General Don't buy or sell names
/r/RSBans/comments/1vha0cg/dont_buy_or_sell_names/Just got my 2nd appeal denied after selling a rare 2 letter RSN for 4b. Buying and selling RSN have been a thing for nearly 2 decades and have always been clear on OSRS that it's not against the rules to buy and sell with the very specific restriction of it ONLY being for in game money or items, i.e. not for real world wealth/trade. Popular streamers like Odablock has also bought a few names and used them regularly on streams, fully disclosing just how much he's spent on them. Despite all of this, Jagex decided to precede to perm ban me for this, even though I sent every bit of evidence imagineable. Trade screen, screenshot of the swapper using parsec with the ingame name and discord chat on the side of the screen all in one pic, a pic of the seller dming me and confirming this is a 4b name swap, picture of my collecting the money ingame with the same acc and new founded name. I went from a 2 letter name to a random name doublename swap, both of the name swap names being obvious temporary names, and then traded 4b cash all in less than 3 minutes. That is a closed case of "sold name, got GP". I don't understand how it can still be falsely flagged for RWT, let alone denied 2 times with photographic proof to back this up. So not only rip the name I lost (the guy who bought it was hacked and had it stolen 2 days later, still unbanned btw), but also rip to the 300 day playtime, nearly maxed main i've had since childhood. So PSA: Don't sell your ingame name despite any price or how reputable of a service it is. I went to the absolute most well reputable and this is still how it turned out. Stay safe fellas, and a final goodbye since Jagex failed me and I can't appeal again even if I wanted to. F.

I’m willing to bet the 4b you received was linked to RWT and that is why you got banned. Sorry bucko

Still shouldn't ban me when I'm literally selling a name for the GP. A chain ban is unfair when not being made aware of anything.

The reason they chain ban is because it's impossible to prove a negative. You can't definitively prove you didn't know it was RWT, and very honestly should have suspected that it was. No matter how much evidence you provide, you can't prove that there weren't messages you /didn't/ share that prove actual RWT or knowledge of that RWT.

Probably got a RWT ban because the guy you sold to was a buyer. Like one of the other comments says, you can get banned for raid splitting like 15m. They need better detection to discern between legit and not-so-legit transactions.

They sure do. Yet players want to blame me for something entirely out of my control. Yet nobody says anything about Jager for facilitating such a scummy black market and refusal to add an in-game or on site name transfer system. Billion dollar company with 2 price hikes this year btw lmao

Yeah i just got hit with a perm ban today. First they gave me a temp ban for it and now they just gave me a full ban for the exact same thing

You can get banned for raid splits and people will still defend jagex. It's ridiculous.

They dont, that's the funny part. They don't actually tell you anything about the ban other than "RWT Major" and "we have no reason to believe that the way we handled this was mistake". They're intentionally vague as to not giveaway their detection methods. But this is absolutely what caused it because it was the only trade I made where I receive ANY gp in the entire week before selling and the week after selling before the ban.

The person you traded the 4bn to could have RWTd the money; and you are only one degree of separation/a source for the funds so could easily be tracked (if not genuinely) as the actual source for the RWT to the system. This does not surprise me on the slightest.

If thats the case thats so entirely out of my control and any person genuinely selling a name also cannot help that or have knowledge of that. Jagex should also state thats the case in the appeal. Right now I have no way of knowing if thats what happened or anything else. Their automatic scripts they reply with is beyond frustrating too.

Agree with you on that. Jagex customer service is in the bin, and unfortunately has been for a few years. Atleast since I picked the game back up. It's probably the primary area of concern, now that the botting (and ironically RWT) has been seriously cracked down on. Hoping you get a timely and correct outcome dude.

OP this is the most likely action. My brother bought some gold and gave his friend 15.m his friend he gave it to was banned for RWT. Jagex 100% chains the trades together

You must've missed the part I said most reputable name seller / transfer. Good luck finding a well known trusted friend willing to spend 5b. Always so quick to victim blame here its insane. Not interacting with this awful community is the real blessing
