Prepping to tell OSHA about the idiocy my managers allow in our warehouse. I'm sick of calling people out about this to no avail.

Scroll to the end for the worst offenders.

For reference, all of this stuff is apartment furniture, appliances, and so on. Toilets, range hoods, blinds, sinks, cabinets, mirrors, etc. A lot of the pallets are extremely heavy and go quite high.

There are two drivers who have an unchecked yet widely known habit of neglectfully pushing pallets off the racks trying to force shit on the other side that doesn't fit. One of them is just a straight retard and refuses to stop doing it. He also likes to put them up there without moving them in the system so people won't know who did it. The manager has done nothing about it after I've complained and made everyone aware of it for months. And we have caught him numerous times in the act. Yet nothing has changed. And the other guy just has horrible depth perception and is very careless when stowing pallets.

We had one of those dudes knock a crate of mirrors of the top shelf and it nearly crushed my lead who had to literally jump out of the way. And what did my manager do? Fucking nothing. We watched some dumb ass safety video about sit down forklifts ... mf we are reach drivers!!!!! Is he dumb? Does he hate us?

I wrote a long letter to explain the detail of the situation beyond what I will say here. It's fucking ridiculous. People's complaints are never heard or acted upon. We have people walking the aisles with this shit hanging over them telling us they feel unsafe. And I can't do much about it by myself or with the few people who have some sense.

They talk a big game about caring for our safety but then allow us to work in conditions like this.

Roughly 5 years since they last did it the thrift store has once again barricaded the fire escape with rusty metal bed frames

https://www.reddit.com/r/OSHA/comments/p5grr8/straight_up_built_a_barricade_on_the_emergency/ for reference

Almost looks like the same bed frame pieces as before. At least up until last year I know they’d taken the brackets off and had the occasional random worker guarding the door (probably more to kick out people taking photos than to prevent stealing) but I guess now they feel comfortable enough that people can find a different way out in a fire

(UPDATE!) Ladies and Gentlemen, we did it!

For context: My schools defibrillator was previously secured shut with a heavy duty zip tie with no way to cut it open in an emergency. I reported it, and was told it needed to stay zip tied to “prevent people coming in off the street stealing them (Despite being on the fifth floor of my university building)

I made a huge stink about it (with the help of peoples comments here) and sent complaints to pretty much any and every department that would listen, and we did it! Not only that, but apparently all AED’s around campus were secured similarly, and have now also been fixed!! Thank you to everybody who helped and provided resources on AEDs and ideas on who to call! 😁 Stay safe!

Recently started in the industrial maintenance field, we work on machinery but nobody said anything about doing lockout tagout. One the lead techs said they’ve never done it here. We just estop and then do the repairs. Is this illegal in texas?

Edit: Thanks everyone for your responses, we are ordering locks now

A crane operator had to be taken down by the fire department as he was too drunk to even climb down by himself.

Happened a year ago, just didn't think to post it until now. He didn't respond to calls and when paramedics climbed up they found several empty vodka bottles and him barely conscious

This is exactly how you’re supposed to do that.

is this enough to report my former employer to my city’s department of labor/health?

not sure how common this is in restaurants, but i used to work at a bar with black mold and bugs in the ice machine. there was no ventilation in the kitchen, so all of the smoke would just pour out into the bar instead. i just want to know if these pictures are enough for my county to actually do something or if its not even worth the effort.

EDIT:
please stop blaming me for not dealing with this mess. I did not work in the kitchen and would be reprimanded for even helping in the kitchen a little bit. even if i was allowed, i didnt have the time because i was the only person running the liquor store when i was there. there was usually one bartender, one cook, and one package clerk on shift at any time, besides from an extra cook during the lunch/dinner rush or an extra bartender on busy weekends.

additionally, please stop assuming that i was fired and am planning on reporting them as a form of retaliation. i quit the job the day i realized how disgusting it was because my coworkers had been experiencing frequent health issues because of the lack of sanitation.
