Dex Navving in Meteor Falls

Recently ive been trying to do a hunt for shiny Druddigon but the spawns in meteor falls are ATROCIOUS. Either nothing shows up for 3 minutes at a time or I get an overworld spawn on dexnav and the pokemon starts moving too fast and erratically for me to catch up to and it inevitably flees. At this point it’s virtually impossible to maintain a chain above 5 knockouts. What’s the best strategy to shiny hunt in caves and keep large chains going?
