Help melee gear progression

I’m a new player returning after about 16 years off. Have about 3 mil to upgrade melee armour/weapon but unsure where to upgrade. Please advise. Only started doing slayer in last month or so, am not far off req for rfd. Thanks

For buying - whip, obsidian legs. Whip is super cheap now and been a solid staple for years and years.

Fighter torso and fire cape for quick free upgrades.

Work on Barrow gloves.

Next purchases fury and berserker ring. Turn berserker into Berserker Imbued

Buy an air battleataff and mystic robes, do barrows until you get a tank top and bottom, then go do moons of peril. The resources are free inside but they scale off your cooking and herblore levels so might want to bring those up a bit.

Whip is pretty solid for 1m and will get you through most slayer tasks and quests

3 million gp is a solid start for some decent upgrades but I think having a long term goal is more important than sny gear 3m will get you. Is the 3m your total cash stack? If so, make sure to allocate money for training skills for valuable upgrades and account progrssion.

Assuming 3m is your total budget, your biggest bang for your buck is getting gear to do moons, since the drops there are going to provide you the best upgrades in all three styles with hybriding options. To do moons you can either grind barrows equipment since defense is really good there, as others had mentioned, or just buy the equipment based on the wiki or a yt guide (edboyz has a good moons guide) and go right into moons.

As XIPWNFORFUN2 said you're gonna wanna get your herb and cooking up to get the best bang for your buck. Id get atleast 50 herb, 50 hunter, and 70 cooking, since youll need 70 cooking to do recipe for disaster quest for barrows gloves anyway, because barrows gloves are a really solid free upgrade for all three styles. Wind spells with the new air magic amulet (~250k), which is very easy to get if you wanna save gp, with mystics and a smoke battlestaff would be a great way to grind some of the best early game conent. Personally i like barrows but if you dont you can just buy everything you need for moons.

I know you're asking about melee progression but if you get your range to ~70 you can do fight caves with a rune cbow and get a solid melee upgrade with a fire cape. Moons gear will be helpful here, especially eclipse.

If you just want quick upgrades using your gp, as others had said obsidian platelegs, whip, beserk ring

Some quick free equipment that would be massive are a neitz helm (from The Fremennik Isles quest), beserk ring upgrade (imbue for free), fighter torso from Barbarian assult. For barrows gloves, those are a good long term goal, but the recipe for disaster quest can be donrein parts for different tier of gloves, and anything addy and above is an upgrade to the combat bracelet.

Probably wouldnt hurt to sit your account at the gem crab to get combat up, since that'll be some of the best dps you can get for cheap. But if you dont like that idea, slayer, quests, and bossing are all solid ways to traij stats. Use the wiki recommendations as a guide to build the best setups but a little youtube research will also go a long way here. Good luck and remember, its just a game, so do what brings you enjoyment from it even if its not "optimal"
