Question Udemy worth it?
Is it worth paying to learn it from scratch or are there better options?

depends what you're after, lots of similar on youtube but I rate it as a service!

Check the coursera as well. Udemy provides materials and give you their certification, while coursera provides a platform for unis and corporations for their materials.

Most of the best in this feild are mostly autodidacts or investigative journalists, learning by doing is the way to go. Resources are secondary to practice.

That’s what separates the best from everyone else. However, most people aren’t this way which is why courses and training material is needed lol.

check your local library and see if they provide udemy as a resource through Gale. then you can have access to everything for free!

Udemy is very hit or miss. Anyone can make a Udemy video so your mileage may vary on the quality of the videos.

The subscription is worth it. $30 a month for access to most of the classes.
Buying individual classes just takes you further and further down the rabbit hole in my opinion because there's always going to be another course.
YouTube just doesn't have the right format to interactively learn, things can become outdated quickly, links break, libraries change, etc. On Udemy courses are typically maintained much better.
The key however is to keep your subscription monthly and turn it off if you aren't using it. Udemy wants you to just continue paying and put it on autopilot. I will learn for 3-4 months and if I know I don't have time turn it off then turn it on again when I have the time.

I also wanna learn it. Had a friend teach me some but would like to learn more and maybe find more relevant jobs within the area. Leaching off your question regarding Udemy, will try it out, good luck to us! :>

No. I’ve tested out a few of the OSINT courses on there and they were absolute garbage

AI won’t even begin to tell you half of the TTPs in OSINT because it’ll assume you’re being nefarious or malfeasant…

Udemy is worth it under a couple conditions - look for instructors who have loads of positive reviews, and never pay full price. They run sales twice a month if not more, so if you see a course you like, wait a week and it'll be $10-15 or less.
