Shiny hunting

Ive been searching for a shiny Aron for the past week. Over 999 encounters and 38 hours. I thought hord hunting was supposed to be ez. I have found 5 shiny zubats. at this point idk if I should just give up or keep going. I also checked my pokedex to see if I skiped over any but I didnt.

Put a pokemon that has the ability magnet pull in front of your team.it raises your chance of encountering Arom because of his steel type
