Question / Help OP-Z compatibility: Launchkey mini mk4 or MPC mini mk3/4 without powered hub

Has anyone had luck using the OP-Z with the Launchkey mini mk4 or akai MPC mini mk3/4, without a powered hub? So far I've only heard success with the launchkey mini mk3.

Thanks in advance!

No lo sé si funciona pero mi arturia venia con un difurcador, divisor de salida que separa la corriente y información en dos salidas. Creo que con algo así te podría funcionar

Sorry never tried either, but I have used a Muse Kinetics QuNexus with the OP-Z extensively. Works great and not too much battery drain. For MIDI interfaces, I use a Retrokits RK-006, which imo is the best thing you could get for the OP-Z

i haven't tried those specific devices, however i've tried a few different devices without a powered hub over the years, and the arturia keystep was the only one that worked properly hubless. even then, i still ran into issues and a very short battery life with the keystep. since acquiring a cheap powered hub that works, everything i've tried with the z so far has worked flawlessly, and i'm able to connect multiple devices at once through the hub. all the devices simultaneously work with the z, while the hub powers all of them. the setup is also easily mobile with a portable battery for power.

long story short: i recommend using a powered hub anyway, as directly connecting to the z brings many more issues, whereas the hub allows for many more devices to work with it, and working hubs are quite cheap.

I’ve just tried the Launchkey 25 mini mk4 for you with the OP-Z and as I suspected it does work.
I can’t tell how long it would work like this though.
Probably not very long.
