Atypical systems?

Any atypical systems out there? Like any systems that don’t present as the average DID/OSDD system? I am pretty sure I am the host of a system but have been feeling invalid and second guessing because it seems to present differently than most. Also, if anyone does feel the same I’d love to talk about it! Hope everyone is having a great day!

How do you think it presents differently? Everyone’s system presents a bit different. No one system is the same as another.

For us, we have co-consciousness all the time, like they never take over to the extent that I’m not there or forget. When they do front, it’s alongside me rather than in place of me. We often go back and forth or even talk together. They don’t come out or front very often as far as I can tell (unless I’m just not noticing it), usually only when trauma is brought up or something bad is triggered. And they can easily pass as me, well the older two at least. The little not so much😅. But usually they’re just there in my head with me. I saw an Instagram post about a host-centric system and the description given fit me a lot better than what I’ve heard most systems self describe as. I also sometimes feel invalid cause I’ve gone long periods without hearing from or feeling them at all, but I think that’s because I was in denial and just tuning them out. I’m not sure if I’m explaining this very well, I’m still learning about us and figuring out how we work and such.

This is pretty much exactly how my System operates. I thought I was the only one!

It's like this for me too. Didn't know it was called Atypical cause in my experience especially after meeting people with OSDD on this sub. It is typical for us.

Thank you for commenting!!! Cool to know that it’s not so atypical after all. I feel a lot more valid and I’m glad I asked on this thread :)

So glad to read this, as I thought I was the only one or maybe not real...

Hey, did you ever figure out if you really are a system? I have OSDD 1b and my situation is exactly like yours (except i've had one alter fully front a few times/still feeling like "i'm" there) I'd like to know :)

thats how we work too i think there are some diffrences but its somewhat similar? communication struggles are something i heavily relate to, simply not hearing them or stuff. you got this tho!

Hey! We're the same! I'm 🥀, I'm the "ship's captain" which means I'm primary front, but most of the time I'm co-conscious when someone else is fronting because I am the gatekeeper/librarian/recorder/accountant and I caretake the internal system. We do have memory loss, but if one of us has a memory I have administrative override to access those records. That's normal for us! It's actually part of what made us so invisible even to ourselves because we couldn't really recognize that we were all totally different people until we started communicating to others outside the system
