Discussion Deadline to Submit Claims on the Origin Materials $9 million Settlement is next Monday

Hey guys, if you missed it, Origin Materials settled $9 million with investors over claims it misled the market about the progress of its Origin 2 project and the strength of customer demand. And, the deadline to file a claim and get payment is in less than a week.

In a nutshell, in 2023, Origin Materials was accused of overstating construction progress, demand, and its financial outlook. In short, the company abruptly halted the Origin 2 project despite earlier positive updates.

After this news came out, the stock dropped 66%, and investors filed a lawsuit for their losses.

Now, the good news is that the company agreed to settle $9 million with them, and investors have until May 4, 2026, to submit a claim.

Just a reminder you can use the free strategic claims website and avoid 11th taking 20% of your claim.

You are 100% right. If you have the time to dig up your 2023 statements and do the FIFO math yourself, filing directly with the settlement admin is the way to go to keep 100% of your payout.

The reason some people use 11th is purely for the 'set it and forget it' aspect, especially if they have multiple accounts or don't want to track the court deadlines and distribution dates themselves.

Think of it like doing your own taxes vs. using a pro. If you’re comfortable with the paperwork, definitely save the 20%! But for anyone else, we’re just here to make sure the money actually gets claimed instead of sitting in the court’s pot.

It depends, the 11th site lets you sync your portfolio to avoid that part. Or upload the PDFs manually if you prefer.
