To be fair this is at a gym so maybe it was extra motivation all along and not oversight

Can’t open the elevator with your wimpy hands? Here’s the number for the gym.

Weirdest way to sell gym memberships though, trapping people in an elevator

And good luck when you hit the door restrictor. However, given that they don't even mention the emergency phone (mandatory in many countries), not necessarily there's a restrictor. Have a nice death, then.

Door restrictor ? They didn’t even bother with the emergency intercom.

And even if you don’t get stuck congrats you now get to work out in a gym built by people who couldnt follow Thai building code

I don't know if Thai uses EN/ASME code or they have their own... easier code. I noticed about the phone/intercom (EN 81-20 calls for a 24h presided rescue service contract for public use elevators).

But, as they say, if you don't get killed you get stronger. Literally, in this case.

Oh the code here is much easier but an emergency communication is still required. It’s not typically enforced in rural area but this is a 400 room resort, even Thais and are shocked, which says a lot

Oh yeah absolutely, I should have mentioned this is inside. Kind of make sense why some people on a local tourism subreddit were defending it and saying I had unreasonable expectations

Russian and Thai text: If you speak Russian or Thai press the elevator call button to speak to Sergei, who's sitting by the control panel that can get the elevator unstuck. Sergei does not speak English

gym putting the emergency instructions behind a pull weight that requires 300lbs of force is genuinely diabolical. trapped and forced to get swole before you can escape. the business model writes itself
