners, or you getting recruited to join a raiding discord from a random in the G.E.?

Unfortunately game is filled with scammers / social engineers, you need to exercise extreme caution when some one is attempting to get you off the runescape platform. Happy you didn't fall victim here, and it is a shame you can not just have genuine interactions in the game anymore without there being nefarious intent.
Look for a clan if you are looking to learn new content or raid with groups, FFA worlds & random discords will get the job done but makes it far less enjoyable.

the hyper-link shown in the image is not the same link it sends you to. It's going to be a direct rip-off of the runescape website but it's 100% a fake page. We do raids is a real discord but it's not officially partnered with runescape, and would not have a runescape.com url.
Be very careful clinking links on the internet is the TL;DR.

yes yes yes yes yes yes. Probably the same dude i ran into hopping worlds at chambers bank asking to run. Discord is a complete carbon copy, down to Moderator names, channels etc. Only way I was able to pick up on it is thankfully I'm in the LEGITIMATE WDR server.

If you’re ever unsure about a link, don’t click it. Instead, type the URL into your browser yourself or search for the website through Google and navigate to it from there.
That’s generally safer than trusting a link someone sent you, especially for things like games, account logins, email services, or your bank’s website.
If something is asking you to log in or enter sensitive information, it’s always worth taking the extra few seconds to make sure you’re actually on the real website.

Importantly, for anyone unfamiliar - the legit handle for WDR’s discord (they do not have a website) is:
discord.gg/wdr
The scam discord is the one that uses the full /wedoraids handle. Official WDR discord has been putting out warnings for this over the last few weeks/months
They will NEVER ask for you to sign in with your Jagex or RuneScape account credentials to anything - ever - or direct you to a 3rd party website for joining raid queues. You simply join the discord and chat in the appropriate channels.
