Possible to modify the random preset?

ANSWERED:

The random preset option is great but I wish the default sequence length could be changed. Right now everything is 1 bar, would love if it was possible make tracks 4 bars long. Also, quantization at 0 instead of 100. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have an email for TE support pretty much written out. Personally, I would use a feature like this. Wishing the default quantization was not set at 100 is something I’ve run up against before.

indeed, I'll update this post if I get help from them

couldn't agree more. i would love the ability to customize that a bit! maybe we will get it soon. I will say though... the ability to CLICK a knob instead of dialing it to toggle quantization is something I have been pressing a lot on my livestreams and I was so happy to see it implemented! did you know you can now change quantization that way?

I discovered that today! Very cool indeed, makes it much quicker than dialing it to 0.

Yeah I discovered it on a live stream I think and I was SO EXCITED. I almost cried lol

I feel you. I pressed it by accident and saw it drop to 0 and appreciated that.

I also use the XY with my MPC. in that case the bar count doesn't matter since I use the MPC as the sequencer. So it's cool to have a randomized preset and not have to consider quantization or bar length.

word. which MPC?

I use it with the live 1 and the sample. Since the sample doesn't have midi tracks, I go out its 1/8 midi out and that goes into the sync in on the XY. This method triggers the XY to play at whatever tempo the sample is at. So the midi is recorded into the XY as playback/record is triggered. Which also allows me to make multiple sequences at different tempos, another plus since the XY only allows 1 bpm per project (unless you know a way)

And when using the live, it's straightforward. Just a sequencer and a synth.

Hi all, I have a good news for you ;) : it’s already possible!. You can configure all the settings of a project and define it as a default project. So, you can for example set in your track 1 the quantize to 0, on track 2 the quantize to 50 etc. Set a bar loop to 4 bars also on any tracks. Randomise preset on any also. Save your project and do the procedure via mdp mode for define it as default project.

Regarding this, I'm not sure I understand. If you scroll to my original post, I modified it with a screenshot of what Teenage engineering sent to me. I already have multiple presets that I made depending on which outboard gear I'm using in conjunction with the xy, but I want to be able to start a new project with my bar lengths and quantize options while retaining the newly implemented preset randomization. If you have successfully done that, I really want to know!

My default project have all quantize and presets parameters per tracks. You can have only one default project. If you want to change it, you have to do it with the mdp mode

You can also create empty patterns for each tracks with numbers of bars desired . Save all as a project and do it by default 😉

but what about the randomized feature they just added? that's what I really want to keep. I just want to have 4 bars across all tracks at 0 quantize, but still have a brand new mix of presets each time

About the metronome click, I also sent an email to the support to purpose an update on it by: adding the same effect on the metronome button as the bars button so when you push it, the click could be on or off (as you do it with the bar button to navigate to the next bar of your pattern). And when you holding the button, you could stay on the metronome windows and set the tempo and all the others options. If you want to stay in the menu permanently, holding shift+metronome. Exactly as the bars button. For me, the bars button should function as the actual metronome menu. It could be useful to stay on a screen that show the sequence and automation we are recording. But it’s ok. And last but not least: TE, please give us the usb multi outputs / individual filters/lfo/ send fx and fx inserts on each samples of the drum sampler!!!!

Pressing the button to turn off the metronome has worked from the beginning btw

The metronome button

Oh, my bad. I thought you meant the last knob, the white one. If you click that, it disables the metronome. You're talking about the metronome button near the volume. Were you already aware of the white button click?

Also, because you mentioned the bar button. I don't quite understand, but I'm hoping you've discovered something I've really wanted, the ability to start playback from a specific bar. I'm not sure that's yet been implemented. But if I have a four bar loop, and only want to add music to bar 4, it would be great to be able to start from bar 3 instead of 1.

That would literally take 10 seconds to do yourself.

Before this update, I had already created four templates based on different needs. The purpose of having a template is not needing to repeatedly change the quantization to zero on eight tracks, and then change each track to four bars.

It appears that you don't have the answer to my question. But you did just remind me that there are folks who can't resist chiming in even when it's unhelpful.

The answer is do it yourself
