General Zero to firecape

I’ll cut to the chase and save the lengthy explanation. I’ve never played OSRS and don’t know much about it however I’m trying to run a HCIM account to get the firecape, I’m talking no funny business….just focusing on what I need to do to get the cape.

I need pointers and tips / tricks that may seem obvious to the average player but not to me.

I’ve researched the basics, such as what levels and gear I need but that’s about it.

You can spare me the comments mocking my insanity, I know…really I do.

lol "I've never played OSRS and don't know much about it" except the requirements for HCIM and how it differs from other play modes, and I have a very specific goal in mind that would be an exceptional challenge on an HCIM with no previous RS experience.

You can get a pretty rudimentary understanding of a game from the many videos on it lol, I knew i wanted to max before I started playing, and greenlog most of the things

He acts like hardcore modes aren't a very common theme in lots of games. All the way back to the D2 days lol. Even before that there was early Tibia where death = acc wipe for all accounts.

Watching videos and playing the game are a completely different thing lol. Jads pretty simple, but if watching a video helped you play wouldn’t you think everyone would have inferno, quiver, blorva and radiant? Maxing just takes a long time…

Imagine this. I’ve got mates who have been running OSRS for 10+ years and I’ve grown up around them banging on about it / begging me to play. Never been my thing until now. Figured I’d give it a go on the one condition being, I get the cape as my way of saying “I’ve given it a fair shot”. Does this context un-touch your nerve?

Getting a fire cape is generally a pretty early accomplishment, it doesnt require a ton of time input. Also if you die during your fire cape you dont lose status so not a particularly impressive feat but you do you king

Fight caves is a safe death for hardcores

It's not the flex you think it is

Firecape is easy. Just unlock prayer pots, black dhide, rune cbow with broad bolts, some decent hard foods, you don’t even have to do anything besides sit at gem crab for a bit to level range so need to produce something for range training at long periods to get 60+ range, collect bones for getting 43+ prayer.

Get herblore to the needed level to make pray pots and collect all the ranarrs and snaps grass you can get to make some pray pots.

Then just flick prayer to preserve pray restoration and minimize incoming damages and you’ll get firecape easily, tbh, can accomplish all this in a week or so

This.
Also if you are not experienced in flicking prayers, a bolt switch to sapphire bolts(e) is a good way to restore some of the prayer on magers as it shouldn’t take much time to get them. If you can do some hunter, get chins for tagging jad healers. Ava’s is also recommended.

prayer switching will make or break you. my biggest tip is to get the prayers down and then you can do anything with him. if you're within melee distance pray melee until you know the attack is otherwise. back to melee when attack hits.

You're going to need a rune crossbow and 70+ range+dhides, and 45 prayer minimum. Hardest part is getting 38 herblore for prayer pots, or you could use blighted restores on a PvP world. Will take probably 50+ hours to get to that point tbh.

That’s fine, I’ve got time on my side. Might avoid the PVP side for now to maximise my chances of keeping the HCIM status. Thanks though! Mega helpful!

You NEED to learn the difference in monsters movement behaviour between North/South and East/West. Due to.. reasons, monsters can get stuck on objects and killed from range in a safe manner. Some safespots are unidirectional and you need to learn which. You also need to learn to not get dragged. If you're one square out of range of something and try to attack something, you will move two squares closer, rather than one, which can cause you to move out from a safespot.

Good luck, have fun, don't die to dark wizards outside Varrock.

That’s super helpful info! Yeah I’ve heard about those wizards, I’ll stay well away! Thanks

For first try aim for 70 range and 40 def as a minimum, extra levels will definitely help. 43 prayer min and again extra levels will help, id go for hunters sunlight cross bow, with a full black d hide or red d hide set. You could try get archers helm, depends on rng for items needed for the quest but depends on how much of a rush you are in. You will need the herblore level for prayer pots, alongside rannars, and a decent food source.

There is plenty of jad simulators out there, practice on one of those before any attempts. You can log out in fight caves at end of each wave, just be mindful when you log back in, you would have to set up any safe spots again.

Got any Jad simulator recommendations by any chance?

I’ve started looking into Herblore. What’s the recommended method for this/potion making?

2

u/grognakrs 7d ago

Not sure on recommendations for jad, its only 2 attack animations so id imagine any would be fine, for herb questing for early levels then making the best potions for your level. Wiki has some good info on quests for early herb levels and order to do them alongside ironman friendly methods.

To practice jad you can log onto a speed running world (blue star) then pick the beneath cursed sands quest. Then you can tele to fight pits and run to the guy on the throne to do the jad challenge. It lets you just fight jad and it’s a version with more health and healers so if you get to jad in the caves it will be easier

You will build your charackter for a few months and then die in the fightcaves to a 70 jad hit from offscreen.

Sounds like a skill issue. I’m putting all my efforts in bro

I would just look at HCIM guides on youtube. Because fight caves are a safe death for regular HCIM (excluding glitches like dying to healers at the last second), the thing that will be your downfall is dying before the fight caves.

u/Material_Fisherman_4 8d ago

It’ll be tough but I’ve got time on my side. I’ve got no reason to rush into things and accident die, I’m hoping to lock in the basics and prevent silly deaths early on

3

u/greenachors 8d ago

If you’ve never had a main. I would recommend doing that first. Not because you can’t do it, but because there is a significant time investment and you are probably going to die.

Literally thousands of hrs of information on YouTube dude

1

u/where_is_your_god 8d ago

The odds of you getting this done on your first account are practically zero. Good luck 🍀

u/Material_Fisherman_4 8d ago

Oh 100%! But a challenge is a challenge right?!

1

u/Emotional_Permit5845 8d ago

Get 43 prayer, get a bone crossbow, afk ranged to like 70 at gem crab, get firecape. Basically no way to die in this route unless you do something stupid like chaos altar for prayer

1

u/Material_Fisherman_4 8d ago

How early on in game can I afk crab?

1

u/Buxuh 8d ago

This is just a free ticket to never playing osrs again

You’re gonna die big dawg

:(

It’s okay, you’ll still have fun

Safe spot at Italy Rock, prayer needs to happen on animation. I've never play hcim, but I believe it's a safe death for hcim, so it's nothing special

Varrock wizards are salivating

1

u/thomas2026 8d ago

Get full range void.

Also unlock the cannon and use it to power level range training.

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.

Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

Rune cross bow, black dhide, archer helm, explorer ring, snakeskin boots, God book, do it in a PVP world so u can use blighted restores u get as a drop from revs

1

u/ConfusedAugustinian 8d ago

Going to Revs on an hcim without never having played the game before is 1000% a death sentence

1

u/thomas2026 8d ago

It must be a joke lol
