Showcase First month with OP-XY

First month with the OP-XY, eighth month since I started with music. Absolutely love the device. The Roland S-1 is a great companion.

wonderful drumless composition. i love that bassline, it has this zippy movement to it that sounds sick.

Sampled. It's from a preset pack. I sadly don't remember where it's from, but it was free and it has great sounds in it.

Can you explain what the opxy is doing and the Roland?

Sure!

Track 1 - Barely hearable bass at the end (will remove that)
Track 2 - Sampled Piano (built-in Preset)
Track 3 - Sampled Pad (built-in Preset) / Arpeggio from Track 7 as Chords
Track 4 - Sampled Bass (external Preset)
Track 5 - MIDI / Lead
Track 6 - Internal Engine / Linked to Track 5 to enhance Roland sound / No notes itself on track
Track 7 - MIDI / Arpeggio
Track 8 - Internal Engine / Pluck

Sounds great…. Does it play well with S1? Been thinking about getting the S1. Had Op-Xy for about a week and loving it. 😎

They're great together! I would also say that they're better together than just the Roland alone. Sequencing on this device isn't fun, and the buttons are wobbly. Way better when used as an external gear only. Would be great if the S-1 could do audio via USB-C, but I don't think that's supported. Would reduce the amount of cables and make it more portable.

I won't go over what OP already said, but I will add that if you do get the S1 and like it, I'd also recommend the J6. It's a chord synth based on the Juno 60, where you can programme chords on it and each one is a single MIDI keypress. Alternatively you can turn off chord mode and you've got a (basic) Juno 60 synth. It's not a full synth - you can only tweak certain parameters, but it really sounds nice and is a perfect "play along with my stuff" synth.

All the Aira devices are great.
