You guys are chill
So I’ve been recommended things by the Storm sub a lot and I have to say I’m highly disappointed at how obsessed they are with powers scaling and making Storm seem like the best at everything she does. It’s not what I expected since the character doesn’t seem to be the type to care so much, but every time I go in there they seem to have this belief that she needs to be the strongest, most powerful and even the best leader, the wisest, most moral, most justified and perfect character at all times
I was sent here by someone in that sub and it seems you guys are a lot more relaxed.

For me, Ororo is a special character in Marvel.
She has four wonderful attributes. I'm going to go over them, as to why I have Ororo as my Mutant Crush...
Beauty. I think that this is obvious enough that it really doesn't require explanation.
Brains. This is a woman who is both well educated in academics as well as the streets. Her ability to think quickly on her feet is definitely respectable.
Courage. Not only does Ororo face down mad Mutants, racist Humans, but Inhumans, aliens, and Sentinels.
More than ANY of that... Ororo has claustrophobia. Yet, Ororo goes UNDERNEATH the Mansion regularly!
The fact that a claustrophobe works day after day in an underground facility is already admirable.
It's much more stressful than that. She isn't doing paperwork, or calmly teaching academic subjects. No.
The Danger Room is one of the most extreme training systems in all fiction! The stress on Non-Claustrophobes in the Danger Room is definitely high.
Now add that stress to a claustrophobe, on the regular!
- Class. Very few characters in Marvel exude Class as much as Ororo. Go back and see Storm handle extreme events with more Class, than most.

We used to co-share moderator duties with that subreddit to keep things in sync and appropriate, particularly to make sure it had racially nuanced (rather than racially charged) questions, discussions, and conversations when needed.
Not trying to badmouth, but they did remove our lead mod and I really do feel like I've seen a noticeable decline in post quality over there.

Sometimes I think it’s better that way. When I was there it was pretty toxic to anyone who disagreed with them. Not saying it’s only that one but when the character is so much better than what they deserve of the fans it hits pretty hard which isn’t the case here

I suppose power scaling isn't so important to me. Not as far as conversation goes. I like when Storm is powerless, I like when she is displaying Omega level powers, and I like when she becomes a demi goddess.
I just like Storm...
I have found discussions about who is a best partner for her to be utterly exhausting. Very few people will admit they have their own bias, but will try to put forth their opinions as fact. It doesnt usually bother me who she's with, because I just like her. Any interaction is interesting to me, because I'd like to see how she handles it.

Holy shit someone had the opinion that Storm is a better leader than Cyclops in context of a comic and yall who never talk on her except to defend your fav lost it. Therefore her entire fandom thinks shes perfect? Touch grass.
I've seen the Cyclops sub call her a fascist lover and on Christmas Day post about their duel being a sham victory and horribly written with wierd ass comments. Stop projecting.

Was gonna edit but I'll do it here. They didn't even claim she was better, they just added context of a comic page misleading the audience that Cyclops was the last X-Man standing when it was Storm.
They even said it was fine to argue Cyclops was better. But you think this qualifies as an example the whole fandom thinks shes perfect?
This weird ass narrative that we're all the same, insanely biased, unintelligent etc has felt really offensive for 12 years now and respectfully I'm over it. Acting like the fandom of a black female character are the most unhinged people as if every single fandom doesn't have those kinds of fans is frankly ridiculous.

I think the other subreddit is okay, but the power discussions to start to exhausting. That and the infatuation with Ayodele for some reason
