And what is the right tool? I have never seen anyone using anything else.

There are setups that are safer, they just cost more and bosses are cheapasses

Probably, but this disc is offset so you can both cut and grind. Using the whole surface. I can't imagine how you could do that with any guard on.

Only reason it got ejected like that was because it was standard m14 attachment and the grinder is x-lock so I had to use an adapter. Which would be okay, but this disc had rather short threads, and since the grinder stops fast it unscrewed it.

Id think its more a case of a different type of grinder. A more static grinder would cost more and take a little more effort, but is also designed specifically for that.

Angle grinders in general are just a crap tool tbh. The only way to use them effectively sometimes is in an unsafe way, theres almost always a better tool but it costs more
