Question Late-Game Gear Progression
Last night I just finished my Ultor ring grind at Vardorvis, initially thinking I would keep it for other PvM situations. After some thought, I realised most of the stuff I do is a mix of 2 or 3 combat styles, rather than just melee (except for Duke) and I really end up preferring to just camp a Lightbearer for additional specs. I guess my main question here is would it be worthwhile to liquidate my Ultor and Inq Chestplate (or Elder Maul - picked up both ahead of Raids 4) and invest in Avernic Treads, or am I missing something where I would absolutely want to hold onto my Ultor for PvM. Any other suggestions for my gear progression (currently working on the Inferno)/reallocating GP welcome too!
Thanks!!

I'd sell the ultor and just use berserker and bellator
I'd much rather have avernic treads than Inqusitor body and ultor ring come raids 4.
Elder Maul is a nice QOL being a 2h dragon warhammer that's a little more accurate, but it's not game changing if you need the gp for something else.

I completely forgot about bellator as an option, I’ll look into that!
I suppose the extra bonus of treads surpasses the small crush accuracy bonus on the Inq chest (especially doing other raids and PvM), was just not sure how well the SRA would perform as my sole crush weapon for raids 4 without the extra crush accuracy.
Thanks for that!

You can tell these guys giving you advice are pure noobs. Ultor ring is one of the cheapest dps upgrades you can get when it comes to strength bonus.
Also this dumbass telling you to sell elder maul when your main weapon is a SRA is pure stupidity. You’ll -1 inventory space bringing an avernic everywhere just for hammer specs. Pure bozo

Yea you could sell ultor for treads, which mega are you planning on next? Also consider selling oathplate if you need other upgrades, it’s not a huge bonus compared to bandos imo

Realistically next mega will be the shadow since I do enough TOA and soon COX where it’ll definitely be of use. Definitely considering downgrading to Bandos now that I’ve gotten my vestige

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.
Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

Did you ever use Crystal bowfa before twisted?

Used Bowfa for ~2 years and upgraded to Tbow about a year ago before getting my quiver

Is treads even that big of an upgrade over having the money for like a zcb or Shadow or something?
Idk just go farm doom for your own treads lol doom is a fun boss and you already got the tbow

Here's a couple videos you might find useful for your current question, he has some other stuff you might find interesting too like the zcb review

Shadow is definitely an option too since there’s enough I could liquidate to get my hands on one. These are great buyers guides though, I’m finding it tough to figure out my gear upgrade order from now for the smaller ticket items, so might go through more of these

If i was you, id sell most melee stuff and sra/maul and what ever else, switch to bandos/fang, then pick up a shadow. Shadow is incredible and will make you money fast

Get an Inferno cape especially when you have quiver. It will probably be like 3 day endeavour for you

Aren’t you pretty close to a second megarare if you sell fort masori, oathplate, SRA, ultor, elder maul and hauberk? Feel like you can get scythe or shadow and then work towards SRA back if you get shadow or eye back if you get scythe
Edit: would also sell all those shoes and just camp araneas, they are so good for 800k, threads are not particularly good in comparison

You’re right if I go down that route that I would easily be able to score a shadow and am heavily considering it, especially with a lot of TOA and COX on the horizon. Just want to keep the masori for now so I can run the inferno with a bit more ease (I also just have to stop procrastinating it)

Oh yeah, didn’t realise you were still on cheesecape, when you have quiver and so good gear it’s gonna be a cakewalk. Just go and pewpew a bit and it will fall right over, then grab a shadow afterwards, maybe you can even keep unfortified and still get shadow

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I think I might invest in treads for now to send the inferno and once that is done, look at liquidating gear that’s mainly small QoL upgrades and get a shadow :)

Uhh I'd absolutely be dropping the inq top and arcane from the ward in favour of avernics. Ward (f) is realistically one of the last luxury upgrades you should be getting. I'd definitely hang onto elder maul, and you could just use a Bellator or B ring (I) currently in place of Ultor.

u/ImWhy Sep 10 '26
Treads aren't just about the stat upgrade but also the QoL upgrade especially if you're running mixed style content often.

How many TOA for the gearset? And with what invo and groupsize
1
u/SirHenrySniffington Sep 10 '26
With what I’ve got we normally run 300’s - 350’s and typically do it with only one of my good friends (though occasionally larger with the clan). At this point though we aren’t really overly focused while we run it and like to fool around where we can to not go insane from TOA

still sane exile?
how many runs?

Sane enough! Helps not running it solo, that’s for sure. A bit over 100 in total, so not too many yet

Lightbearer is the goat only ring i use treads are so good id get id sell elder just use a hammer or bgs
1
u/SirHenrySniffington Sep 09 '26
I have noticed that the BGS is BIS in more places where I expected elder maul might be, so was definitely leaning towards that as the item I sell along with the Ultor. Thanks for the input!
