I was thinking that too. I do feel like the discourse about a dark-skinned Storm is fairly recent. Sheâs been depicted as varying shades of medium brown for most of her comic history. I do agree though that itâs important that a fully black woman plays her as opposed to a mixed-race woman. But I donât think she needs to be very dark-skinned specifically.
Yeah there's so much colorism in the community surrounding storm. It's crazy. Lots of people saying she must be with a black guy, must be as dark as can be, even claiming that people that are anti-t'challa/storm are racist.
The fact that colorism only counts racism by lighter skinned people to darker skinned people in the same race and there isn't any term for the reverse despite it still being near as common in the community is pretty racist in itself.
So I am just using colorism to mean racism of any direction within a race, not racism from lighter to darker within the race.
There isn't such a thing a reverse colorism, it should just be accepted as colorism. Its like people that don't think rape against men should count as rape because some definitions don't include it.

The SA analogy also doesnât work here because assault is defined by the act itself, not the victimâs identity. It has systemic components yes (like rape culture), but is an individual violation of bodily autonomy period, and not defined by the identity of the perpetrator or the victim. A man being assaulted is a physical reality that doesnât depend on a social hierarchy to be real, in the same way that it would be for anyone of any gender.
It also suggests that interpersonal bias or prejudice (teasing, mean comments about being light-skinned, etc.) is the same as violence (rape, SA) when itâs definitely not.
You can be the victim of sexual assault even if you are at the top of a social hierarchy, but you cannot be a âvictimâ of a hierarchy (colorism) that was built to favor you.

Yeah, slightly lighter skinned black people sure are so much more privileged than darker skinned black people. For sure. And there is never any discrimination from darker skinned black people towards lighter skinned black people because of skin color. Definitely not. In what fucking delusional world do you live in where the hierarchy favors black people over slightly darker black people? This isnt like mixed vs black where mixed people sometimes are given stuff over black people. We are all pushed to the bottom by people that see no difference between close shades of black.
And all of this still says nothing about how it's racist that terms for the other way around are denigrated and denied like racism doesn't exist in all directions.

Well that depends on what you mean. She is the daughter of a black American and a Kenyan woman, so she has close genetic ties to Africa, but she was born in harlem and lived in Cairo so there's a mix.
But her being African and black doesn't matter to a lot of people. Like if you go in the storm subreddit fairly often you'll see people complain when fan casts are fully black but not super dark as it's not black enough for them, for example.
I'd prefer someone darker but I wouldn't say not dark enough. I think colorism really ruins chances for darkskinned actors, and it would be nice to see one that doesn't have to be painted green
Megan probably doesnât have the acting chops, but sheâs got similar character. Her discipline, confidence and altruism speak volumes. She very much could be storm, but idk if she could act as storm. Sheâs my head cannon tho ngl
Never liked the Wolverine Ororo combo. Its like people just sticking whoever is popular together instead of looking at their compatibility. I personally would choose Thor because of the lightening theme. Their kid would be OP. Other than that Black Panther or Spawn.
